As someone with no idea what HLVRAI is, here is my summary, Detective likes his superhero partner, who for some reason eats blue balls like Pac-Man. Mini Einstein tries to give him relationship advice throughout their journey to save the world, only for superhero to turn evil and become a door. Then he’s un-evil-fied and they smooch because Einstein’s love advice finally worked. EDIT: I just finished watching through all of HLVRAI, you know what? Pretty damn close; this animatic hits different.

I'm currently watching the series and I'm slowly getting the references. So for anyone who's not familiar, here is what I know so far: - 0:39 Can't blame Gordon on this one, Benrey looks super cute in an eldritch kind of way with those shaded eyes and sharp grin. - 0:41 The blue balls coming out of Benrey (the guard) mouth is him singing. His singing calms npcs. - 0:54 The first time Gordon and Benrey meet, Benrey is already impeding Gordon from going to work by asking for his passport. Benrey insists on following Gordon because the guard might beat him up for not having one. It was agitation at first encounter for Gordon. - 0:55 one of the first times we hear Benrey laugh whenGordon commented that Benrey waits for no one after the guard jumped off the elevator. - 0:57 Gordon is losing his patience at the absurdity of the situation and Benrey sang his "calm the npc" song to him. - 1:00 Benrey is asking Gordon if he killed the corpse that they found in the room. Gordon burst out laughing in the middle of his denial because when he admitted that he killed some people in the elevator, Benrey just said "nice". - 1:01 Gordon showed Benrey a picture of his son from his locker and Benrey said his son looks like shit. - 1:03 There are times that they would stop in a room and rest. Like in the command room for launching rockets. I haven't seen the above happen yet. But I think it's a reference to Benrey frequently asking for Gordon's passport throughout the streams even when everything had gone to the dogs. - 1:22 Happened in the beginning of the game where they found surviving scientists in the comfort room and someone hiding in the stalls blew them up. - 1:23 A running gag of Dr. Coomer insisting the alien thingies are ropes to swing over pits and getting strangled/kidnapped in the process. - 1:23:5 They were resting in a room and a pigeon appeared out of nowhere. The npcs are mostly leaving it alone until Benrey killed it at random. - 1:24 Gordon is telling Tommy "The man just died... and now there's toilets." Benrey died holding up the door and ends up getting crushed. Toilets appeared along with his dead body. - 1:25 After Benrey died, a skeleton kept popping out of nowhere that the other npcs insist that they cannot see. The skeleton is also insisting on Gordon's passport and has the ability to sing balls. - When the other acting npcs die, they always respawn around Gordon. There are times that Benrey isn't with them. He either wanders off or he doesn't re-spawn near Gordon. In 1:28 he'd be gone for a long time and Gordon and the others would end up meeting him ahead of their destination. 1:27 maybe suggesting that Benrey had been following them in secret all along. - 1:29 The crew are interrogating a soldier named Forzen and Tommy is breaking at Forzen's deal of getting his Beyblade in a second location. Much to Gordon's exasperation. - 1:30 Gordon is getting suspicious of Benrey as they found him outside with the other soldiers who wasn't keeping him captive. - 1:30 They rode so fast in the tram that they're riding on, that they went off the rails and ran over a couple of soldiers. - 1:31 Benrey has a habit of sitting on random places. In the hologram of the world, he said he was editing the wiki article of All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 that Gordon died in that movie. - 1:32 Since this animatic is half wish fulfillment, what this scene didn't show was that Benrey and Bubby conspired to lure Gordon to go into a room alone where he was captured by soldiers. - 1:34 Hence why Gordon woke up with only one hand. - 1:38 The science team got separated and Tommy was the first one that Gordon found. - 1:42 Scariest shit I've ever seen. - 1:47 Bubby was tricked by the soldiers and returned to his tube. - 2:10 Bubby is carrying a rocket launcher because they had to fight some helicopters at one point. - 2:13 The team saw Benrey with another guard. The player was so pissed at Benrey for betraying him that he let the others shoot the guards dead because he couldn't tell them apart. - 2:14 In the same second encounter, everyone showed their passports. I think it's to prove to Gordon that Benrey is serious about Gordon's lack of passport. - 2:17 Gordon's first encounter with G-man who can stop time to talk to him secretly. - 2:18 This scene is actually a wish fulfillment. In the actual game, Gordon is pissed at Benrey because Benrey is making fun of him for being clumsy enough to lose his hand. In the background the others are trying to jump into a drop in order to climb a tower where Gordon and Benrey were in. - 2:20 The actual that happened was that Gordon was confronting Benrey while the others drank the Powerade water and Benrey made a small smooch sound, surprising Gordon to say "Did you just try kiss me?" - 2:23 Meeting Darnold who gave him a potion. The result is a minigun prosthetic. - 2:23 They also found a Cadillac and went on a joyride. - 2:24 Just Dr. Coomer telling Gordon that he'd catch him with his big strong arms. - 2:26 Because Gordon is standing on top of some computer, Benrey said the computer is taking HD photos of Gordon's feet. - 2:29 Gordon has a wtf face because Tommy's dog, Sunkist is an actual jpeg. - 2:30 Gman is trying to be all mysterious and unsettling with his time-stopping talk with Gordon but Benrey is unaffected and keeps on asking Gman for a free month in ps+ The rest you'll have to watch for yourselves now. This comment is long enough and I've had hyperfixated on this long enough. This is the animatic that made me go down the rabbit hole of hlvrai and frenrey.

