You didn't actually notice, but at around 31:22, you hovered your cursor over an asura character with a red logo near their nickname - that's a marker of an ArenaNet dev xD

hey, welcome to the game! Just a few tips: 1) you don't seem to be using your burst attacks! (warrior mechanic). As a warrior, you have bars that fill up above your weapon skills. Once they're full, you can use a burst attack (the button above your #5 weapon skill). 2) The game has really good tooltips in general. If you're ever confused or have questions about something, more than likely you can mouse over for a tool tip that explains it. For example, you can mouse over your stats and attributes in your hero panel to see how each one of them affects you. 3) Check your mail! (menu at the top left of the screen). The notification icon over your mail probably bugs a lot of long time players :P

Not sure if this has been commented on in your other GW2 playthroughs but the class descriptions in character creation can be pretty misleading. How a class plays and feels can change drastically once you unlock elite specializations at level 80 which usually shoehorns you into using certain weapons as they are required to to play the spec optimally (not always). For example, the Reaper spec for necromancer changes it into a melee class as you must use a greatsword to play the spec. However, the leveling process does give you a decent feel for how the classes play at a baseline level. In endgame group content almost everyone has to play effectively at melee/mid range anyway in order to be within proximity to others to give and receive boons (buffs). Also a tip: disable double-tap to evade and bind it to a separate key for more control.

I have 5 accounts with 50 + lvl 80 toons and I've really enjoyed watching you learn the game. You have so much to look forward too.

Hello there I’m really enjoying your perspective of the game. A quick tip, the skill above your weapon skills is a burst skill (warriors profession skill) this skill changes depending on the weapon you have equipped. Since I haven’t seen you use it and I don’t see it bound it might be a good idea to do so.

A note about the heart quest things: once you complete the heart, you’ll unlock a vendor at the heart icon. They sell all kinds of things, including armor and weapons. It’s been very relaxing watching you play!

story chapters begins at level 10 and you get a new chapter every 10 levels up to level 80,then its season 1 story chapters (which is free and had a relaunch after it being mia for almost 9 years then season 2, heart of thorns expansion ,season 3 path of fire expansion ,season 4 ,the ice brood saga and currently end of dragons expansion ,all of them besides season1 (still being rolled out every 2 months ) are paid content ans well worth the money if your finding yourself enjoying the game

When you are in a completed instance, there is an exit button above the minimap to the right. The Personal Story unlocks a new chapter every 10 levels. The first 3 chapters are based on your race and the choices you made at creation(ex: street/commoner/noble), then the stories all start merging into the core story.

Leveling to 80 is significantly faster than in wow just because there's more stuff to so on the map that awards xp. You can also quest in lower level areas and your character will be down-scaled to fit the lvl of mobs in the area and receive xp; tho there's no real need to. You won't have many problems leveling naturally. The world map is pretty well thought out.

one tip I have: most skills can be used while moving, with the exception of a few channeling skills like your 2nd Greatsword skill it's not an issue now but once you're in the first expac (if you'd decide to buy them that is), you won't survive a second without dancing around enemies all the time it'll take some time to adjust especially if you come from "old combat style" games like wow but if you watch other players you can see it becomes second nature quite comfortably other than that, I'd recommend to just take your time and learn the game at your own pace, no need to rush to 80

the first thing close to a mount you get in the first expansion "Heart of Thorns", which is a glider, you get up high on something and glide until slowly get back to the ground. There is a lot of story to cover before the first expansion. Actual mounts didnt come into GW2 until the second expansion "Path of Fire" , you get the first few mounts Raptor, Springer, Skimmer and Jackal fairly easy, but the Griffon, Beetle and specially the Skyscale are obtained through lengthy quests. the latest mount the Siege Turtle also has a series of quests but its fairly tame compared to the Skyscale.

Also as you're exploring, get some gathering tools from local Merchants (Coin icon over their head). If you don't plan on using them, you can sell on the Trading Post. NEVER PASS UP A GATHERING NODE!!! Edit: Tips Your bags: As you collect things. i.e. Crafting materials, open your bag and there is a Down Arrow icon that will deposit those automatically for you and clear up bag space. You can view/access them at any Bank or Crafting station. Notification above mini map: You can dismiss most of these by Right Clicking them, i.e. Chests and Heart Vendor rewards. They will automatically go in your bags or Wallet. Wallet: Holds specific game currency that is Account Bound. Open your bag and at the bottom left is a "Stack of Coins", click it!!!

I can recommend to try the "Fast with Range Indicator" option under Combat / Movement Ground Targeting. So you don't have to press twice for the whirlwind for example. With this you can hold to aim and it will cast when the button is released.

