you should open it up and play!! I haven't played in awhile and the only thing holding me back is lack of a solo option. I found a system for moving ships in a game like this for AI, but it wasn't good. I think I'll hit board game geek and see if anyone has come up with a nice AI for ship movement. Actually you still have to roll on the maneuver chart even though they’re going in the same direction there is a Die roll to determine one ship might get a couple more movement points than the other.

How is this game solo?

That's a great question. It's ok solo. The problem is figuring out how to move the opponent ship. I spent a lot of time trying to find games with AI rules for age of sail movement rules and there are a few. But finding something for this game hasn't been easy. However, once you sort out moving the opponent ship in a manner that doesn't purposely put it in a bad position, it plays solo very well!
