Nice video. I especially like the giant torii gate. Worth noting that you have misunderstood melee rolls. ALL dice are rolled simultaneously. This becomes relevant with traits like Martial Prowess on Itsunagi, where he may choose an attack or defence die to re-roll. Success levels are then calculated in order of the miniature with the initiative, rather than rolling in order of initiative. Armour also doesn't reduce Wounds, as played at 42:06. It reduces the total roll, in much the same way as the Bakemono's -1 Melee Strength. Chiyo is a woman :)

this was really helpful. theres almost no online video resources for this game and i found the rules for this game pretty confusing when just reading the rulebook through. actually watching it played through made it so much clearer. great vid.

That's good to see you're getting into bushido, personnally I find it to be one of the best mini games I've ever played. Piece of advice for later Ash: All-attack dice pool should only happen when your opponent is to be killed, with 1 dice left in their dice pool, or something like that. It's one of the rare games where defense actually pays off :) Especially against 10 hit-points + toughness Oni, they will withstand your attack with only 1 dice def most of the time, and one shot in response. You need to wear them down, but you'll get the feel of this after a couple of games ;)

fantastic intro to Bushido well done guys. Just a clarification though Armour reduces the number rolled for damage on your 2 dice whereas Toughness reduces the number of wounds taken. Top stuff though!

My FLGS has/had several models in their shelf of unloved games. [discount rack] I picked up one for an art piece I did. There wasn't much interest for this game in my area, but I'm glad to see this I know what it's like.

Thanks for getting this to the table! I've been trying to find a demo of this game for a while now and as usual you knocked it out of the park with your enthusiasm and production values. I was totally into it until the combat. For a game with so many "modern" mechanics, I was pretty shocked to see a damage table right out of 1985. Surely there is a more elegant system. Also, for a game with so few models, it was disappointing to see the cheapest mooks eliminate the "elite" heroes in single attacks. (I can understand getting squashed by an Oni) Maybe just bad rolls?

It seems like a waste of material that the Tired and Exhausted tokens are separate. I would have made them double-sided, with Tired on one side and Exhausted on the other.

Alefiend thankfully the official, and unofficial, ones you can buy are double sided. Though it feels like there are too many tokens at times.

To the number 42. 4-2 in Japanese is "shi"-"ni", and "shi ni" means to die.

Been browsing the website a bit, got me wondering: Is there an Expansion Book or something like that, with the Tengu (and also the pirates, for that matter)? Since they didn't seem to be in your big book.

Both those factions get brief mentions in the core book and the faction symbols can be seen briefly at 3:33 Also glimpsed on the same page, are the symbols for the Bear and Eagle clans that have not been released yet. There is currently no schedule for additional background books, but all character cards are readily viewable.

Looking to get into this game and was wondering what D2 meant as far as Oni Rage goes. Oni Rage: During Ki Generation this model may gain an additional number of Ki Tokens equal to D2.

Shouldn't Sakura have rolled 6 dice for her X value on the Ki Feat? Or have I missed a part of the rules? IIRC under opposed tests it states that you use the X value of a Ki feat for its opposed roll. Edit: scratch that. Was confusing games.

You take the highest succes and all other successes give +1. So in this case rolling a 3 and 2 becomes 3 +1 = 4

Christopher Munoz that was more of a foolish mistake as you should always have at least 1 defense dice. Well... Unless if is against some little mook that is almost guaranteed to be killed do to bonuses and the like.

Some of the older sculpts have a lower quality paint job on them that doesn't "sell" them very well. In hand they are much better.
