I feel like Adam was a little unfair to point out they would have heard his second move. It's not even clear they were even aware that a special card could do that... a good gamer with knowledge of that card existing would immediately say "unless that card he played was the silent one"... and they are good players.
@Clumbob
@Clumbob 2 жыл бұрын
@@Spanner1971B Yeah, that felt really cheap to me. He reminded the players of a rule they forgot (because it helped him if they knew) but didn't remind them of the caveat that meant that information wasn't 100% accurate (because it would have hurt him if they knew). That's the kind of move that's totally valid if it's a game everyone knows well enough to know all the rules, but feels like an abuse of game knowledge if you're pulling it on newer players who don't actually know the rules. At that point you aren't tricking them, you're just lying to them.
@LifeUntilLove
@LifeUntilLove 2 жыл бұрын
@@Clumbob But pointing out you could have used a card is announcing that you used a card to make the move. The whole point of having the cards be unknown is to give the sniper some wiggle room. Adam stated he used the card at the time and if they forgot that, it is on them. If Adam had drawn additional attention to it, they would have figured it out immediately
@Clumbob
@Clumbob 2 жыл бұрын
@@LifeUntilLove Right, which is why he should have just said nothing. He "corrected" their "mistake" by partially explaining the rules in order to convince them he mechanically couldn't be in one of the spots they wanted to investigate. Reminding new players of exclusively the rules that benefit you is a pretty underhanded tactic.

@@atesemireltutar6661 well, kind of, kind of not I would say. Defenestration in the Czech Republic was perceived like angry crowd of peasants (for example the Hussites in the first case) who threw some government workers out of the window. And thought Jan Masaryk could be defined as that because he was a minister, his death was, and still is a mystery. It happen in the night, no angry crowd and I think that the authorities presented as a suicid3. But it's believed that the Soviet who recently occupied Prague and the country were responsible for that. And frankly, after seeing that there are people "randomly" falling out of windows in the modern day Russia for dissagreeing with the current politics there, I would be surprised if they were using this method before as well.

He only said that he had to have sprinted both moves to reach the far away from the edges spots they were discussing which was absolutely true, it was laurie who then noticed on his own that this meant one of the guards should have been alerted and he knew adam had played a card that turn so assuming that had something to do with it would have been well within reason but they didn't thats not adams fault. I question Sully's historical knowledge or at the least his firearm knowledge, though to be fair he is British. They've come over to the US in large numbers for low prices and they tend to work fairly well, though not accurate by modern standards they do in fact go bang. I have one that was made in Izhevsk in 1942 with the serial number prefix Л, it would not be surprising if my rifle was at Stalingrad at some point, since the date and serial number would imply it was made a relatively short time before and that was the deadliest battle of WWII. Though it is true that not enough of these rifles were present at the beginning of the war with a non-aggression pact between Germany and the USSR (and warning signs of Germany's upcoming violation of the pact reportedly ignored), but now to this day it is estimated that it is the second or third most produced rifle ever (behind the Kalashnikov family and by some estimates the Gewer 98).

my thoughts exactly. They rarely to never had less guns than they had men on any front and men sent into battle carried at least a bolt-action rifle. The scene from "enemy at the gates" is a heady mix of misinterpreted first-hand accounts about the lack of cohesion and tactical acumen during the years 1941-1942. As for their weapons being so horrifically unreliable, no. Their weapons were very reliable with a few excaptions. Those being the PPSH drum magazines having feeding issues, but those were rarely carried. The ammo was the main issue, due to the speed at which ammo needed to be pumped out there was the issue of large ammounts of under pressurized cartridges causing cycling issues in direct blowback weapons, like the PPSH and TT-30 both chambered in 7.62x25 Tokarev. This was not an issue for the SVT-38 or the SVT-40 as they were notoriously overgassed, and obviously not a problem for a bolt-action.

It's a bit too easy being the Sniper imo, so I added needing to exfiltrate after completing the second objective. The wat I do it is make a random entrance, (not the one you're in) the exfil point. It also adds a bit more time to the game 😅

I was wondering how this game would translate to the tabletop since it's a game about shooty-bang-bang times. Hidden movement makes so much sense! In between the shooty-bang-bangs, you have to make sure that your enemies can't see you as you cover ground.

Hi Adam. Don’t expect you to remember this, but on the HIAC watchalong livestream I had suggested for a patreon exclusive “hidden” style of video for BOTC. Where we could play along and guess what is going on. So happy to see it finally adopted. Hopefully it receives great feedback and we can see this concept for BOTC someday. Cheers!

something cool you might be able to pull off for games like this. would be to have someone controlling the lights on the table during the game. in this game for ex you could have the lights fade from blue to yellow when a the sniper has been located. when the sniper is hit it could flash to red and fade back to yellow on the first wound. obviously it would not work on all games, but for some games like this it might be cool. maybe a patreon only feature to give the viewers who contribute some more unique content. just a thought.
