These are terrific videos for new players picking up the system - thank you for investing the time to produce them. Since they will (and should) be used by new viewers and players in th future who are learning the system, a few misstatements should be clarified: 8:35 (demonstrating the FT): “The triangle says this X10 works only for elite units.” While it’s true the breakdown number is higher for elite units than non-elites, that’s not what the triangle means. A triangle on a unit indicates that the weapon does not benefit from any leader’s leadership modifiers. 12:00 (demonstrating the DC): “You have to remember that when you enter a hex with enemy units, then the enemy firepower is tripled. So for example these two units have normally ten together, but when firing on the same hex they have 30.” While this is true of Triple Point Blank Fire in other cases, this is not correct in conjunction with executing DC attacks in Starter Kits. A unit places a DC by expending the MF necessary to enter the target hex, but the unit does not actually enter the target hex, and any defensive fire triggered by the placement MFs is taken in its current hex (adjacent to the target hex). It spends the Movement Points it would cost to hypothetically enter that hex, but in Starter Kit it does not move into it; it remains in a hex adjacent to it. See Starter Kit Rule 4.3 (“The act of placing the DC is considered movement in the location occupied by the placing unit, not in the location where the DC is actually placed.”). Therefore, the attacker would be subject to a defender’s doubling Point Blank Fire for being adjacent to the defender, but not Triple Point Blank Fire. 1:00:00 (the actual DC attack during T2 of the game): “Their firepower is halved due to Final Fire, and then it is tripled because they are firing on the same hex. “ As mentioned above, this is misinterpreted. The Final Fire by the Soviet 447 is doubled as Point Blank Fire, not tripled as Triple Point Blank Fire. Same result in this demonstration, of course, but TPBF is not factored in on the DC attack.

Hi ! At 55:40, the Russian leader rolled a natural 12 on his MC, so he should have suffered a Casualty Reduction, meaning he would have been ‘wounded’ in his case (SMC).

Thank you I really enjoyed this. You are a good teacher. Please continue to make Starter Kit videos. I have all the starter kits but have not opened #2 yet.

I do believe the 4-4-7 in O5 should be marked with a Final Fire because of cowering. (30:25)

Fantastic vid and my favourite ASLSK scenario, wish I could give two thumbs up.

This is a great video! Thanks so much. I am still new to ASLSK but I think triple point blank fire does NOT apply to using a demo charge. Rule 4.3 says "The act of placing the DC is considered movement in the location occupied by the placing unit, not in the location in which the DC is actually placed.". Also, with assault fire, you add one and round any fractions up to the next whole number, not the next column which I think you did. Someone correct me if this is wrong. Thanks again for the great video!

Thanks for these English-language playthroughs. It really helps me to solidify my understanding of the flow of ASL(SK) gameplay. The occasional mistake is fine in this regard, because I can read the comments for corrections and recognise my own progress when I can identify them. Between you and Stew (from Stew's Replays), I may one day tame the ASL Beast!

Did you forget to remove the ‘Demolition charge’ counter from the map after it exploded (in the large building)? Or did the squad have two charges?

Great video and in english - keep up this fantastic work. One question: When the russian 8-1 leader takes a 1MC after the FT attack (55:35) it rolls a natual 12. Should he not ELR, be wounded and break?
@wojnanaplanszy50583 жыл бұрын
Yes, he should.

At 59:20, when you move the Germans into an adjacent building hex, and expend 2 movement factors, why didn’t the Russians fire twice? I thought you could fire as many times as MF spent and firings available. Couldn’t you have done defensive first fire and subsequent fire or even final fire ?

Doesn't the roll need to be equal or higher than the breakdown number for the weapon to break? I think you described it the other way around.
@wojnanaplanszy50583 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right, It has to be equal or higher.

8:05 breaking Russian LMG B11 or more (not less ;-) )
@michalxo3 жыл бұрын
More rules: 8:30 - triangle (not sure if used in SK), but it means, that leader modifier can't be applied. `A.10 LEADERSHIP DRM (Δ)` `X10` (and break number of inexperienced MMC is general concept afaik) - `Non-elite MMC that use the FT lower its X# by two.`. I will keep on listening you carefully. :)

What tool did you use to trim the corners on your counters?

I get them like that form previous owner.

nail trimmers work well.

The corners are too even for nail clippers. My guess would be an Oregon Lamination 2mm counter rounder.
