He does play the really frustrated at being accused when he is the evil player a lot I've noticed , he is easy to read because in games like this when people suspect he is "evil" and he is , he shuts down completely, this is about the third time I've seen him in this position where he stops having fun. Usually when he isn't evil and isn't suspected he is one of the main voices. I love watching these videos, im so drawn in to their gameplans , I almost prefer to know who are evil as they play. Adam when he is evil will play the long con , he is very good at cheering a win for the good players to make it look like he is on their team , he runs the risk of letting it get to the point he can't stop it by playing the long game , but when he reveals it and he has won , then he is one of the best at it.

In my group, I am always the one who is assumed to be evil. The "proof" of my "obvious guilt" is that I can't hold a strait face whenever I am accused. Thing is... I crack up regardless of being bad or not, and more often than not I am perfectly innocent. I will say, it does get really frustrating when people decide that the one time they are right somehow justifies the previous dozen wrong guesses.

@@steve10 I kinda notices this in this video, he was very loud to begin with, having fun, jokeing around. the moment he got himself in hot water saying he contributed an axe, and got accused, he shut down, went silent and got sullen and quiet. super big tell. when they first started playing, someone jokingly accused him and he jokingly said somthing to the effect of "go on, test me, i dare you, lol" Later when he was accused, and was actually guilty, he got angry instead.

A Few Minor Rule Mistakes: - When using the Flamethrower, Jon was meant to privately look at Brooke’s role instead of revealing it to everyone. The only time their role is shown to everyone is if a player is torched with the Flamethrower (and hence eliminated). - Also, items such as the rope or flamethrower go to the captain of the mission when they are discovered. This captain is meant to keep it for the rest of the game. Other than that, this was a great session!

Fun Fact: This was Keith David’s First Movie Appearance (much like Alan Rickman; he was a Stage Actor before he got his big break), and if you go back and watch his scenes: he’s yelling almost all of his lines because he didn’t realize he didn’t need to project on a Soundstage as much as he would on a Theater Stage. You can even tell that certain scenes he’s intentionally whispering, because someone told him that he needed to lower his voice…

Adam and Laurie both outed themselves the moment they took a double take on their second blood samples (Laurie's was much more subtle, though). If both samples are the same, it doesn't matter which you discard. So, a double take is a really suspect indicator that they are different cards and you need to check which one you have to discard. They are so so so lucky no one noticed, despite the humans winning ultimately, anyway. I would fathom that it's a bit of a weakness of this game. I can feel for Laurie's frustration about feeling shut out of the game, though.
@SharienGaming
@SharienGaming Жыл бұрын
its an easy weakness to fix though - just dont discard any of the cards... its not like the excess human cards matter, you can just turn over all your cards at the end and if any on the chopper have at least one baddie card then baddies win
@sunsoar1822
@sunsoar1822 Жыл бұрын
i never saw laurie do this, but i spoted Adam do this at 33:10 during the first contamination stage. He lent back, looked, then lent forward, then had to lean back and check again, before putting a card back. At that moment i knew he was a thing. Had to be, because as you said, why double take if both cards are human.
@Jirodyne
@Jirodyne Жыл бұрын
@@SharienGaming Can't be done, cause they have a limit to the number of cards, and need to do it twice. Once at stage 2, and once at stage 3. If the thing person gets another thing card, and can't put it back, that effectively means 1 less thing forever for stage 3, cause they still have the second thing card. You give back all the human cards, and keep the thing cards, cause then in stage 3, there is a higher change of all people staying humans, cause the thing cards were most likely taken and kept in stage 2. But there is still a chance of a new infection from a thing card not already on the board.
@SharienGaming
@SharienGaming Жыл бұрын
@@Jirodyne true, my fix would introduce the possibility for only 1 or 2 things actually coming into the game (due to one person getting more than one card) as a cost for avoiding tells based on having to pick the right card to return essentially a tradeoff i suspect they tested both variants during design and chose this one, because the tell likely goes away with experience and they preferred the dynamic where at least 2 things are guaranteed every game and 3 are likely (with the number of players on display in the video) in general there are a lot of different methods for introducing additional traitors to these games with various tradeoffs (like for example the mingling mechanic from another thing game that looks really cool, but puts the original thing somewhat at the mercy of chance) its genuinely fascinating what game designers come up with - one of the big attractions of boardgaming =)

I think Adam actually does have a 'tell' when it comes to these games. Whenever he is a traitor or betrayer or whatever, he'll often try to hide his suspicious actions by either over-explaining things to muddy the waters or by making very obvious bad plays that he can call mistakes to hide behind if caught.

Agree. There's an old saying: Liars convince, Honest people convey. If you're honest and accused of doing wrong, you just convey the facts. "I'm not a Thing. I played a Knife." Liars try to convince. "I'm not a Thing. I played a Knife. I told you I was going to play a Knife. I mentioned I had a Knife two turns ago. And look there's a Knife in the pile, that's mine." I accidentally peeked at the first time so I knew that Rosie was a Thing from the start. Might just be my observation, but Laurie's tell is in his body language. When he's guilty as heck, he tends to look relaxed and calm, but when he is innocent he responds way more. Adam was the easiest pick of the three. The moment I noticed he was really trying to win, I knew he was the third Thing. Might be a bit of an act for the camera, but Adam doesn't generally act like someone who wants to share a victory. So when he's really happy about 'winning' in a semi-cooperative team game, you just know something is up.

I have a friend who is perpetually assumed to be on the evil team and as a result, he can't get anything going. When he's on the good team, no one listens to him. When he's on the evil team, no one listens to him. You just have to be a good sport about it. Another weird dynamic is that no one ever trusts the person who explains the game to new players, I guess the assumption being you are the most experienced with this game at the table so you're probably good at bluffing it and I have to be wary of you.

My biggest reservation with No Rolls Barred is that Laurie gets singled out as being "evil" or the "traitor" a significant amount of the time when he is there. Then when it comes to interaction, he just sits there not being able to engage. In this instance he was indeed one of them, but for a solid 45 to an hour, he was just sitting there, unable to engage outside of drawing/discarding cards. That to me, screams failure/fault in the game design. It might very well be a fun game, but, when player exclusion, despite the role, is a prominent thing... I'm not very fond of it.

I was so convinced Adam was going to be brought on the chopper in the end. That triumphant reaction was brilliant. I literally belly laughed with excitement, that was a fantastic watch.

wow, that is thrilling. Almost thinking that there be someone turned into a grosteque monster at end of it... like.. Adam would attack one of the humans, Rosie would turn to one while still saying she is not guilty, and Laurie just sit there like a sad but grosteque puppy.

This is one of the best social deduction games out there and one of my favourites. It is also, sadly, one that most of my friends tend to avoid or flat out reject when it's brought up because of how tense it can get. I am seriously glad that you didn't shy away from showing that side of the game here, since it proves that said tension can also bring so much fun and, probably, one of the most thrilling victories in all of gaming.
