Cool demo. Have you ever played with the Take 5? It’s very similar except for the filter and a few other things. One thing you might not have been aware of is LFO 2 defaults to reset on each note on an init patch, which is why you didn’t hear the full effect of it in your arp patch. You can change that in the program menu. Another trick: when using envelope 1 as “Aux” there’s a dedicated mod slot for it in slot 19 and the Amount knob on the envelope sets the depth of that mod slot so you can change it on the fly from the panel. LFO1 and LFO2 have dedicated slots too that their amount knobs control (and you can get directly to those slots with the Dest buttons).

I haven't had a chance to play the Take 5 for more than a few minutes. Thanks for these tips they're awesome. Whilst I felt good about making music with the synth, there was and is still loads of little things to learn about it. Thanks again for taking the time to leave some great tips and tricks.

Thank you for this, Craig. Even though I don’t make the kind of dance track that you presented TEO-5 in the context of, it was so great hearing it in that context. At the end of May 2024 when I’m commenting, I can safely say that I would seriously consider getting this synthesizer if I hadn’t already ordered myself a Hydrasynth Explorer and was not prioritizing a new computer as my next major purchase. It definitely has several features that I could go for, one of which is that it might be a companion to my first generation Oberheim, a Matrix 1000. Another is that all for the analog polyphonic synthesizers I have owned it over the last 20 years and counting (one of which I no longer have) have been DCO models. It would make a sweet change getting one with VCOs and the same front panel layout as the different monophonic ones I’ve owned.

Thank you. The Hydrasynth is a great instrument and I think you will have loads of fun with it. The TEO-5 will be around for many years. If you do end up wanting to purchase it there should be more content around so you can make an informed decision.

Hi, At 09:40 can you please explain what Noise modulation on the Cutoff filter exactly does. I understand this when using an LFO. So, is it correct when I say that the position of Cutoff filter is ‘randomized’ because the level of noise is ‘random’?

That sequence was awesome but it could have been more effective imo if built it up more slowly starting with a a quarter note hi hat and only one kick on the one of each measure than an eighth note hi hat with a kick added on one and three of every measure then keep adding minor variations until finally a full track kicks in.

I work for The Focusrite Group and Oberheim is one of the companies. Thats why I didn't do a review because it would be really biased for me to say how good the synth is when I work for the company.

u didnt go unison on arp cause this synthesizer has only 5 voices and u used to much release. I say it again only 5 voices

Seemingly you had the Teo audio only on local speakers and picked the sound up through your microphone. That, unfortunately, yields a very poor quality result. i'm still waiting for any demo with proper audio. My interest in this instrument is currently based on specs alone, and i would sell my Matrix 6 to get one of these. i do understand the Oberheim and DSI companies are delighted about this instrument, but until now they (superbooth and this video) fail to bring some enthusiasm to me too.

The audio was captured through a recorder not through a microphone. I recorded this video in my lounge room if it was via a microphone there would be a load of reverb on the sound.
