A quick look at making stippling tools and a scruffy borderless stipple on an ar15 type grip for my pest control air rifle

Wow! I fully expected you to bring out the mallet and start hammering away. Surprised to see it does fine under its own weight. Noticed you only did the palm side, which makes sense. No need applying to the side that won’t get gripped. I was wincing and expected a large fireball when the lighter wouldn’t work💥😆. Great video👍🏼

Hi Ron, yeah it's surprising eh. The stainless bar is quite weighty but that's the key to it really. I will make another with a row of pins for edging.but being soldered in,you can replace them easily or pattern them in the handle. It's even better with a few broad pins and some fine ones in the same handle

I don't have access to a lathe (my industrial arts classes were way way waaaay back in middle school). Wondering if a small diameter steel pipe filled with stacked washers or lead shot would substitute for the stainless milled rod. Either soldering in or using epoxy to hold the pins in place.

Hi Mike, yes I'm sure you could cobble something together along those lines. The heavier you can make the handle section the better is what ive found. I've got a range of tools now with different diameters of nails and different quantities in each. The more nails ,the finer and shallower the stipple. The less nails the deeper it will stipple. Its good fun experimenting and really cuts down the time of the final job 😉

Hello, your grip is my favorite type. What size is it, please? I'd like to make my own thank you❤

This one was made as a medium, based on the sizing of European target rifles.which would be more like a large in ar based grips😉

@@tillysgunstocks Yes, I was hoping you could give me the ratio of length to width, so I could try it myself and 3d print it. Thank you very much

Oh my god ,talk about simple engineering, you have just cabbaged my head, why and how did I not think of that.drop kicked the dremmel in the bin. Wow just so much easier.

It's cool eh,and it oils up nicer too than a dremel job. Without borders it's probably half hour to do a grip.😉
