@@Shafethenerd I had to be reminded that witnesses don't learn the weapons and clues, because her pointing out the rag out of the blue was SUCH a dead giveaway. She could've maybe stealthed it into her speech with a "No one's *_really_* safe, Ken has a napkin and Sully has an oil soaked rag..." but randomly going "oh and one more thing!! I really really really don't want anyone to overlook the rag!" was it. the End. I seriously forgot witnesses don't see anything but the perps, it was so blatant I thought for a moment she *_must_* have seen it during the night!
@aurora5481
@aurora5481 6 ай бұрын
@@baydiac To be fair, Sully's exact downfall was the fact that only one of his cards in any way could be read to connect to Restaurant, so as soon as she'd figured out which of them was the culprit, there was only one murder weapon that made sense. What made her really obvious as the witness for me was how much she was protesting being looked at, especially in contrast to game 1. A murderer would've allowed some combinations to get tested, but a witness who knew how astray everyone had been led would be very worried about how many badges would be left before more clues could be revealed.

What do you mean? I was facepalming instantly in confusion when Restaurant got chosen in the second match - it almost felt staged, or as if the Forensic is siding with the killer. Until the very very end, there was absolutely 0 connection to the restaurant, and they got lucky they had a card which could basically point to a single piece of evidence on the table (the oil rags). If the killer won because of not being guessed, that was entirely on the Forensic because of giving some weird mental-gymnastic location clue.
@carsonc5576
@carsonc5576 Жыл бұрын
@@kawaiinda6252 if you’ve worked in a restaurant or seen *any* media like featuring a restaurant or even BEEN at most restaurants, there are dirty, greasy rags from cleaning everywhere! Fry cooks are almost always depicted with an oil soaked rag thrown over their shoulder. Bobs burgers literally has multiple gags around how dirty their rags get or an entire episode around oily rags being v combustible. The fact is the victims clothes being dirty also pointed to the oily rags bc not much else would actively make their clothes dirty. Also it really narrowed down the items to things found in a restaurant kitchen, which lead to only three items truly being sus. I’m actually going to blame Adam for assuming the only oil was petroleum.

A big part of this game is how fast Forensic Scientist places clues. I never-ever have them all placed immediately! It's a crucial part of this game. Rulebook explains it really well that players should discuss between placing each bullet. (In fact, a good house rule is for players to "request" analysis of a specific new clue, but this reduces player agency of the Scientist.)

On the "break immediately" rule, it's also supposed to be communication as clues are placed and that being a part of how forensic shows what's important so they compensate. But I think it's a really valid rule at a table, because it stops second guessing overtalkers from just going but A, but B, but A, but B in an analysis paralysis loop. Combined with the "no disruptions" it gives everyone space and keeps the game from being highjacked by someone who wants to spend all night on solving it no matter. How hard you enforce those rules really should depend on how much you want to make sure everyone gets to talk and how much you want the game to end (so you can re-rack and play again if you like to)

Safron flowers are indeed purple, however the spice is not made out of the flower's petals. It's made of the flower's stigma/style (the filament thing in the middle), which are orange/crimson. That's also why it's such an expensive spice, it's around US$ 30.000 per kg. Imagine having to plant and harvest that many tiny filaments, the amount of work just to get 1kg of this thing.

You get an interesting view into everyone's psyche when you play this game. What's a great clue to one person might be a really bad clue to someone else. I don't think there was anything wrong with Terri's clues. Terri thinks differently than I do, and that's part of this game's elegance. Because once you get an understanding of your forensic's line of thinking, you get better. . . . . . . Me, on game two, I'd take a look at oil soaked rag + plug and I'd say "Clearly this person died in an accident". But maybe for this group of players, accident would point much harder at, say, being eaten by a lion, crashing your zeppelin (Oh, the humanity!) or even Blair's Tequila. Knowing the forensic expert is important, but so is the forensic expert knowing their investigators. And with so many weapons and clues on the board, I think it's always forgivable if the clue giver misses something "obvious" in someone else's clues. That's part of the fun, and feels like the whole point.

Love these Deception games! It does seem really hard to win with a large number of players and without the additional 'victim that can be guessed' dynamic. I've not played them yet myself but played the Noir series and games with that a similar dynamic like The Chameleon - if you guess the word then you still win. You're playing Muffin Time next? Good swords require a bit of research to locate, but if you live somewhere like the US where weapons aren't terribly hard to get, then it's damn easy to get just any random sword. At the mall, there's like a whole store filled with swords and knives and stuff. Mostly only good for decoration, but you could still kill someone with one. And you could just order a sword from Amazon. So, Blair is right, swords aren't difficult to acquire.

Seems like a fun game, but would have been great if there was some urgency to solve the case earlier. There just seems to be no reason not to wait till the last round. You can interrupt during a presentation to solve the crime so the last presentation would not have been wasted. I also think they went for ending the game right after the last presentation to create some urgency. I think it might have made for an interesting and a bit more stressful end of game moment, especially if the last presenter is the murderer who could just end his presentation right away and claim victory.

Spoilers Why were they so angry at the end... they nailed it in one guess! A shame about right after though... Also, I think the murderer and accomplice are allowed to discuss together at the final stage. That way the murderer doesn't accidently pick them.

On the matter of obtaining swords, up until about 10 years ago they used to sell swords in a store insides Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World. Universal’s Islands of Adventure had a store with swords later than that. Heck, a seller at New York Comic Con had a display last time I was there. To counter my own statement, these are not common locations either.

Side note, we had to get everyone to take their arms off the table. because people could "feel" when someone moved to point at their cards.

Blair had such an easy out in the first game, how I would've phrased it is, "*In comparison* to things like the obsidian sword, knife glove, nanomachines, and laser shark, sword is one of the easier things on the table to get, and therefore pointing out that it's hard to get would be weird. I don't even know where to get a steamroller, is there a steamroller store? I don't think so, but there are, in SOME parts of the world, blade stores."

I think most of us in the UK think of oily rags as in a garage , building site, type of thing , not Restaurant , I think it threw the majority of players Although Laurie did mention it , at that stage though Restaurant was still a red herring pointing to burger Terri managed to pull it round though by helping Adam get to the truth. It's tough because it's a game with odd connotations , some are so weird that the locations or descriptions don't work which makes it harder. Not keen on this game tbh

If "bit of googling" means "googling the sentence 'buy sword online' and clicking the first result", then yes. Swords are seriously not that difficult to acquire. I know, I was surprised too.

to be fair, if they said restaurant in the second round, everyone would have focused on "BURGER" even though the death was by suffocation. They could state that the victim choked on their food while eating causing death by suffocation.
