A trick I learned: if you shake all the trees, you get 2000 bells total your first day from the bells that fall from them, and 2 items. If you do it before you have a house, no wasps will spawn, so you don't have to worry about being stung. Thought I'd leave that in the comments for anyone else who's started playing again recently. It's not much, but it helps. Also, thank you Mori for uploading these. They're such cozy videos, I love it.

This was a good tip, but I just started, got my tent set up and saved the game. And when I returned the same day after reading this, i went to do it and got stung 3 times 😢 lucky you don't pass out after getting stung more than once though 😅🎉

Chances of trees dropping bells are very small if you plant bells with the golden shovel.

You don't have to wait for the detailed description for your fish,insects wait for a minute and then go to your fish or insect,etc... section of the museum and you will see the description and critter already there :)
