From humble foundations to a bustling, money making, medieval settlement! Villagers is a card drafting and tableau building game for 1-5 players in which you bring the best tradesmen and women together to establish a brand new village. But who do you bring, and can you shine amongst the competition? More importantly, is it good?

A little off brand here, but I want to thank Johnny from the bottom of my heart for indirectly getting me interested in D&D and the role of DM. The wonderful world of D&D has simply changed my life and has brought so much fun and memorable moments for me and my friends. So thank you Mr. Chiodini. And as always all the best with this great channel, love it already

I enjoyed the review, though I'm not sure I needed as much detail on the rules. Some in-game show and tell would've been great aswell. Maybe you could record a session and put in some "look, that's how it plays out sometimes"-moments? Have to say, production quality is great, as well as the writing.

It is good they described them because the rules are quite innovative for a card game.

Intrigued by the game but found the rules a little hard to follow when simply explained - would be great to see more of a play through to go with what you're saying, just to make it easier to follow visually!

This was wonderful. Usually boardgame reviews are dull and dry. However this was not, it had humour and didn't overwhelm the viewer with complex details. Bravo.

gonna go pick this up right now just on the force of this review (and the pretty, pretty style)! agree with other commenters that watching a game (or even a round) of play would both help illustrate the gameplay, although i do appreciate the straightforward rule breakdown and editorial commentary, and be entertaining to boot :)

The editing style makes it a little hard to follow sometimes, the sped up video capture + VO is harder to intuatively follow than a "live" explanation with someone holding the pieces as they talk, and the frequent talk to camera sections where you cant see the layout of the game etc. It's still early days though, best of luck Dicebreaker!

I really enjoy the content so far. Just finished watching what you've got so far and I hope you'll continue with a mix of reviews and gameplay videos. Any chance you could do some videos around a specific theme or type of game? Like a video specifically for 2-4 player games that take under an hour or maybe one with about games with a pirate theme so Johnny can help us avoid some of all the bad ones. I'm rather new to boardgames and definitely plan to keep an eye on this channel for some solid recommendations and entertaining gameplay. Keep up the good work and best of luck with the channel.

Well that's me persuaded. I don't have many friends who are willing to play boardgames with me so the idea of a solo campaign or 2 player mode really appeals to me, especially if that game mode is still able to have a lot of depth without the extra players.

Great first review guys - if I can offer some constructive criticism though, it would be nice to see more B-roll sooner and more frequently. Too many board game KZbin channels are static shots of people saying their thoughts with little of the games to actually watch. You're already leagues ahead by bothering with stuff like scripting and editing, so I'm excited to see where you take this! :D

The rules are not easy to learn. The game mechanics are new and fun hard to wrap your head around. The pnp is much cheaper but was a pain to construct. That said, it has low table and shelf footprint and is very portable. We played it in a pub so not much lighting was needed. Game was fun but takes more than an hour to complete.
