This was fun. It was my first time painting with new, expensive water color paints and I can tell SUCH a difference in the vibrancy! I will say though, that I put the last color layer into the clouds and it dried so fast it was impossible to get water to diffuse the color. Lesson learned. It was for the front of my Mother's Day card so I will just put some text over the sky! Thanks Sarah!

Glad you enjoyed it! Smart adjustment to help cover the parts that didn't turn out how you'd like.

Keenan, the best way to eat a toasted marshmallow is to cook it to that perfect golden brown (with the middle not quite done), take it off the coals, eat the toasted outside skin (possibly burning the heck out of your tongue), and then put the uncooked middle back over the fire for another round of toasting!

Sarah - Would you consider a desert themed box? The red rocks of Sedona would make an amazing painting. Cactus flowers, roadrunners, lizards, coyotes. All kinds of things to do!
@LetsMakeArt3 жыл бұрын
It would be fun to incorporate more desert themed paintings. Sarah has done a couple of cacti paintings in the past and has a fun Prickly Pear project next month. Did you see the Desert Dusk project from this month? The video is releasing for it tomorrow: www.letsmakeart.com/pages/desert-dusk-project

You are the creative director of your own artwork. We are so proud that you recognized the direction your piece was going and went with it. You can do the clouds on another painting.

I would love to hear more details about how Sarah irons her paintings! Also, my brain interpreted the white space around the flowers as more flowers. I was fully expecting her to say she left the white space on purpose to suggest white flowers rather than it being a technique preference. Love how paintings can work like that, not to mention how much it helps take away the pressure of feeling like you need to paint something perfectly.

Isn't it interesting how our brain fills in the gaps for us?

If we don't have liquid watercolors or those ones, any suggestions which colors I can use ?
@LetsMakeArt3 жыл бұрын
You can use tube or pan paints as well. Sarah prefers the liquid watercolors because of their vibrant consistency but you can always play along with supplies that you have on hand.

What do you guys do with paper you use to swatch at the beginning? Please say you reuse it. Same with all the leftover paint. It would be a ton of waste of materials.
@LetsMakeArt3 жыл бұрын
Sarah often swatches on the back of another project. The artists do not love washing their palettes if they do not have to and will often keep creating with the same palette for multiple projects. Sarah has shown this in a few tutorials in the past, usually her Let's Make Art Matter videos.

Can I know what brand is your watercolor?😊

Hi Aria! Sarah is using Dandelion Paint Co. liquid watercolors. You can find them on our website here: www.letsmakeart.com/products/dandelion-paint-co-15ml-watercolors

Hi Scottie! We use Dandelion Paint Co. paints in almost all of our tutorials. This is an in house brand of paint that is similar to Dr. P.H. Martins and can be found on our website here: www.letsmakeart.com/search?view=shop&q=Dandelion+Paint