Played WOW since Vanilla and closed my 2 accts 3 months ago. Was a WOW BG addict. I have at least 8 maxed toons & thought I could never leave. Been playing GW2 for the past 3 months and don't miss WOW at all! GW2 is awesome, you constantly get a ton of goodies, there's NO PRESSURE or those unrelenting "WOW" grinds, tons to do and always TONS of people playing!! The community is so friggin awesome and nice! I'll probably check back with WOW if a new expansion comes out. Hope you have fun playing GW2!

Your videos made me to come back to gw2. I have lvl 43 ranger as it turns out lol. Anyway great content, and you should try action camera option. You should find it in keybind menu how to toggle. It just makes everything more smoothly 🙂

Here's another tip for you. You have a class ability called Burst which would normally be bound to F1 but its currently unbound for you. If you bind and use that skill when your rage is full, you'll do a ton of damage. If you wonder what ability I mean, it's the small icon next to the rage meter above your weapon skills.
@v_ginie48272 жыл бұрын
Please use your class mechanics!!! You have an adrenaline bar with a button yet unbound above your weapon skills. Use it, be more awesome, experience the true warrior and do more damage. Try it out, I can't watch someone go into downstate because they mainly use autoattack and don't move out of enemy attacks. Pro tip: the faster u smash buttons the more dps you do, which means the enemy dies faster and doesn't have as much time to shave off your health :D. The new skill you unlocked gives you quickness, which enables your attacks to be faster. I recommend pressing it at the beginning of a fight. Quickness does however not make you run faster. That boon is called swiftness in the game. You can use swiftness and some of your weapon skills like greatsword 3 and 5 to move around the map faster. Also: you do not have to open your inventory do drag drop weapons into their slots. All the weapons in your inventory are listed and equippable on the left side of the equipment menu. It took me 4 years to learn this game and not be absolute shit. Take your time and enjoy! \o/

Welcome to Guild Wars 2!! Your play through has been great to watch. Nothing is more satisfying than figuring out stuff on your own and you're doing a great job of that. There's lots of awesome tips and comments already so the only thing I'll add is: there is very seldom only one way into or out of a city/town. Claypool for example has three different exits. Two are pretty obvious and one is kind of hidden. I know that exploring every nook and cranny isn't great for KZbin vids, but maybe keep it in mind when doing your own private exploration. Looking forward to watching the rest of your journey.

Some mobs are harder to fight because they are veterans, with a golden ring around them. Then there is the elite which have a silver ring around them. And then champions which is usually not you solo. You can but it will take a long time and can be tedious. They are usually to strong for new players to take out. Then there is The purple spiky ring around a mob that as a legendary, they are usually very hard and nothing you solo at all. One thing though the map is just there as to show you where you are and point to some things that you can go too, but the other areas also usually have some heropoints and events and such so make sure to uncover the whole map and you wont outlevel it. You can also visit other races starting areas if you like. There is a wp open on each area if you look through the map you will find them. And the question about mounts. You wont get mounts until you reach the Path of Fire expansion. The core game never had any mounts becuase of the large waypoint system. With parth of fire they added the first mounts to the game. They are trying some new things out right now and some new players get to experience mounts and i hope they will add a basic one in the end for all players.

9:00 You can avoid most damage by using your dodge. Also your "Whirlwind" attack will zip through them. There are NO cast bars here and you have to learn skill animations to avoid damage.
@chavian02 жыл бұрын
To expand on this, the sword 3 actually gives you a 3/4 second evade window which works the same way as one of your dodges. Great for kiting mobs or a quick escape when paired with the 5 skill.

I think you once mentioned wanting to have a personal marker on the map - try alt + left click for that :). Really enjoing watching you discover Tyria on your own pace, it is a wonderful place full of stuff to discover and explore ! keep it up, hopefully you'll have just as much fun playing as i had when i started (and still do, max level)! Level to 80 goes surprisngly fast, especially if you're not hurrying it but enjoying the journey. I bought the full game after level 80 when i realised i still wanted more ;). The storytelling gets 10 times better after the core (1-80) story, but the personal story is pretty good too.

Levelling in GW2 is fairly quick, a casual player can reach level 80 within a months time, a hardcore gamer could reach it within a week; That said.... you then have different masteries and specializations you need to get points for either from specific locations across tyria or from achievements. And then you also have achievments which are quite extensive, and this is not even getting into the leveling for PVP and WvW.
@Daiska_Plays2 жыл бұрын
The amount of time played to get to 80? I play basically the same way as you do. Not rushing. But I also have done it dozens of times, so it's never confusing where to go. If I played only one character, which I never do, I'd guess 70-80 hours of playtime. Some people are going to say 1/4 of that amount of time, and they'd be right. But for someone new who isn't focused on that goal alone, I think my estimation is about right. You're doing so good! When you swapped weapons in combat, I cheered for you... The combat system really trips some people up at first. Actively dodging attacks and learning combos is next, but neither is terribly important during levelling unless you get yourself in over your head in a fight. People will often say 1-80 is the game tutorial, and they're right.
