according to tv tropes, you need to find the hidden treasure in each level to unlock the hidden 7th level and get the true ending. Also, a random enemy in the ship level is playable with a second controller

To save the girl you have to find every single secret item hidden in every level. After the tower, a castle will come down from the sky and there will be an extra boss and that’s where the girl is. :D

Have you heard of Heroine's Quest: The Herald of Ragnarok? It's a spiritual epilogue to the Quest for Glory series by by a group comprised of seira pc game fans. From what I seen, it's worth a playthrough.
