Classic tunnel vision. Perhaps they should have utilised the psychic bond once they realised they'd lost him, try to get a direction (since they canvassed the entirely opposite side of Europe)
@randomjunk1977Ай бұрын
This is my second favorite game of all time. I've played it several times, usually as Dracula. The psychic bond is by far the most powerful tool the hunters have. Groups that make good use of it definitely have always given me the most trouble.
@robertbouley7697Ай бұрын
@@randomjunk1977Agreed. Activating it a second time, after crossing a border, gives I great sense of direction for the group. One time, I saw Dracula dance across to avoid and that was rough. 😅

I think they had separated Mina from pretty much all the other hunters by that point, unfortunately.
@mamalmiАй бұрын
@@plzletmebefrank Yea they had Mina holding down Vienna to try and prevent him from going South East while everyone else was supposed to close in on him. Once they felt like they lost him, should have had Mina come up and join to use that power and just see if he was in that region. If they had done that Jon would have been in trouble.

There’s a literal game mechanic that if Dracula makes an illegal move, the Dracula player suffers some severe in game repercussions. I feel if you’re not actually playing, keeping Jon honest is more fun anyway. At any rate, I appreciate the editing team not caring what Jon proposed would be happening as ‘host’.
@mamalmiАй бұрын
Yea it would be great if they did a patreon version where you could watch them play and not know where Dracula is and play along with the hunters.
@BlogofoaАй бұрын
Loved watching Jon psych out the hunters with the clever use of the roadblocks. There were some mistakes made which ended the game prematurely in Jon's favor, though. One, Dracula doesn't get to put a encounter card on his starting location, so that vampire should never have been there, which netted him four points early and cleared spots off the trail prematurely. Another is that even though Dracula can put two vampire encounter cards in one location, only one will mature and earn you points. You mature each card one at a time, and all vampire cards instruct you to clear out locations 4,5 and 6 on the trail. So the first matured vampire card would remove the second one before it can mature. Found that out the hard way when I had a vampire card wipe out consecrated ground when I matured them in the wrong order!
@Allen-PАй бұрын
Wow...I didn't Think they made any game breaking errors, but the last one is huge. The first vamp would probably be in position two, so likely to happen anyway, but only 4 points at the end is a huge difference. Guess they would play another hour!
@Allen-PАй бұрын
@@benallen2513 Reading the card of New Vamp, it says "then clear this hideout", which would remove the other encounter card. I read a thread that the official FFG response was only 1 vamp can mature. If it was a Fog, you'd mature fog first, and then the Vamp, and that's totally ok. But if Vamp first, it says to clear the hideout.

I'm only about halfway through the playthrough (watching it in chunks) but thought I'd comment now anyway. I've been recording Fury of Dracula videos for over 2 years now - I'm so passionate about the game that it fills me with sheer joy anytime I see new videos of people playing it, especially nowadays when it's been out of print for quite a while. It's such a wonderful game with many different facets (deduction, bluffing, movement, resource management, rock-paper-scissors combat) and every game is unique. There have been a few rules mistakes up to where I've stopped for now, but I don't overly blame the players; it seems simple on the surface but there is a lot to consider in terms of all the different events, interactions etc. I don't know how much time they (or at least one of them) had to study the game beforehand. Once you get into the rules in even more depth, you'll find strange consistencies and interactions that even the makers of the game didn't consider, and the amount of strategy that goes into even a single game is immense. If anyone is interested a lot in this game but cannot find the physical version, there is a digital edition with a small but dedicated Discord community, where we normally play 1v1. There is an AI but it's not great, unfortunately.

Having read the book somewhat recently, the thing about Dracula "respecting national borders" is KIND OF a thing? It was written at a time when "ownership of land" still had this quasi-spiritual notion, and of course the English were correct about all of it, so there's a huge chunk of the book that is DEDICATED to explaining Victorian property laws, and how Dracula taking ownership of this property is quite literally like him taking 'hold of the "spirit" of England.

When playing as Dracula I love when the players own over confidence sees them start to make mistakes. Jon played a blinder by keeping a straight poker face when Sully moved to Berlin and forgot to ask if he'd been there. From that point onwards they just lost the plot. As a viewer though, Rosie moving from Strasbourg to Zurich (one space away from the winning hideout in Geneva) then deciding on the next turn to move back to Strasbourg was just infuriating. By then all logic had gone out the window or the hunters had misunderstood/ forgot the rules on which hideouts are cleared.
