Have never particularly gone for the article side of game channels. But Matt and Alex both seem just so darn lovely that I cant wait to see how that translates into written form. Dicebreaker is building into something really special

This game arrived this morning in the post. I had watched this video when it came out and I started looking around to try and find it. Managed to get lucky on Amazon. Been playing it all afternoon with the family. Great fun. We had a few 3-5 player games with ages between 9-34. Easy to pick up, even the kids got the hang of it quickly. But wanted to say thanks Dicebreaker. Your review got me interested in this game.

Looks like a fun little game, and both Matt and Alex fit neatly into the Dicebreaker family. Happy to see you, and hope to see more of you in the future. :) One point of critique though... The overlay panel showing the three of you covered half the area where you stored the gems. That's not really that bad, but when Matt put down his cards and didn't say out loud what it was we had no way of knowing what was good or not. Just a little heads up for future videos. ;)

*sees gems* Alright, new rule for my home board games: try to find little gummy gems for after the game. That way every one wins! Unless the gummies are terrible, in which case every one loses!
@marhawkman3035 жыл бұрын
Also make sure to carefully store the gummies, or everyone dies... :p

Looks like a fun game (and a great into to the new team members!). If you like this you should check out Botswana (also known as Wildlife Safari) which plays really similar but you're not picking up gems - instead you collect big plastic animals (lions, elephants, zebras, etc) with each animal worth an unknown number of points until the end of the game. The information about values is also more dynamic in Botswana.

Looks neat. Seems to play fast. A bit competitive. Might buy at some point. (That's why I love channels like this, I can preview games before I buy them... of course, I often end up seeing a bright shiny new game in the store without any reviews and pick it up anyway...)

As an Archaeologist, I always feel personally attacked by how board games portray my job. ABSOLUTELY no idea why 🤐
@carolinelabbott24515 жыл бұрын
@Spideog of Highgate At least they have the good manners to take the remains of the dead person, along side the other artifacts to keep them together. Also the excellent note taking of all the painstaking details of the archeological site. Very thorough job.❤️🙂
@tomsharp69865 жыл бұрын
@Spideog of Highgate Modern Archaeology is done in the form of rescuing sites from being built over and everything is recorded to mm detail.
@AndrewMcColl5 жыл бұрын
@@tomsharp6986 sounds like a fun idea for a game. Players racing against the clock to protect a site (or sites) from greedy developers, industrial polluters, Nazi plunderers, etc. Each turn you use different investigative techniques to gather evidence about the site. Hit the target number, and the site is saved. Needs some more work, like including an Event deck that hinders the work, but it's a start.
@marhawkman3035 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewMcColl Or, a sort of sim management game where the goal is to see which player can document the largest area of a site?
@cthulhufhtagn24835 жыл бұрын
I'd play a board game that was actually archaeology. Like, just finding an artifact will get you some points, but what you want to do then is get information cards or something about that artifact, and those multiply the points you get from the artifact. Maybe even finding multiple artifacts from the same site would multiply the two scores by each other. The more points you bring in on round 1, the more funding you get for round 2, and so on. That could be pretty neat.

Just a nitpick but I'd rather have the face cam in the big picture and table in small one, just so table isn't covered. Or multi-cam that changes view. I don't like having a quadrant covered the whole time
