16:25 When the Sabertooth attacked the Pingvi, both of these defense rolls were successes. In OPR a natural 6 always succeeds and a natural 1 always fails, regardless of modifiers. AoF:S rulebook, Page 5, Modifiers, Paragraph 2.

My gaming group went OPR at the end of 40k 9th edition and never looked back. Great simple system, good armybuilder, small but nice community. Gotta love it.

Always love your videos. Just miss when you played malifaux. Those old videos were great and it's a game that doesn't get a lot of love.

One of the best things about OPR is that the actual Army Creator tool is available to every tier 1 or 2 subscriber. So anyone can make an army for any minis they have that don't have an army book already (or do & they just want it to be different).

I've been gaining interest in OPR so this is a very timely video! Look forward to further videos for your AoF Skirmish campaign.

It's really good, that the system gets recognition on such a renowned channel. As I see it - the game's core was created upon ashes of the "good old times" 40k, making adaptations and adjustments, without breaking the mentality of it from the 4th-ish edition. It kept me wargaming when the horrors of 6th and 7th edition of 40k poured into the world (all power to those who liked it - good for you! It was not for me though).

Tough adjusts the roll you need to take someone out and you only take Knock Out checks when wounds>=Tough value. ie, a Tough 3 model mean you need to roll 8+ on a Knock Out roll. The owlbear shouldn't have been taken out by the kitty because you needed to roll a 5 (+3 to the roll but you need an 8).
@alexklunder43745 ай бұрын
Thought you didn't take a wound check for a tough 3 model until the third wound has been given? This part of the rule i have heard alot of different explanations for. And for some reason I always get freshly confused whenever its brought up lol
@cjwestphal3975 ай бұрын
@@alexklunder4374 The easiest way I explain this for Skirmish is to just treat a Tough [3] model as you would a 3-man squad of single-wound models.
@Balmong7-y4s4 ай бұрын
@@alexklunder4374that’s correct. But the way the game works is the 3 wounds you take still count towards your modifier for the wound roll. So basically on a tough 3 model you don’t take a check until you take 3 wounds. But when you do you roll a d6+3 is the result is 8 or higher you die. Otherwise you live.
@MrStratofish4 ай бұрын
@@Balmong7-y4s edit note: I am wrong, see below I've being getting confused with this too, but that doesn't sound right. The 1-5 and 6 appear to be fixed in the rules and the wounds are added to just the roll. So with 3 wounds you would roll d6+3 and still die on a 6+, not an 8. The example given in the rules also suggests that - "Example: A Skeleton has just taken one wound and must now check its effect. It rolls one die and gets a 5, and adds +1 because it had one wound. The final result is 6 and so the model is Knocked Out." [edit] Oh. in a completely separate section explaining Tough(x) it says "This model only rolls to check for wound effects once it has taken at least X wounds, and is only Knocked Out on rolls of 5+X or more. Example: A model with Tough(3) only rolls for wound effects once it has taken 3 wounds or more, and is Knocked Out on rolls of 8+." Bah why can't they just put the standard info around a rule in a single place in the rules :(
@Balmong7-y4s4 ай бұрын
@@MrStratofishbecause it only affects models with the Tough rule. Tough is an exception to standard. Therefore the exception is explained in the Tough rules text.

My personal problem with OPR (from my limited exposure) is an abolute lack of flavour. It has a very strong 'bootleg warhammer' vibe. I guess you can't have everything
@Balmong7-y4s4 ай бұрын
I would honestly go even further than that. It doesn’t even feel like bootleg Warhammer. Basically every army plays exactly the same due to the simplicity of the system. You have to aggressively add your own flavor during gameplay to have it feel like anything. Which for me is fine because I just want to roll dice and tell stories. But I definitely understand it putting off others.
