This is the second time that I have watched this series, and I always wonder why in this game the White Sox have such a feeble budget. I realise that they are definitely the second-tier team in Chicago in terms of fan interest, but it is still Chicago which is a huge market. I just checked, and the current White Sox payroll is 195 million, 7th in the league. I realise that this is OotP 19, which was 3/4 real-life seasons ago, but that's a huge, huge difference.

it's mostly just ownerships willingness to spend. in years past for the white sox, when the team was still terrible, they weren't willing to pay much for a team that wasn't going to win games

Your bullpen is amazing. I'm still not totally sold on the rotation. Paxton is a solid addition, that was a good trade and the SP prospect you have looks nice. A lot riding on Ruiz bouncing back this year with the home runs. I like the look of Maciel as a lead-off guy as much or more than Blaze. His OBP and steal rate look fantastic. Small sample size admittedly. I'd think about trading Happ now to get Maciel in at the top of the lineup. But it would depend on what I could get. Happ is a good player and it would screw with the outfield depth. But I'd at least explore trying to package Happ plus one of the mid-rotation starters for a cost-controlled young upgrade for the rotation. Or if there's still some money available take on a contract for an older guy, but with the new owner being a skinflint I'd be worried about the budget going down next season.