Continuing this so u don't have to (I haven't watched it for a while tho so I don't remember everything) - 2:18 In the cliff scene, Benrey has been telling Gordon to jump in the river very far below, Gordon knows it's ridiculous and tells Benrey to do it first, Dr Coomer shames him for saying that because jumping would result in certain death and only an idiot would, and Bubby jumps. - 2:31 Gordon actually jumps in the yellow light in that room - 2:33 When Gordon wakes up after jumping in the electricity/light/whatever that was, the world is very weird, with the ground flying in different islands all over. Benrey is now a giant (he's kinda friendly tho). The others run away (Benrey tells Gordon he knows where he is because he scanned his feet) - 2:42 They're in a room with barells coming through. At this point Gordon is inches away from a break-down and the others are not helping. Dr Coomer advises Gordon to use his "Mini-Map", but Gordon doesn't have such a thing :( (that's sad). - 2:43 They're in a weird room with a glowing door. Dr Coomer admits that he's scared, Tommy is too, and Bubby states that he is "stronger than anything here". - 2:45 I might be wrong, but I think this is the scene in which Gordon sees Benrey again after they had started fighting him and he went back in time to destroy the passports (cuz that's what makes Benrey powerful) (btw since he came back in time he's in Black Mesa again, which is why the walls and everything are normal). Benrey is still a giant and only his head fits in the corridor. Gordon acts very friendly at first because he's scared of getting killed, then he runs past him to the locker room to find his passport. Benrey stays next to the door because he allegedly doesn't like this room. - 2:46 Ngl fam I don't remember any of this. Could be when Gordon has a little speech before going to the final battle in which he praises and thanks Tommy for being way more mature than he seems and for basically saving his life, and kinda forgives Bubby for betraying him. Idk tho, could be something else I don't remember. - 2:54 The final battle against Giant Benrey! - 2:57 Using Gordon's last "PlayCoins" (a running joke throughout the series about some pay-to-win money that allows Dr Coomer to do anything really), Dr Coomer activates the SuperPlayerTM feature which basically turns him into a super human. - 2:58 Gordon keeps shooting Benrey - 2:58 Benrey is defeated. There is however no eye-contact between him and Gordon as he disappears and everything turns to white. But Gordon doesn't look away so make anything u want out of this. - 3:08 Right after they defeated Benrey, G-Man contacts Gordon again, gives him back his hand, and pretty much says that all of this was to get his son Tommy to his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. They have a heated debate over the question of whether Chuck E Cheese is or isn't a restaurant. - 3:09 Tommy's B-Day party at Chuck E Cheese - 3:11 Could be a refference at how they destroy and shoot everything at Chuck E Cheese. Or just a potential aftermath imagined by the person drawing the animatic, since the series end pretty much there. - 3:13 Wish fulfillment, again. As I said, the series ended at Tommy's party, so they did not find a very much alive Benrey again. However, since he had been able to come back to life for the whole series, well... One can dream. Hope this was interesting to anyone and that I didn't miss anything :) Also sorry for the mistakes, I'm french and a bit of an idiot oops

Okay I'm going to go on a fucking rant about this animatic because it's honestly. My favorite animatic on the face of the earth. I rewatch it every time it pops into my reccommended. It's basically Coomer and Bubby going "Oh yeah these bitches gay" and Gordon going _"NO (maybe a little bit)"_ for three whole minutes and it's fucking hilarious. I went on a whole rant in Discord to my friends about it so here we go First of all. Your art. God I love your art. The way you draw the characters is just so PERFECT. I aspire to draw Benrey with as much gender as you imbue him with. And your expressions and body language are just. SO GOOD. Your art is so cartoony and expressive and I just fucking ADORE IT. There are so many frames from this that are just filled to the BRIM with chaotic energy and I FUCKING LOVE IT. And your BACKGROUND. GOD I want to just grab your background skills and eat them. I cannot express my emotions any other way. I want to eat them. This animatic is absolutely HILARIOUS. Gordon trying to talk about the military and the ailens and the resonance cascade while the rest of the gang is trying to talk about how he's completely head over heels for this eldritch deity who is also a gamer is SO in character. The chocolate soda. The chocolate fucking soda. It sounds like a crime and it fits so perfectly into HLVRAI and I LOVE IT. Okay now I'm just gonna go through the animatic and look at specific moments that make me vibrate into a wall /pos [0:38] Instance one of you being SO FUCKING GOOD with the lyrics and the syncing and this song was perfect. Benrey has sharp teeth and Sweet Voice and it just WORKS [0:45] The fact that Benrey is just. Watching this. He's just watching Coomer torment Gordon with the fact that everyone knows he's into Benrey, and Benrey is just sitting there grinning like "he wants me so bad it makes him look stupid
