This is the only Zone in Sonic 3 that has no parallax scrolling which I never entirely understood. It makes more sense for the 2nd act to not have it and I guess it could make some sense here. The parallax scrolling backgrounds work better with Sonic than any other platforms.

@7chaoemerald Yeah but Final Fortress didn't take too long for Sonic to destroy. I know there were some leftover ships but if you notice the Death Egg story actually takes up the majority of the classic 2D Sonic games that were on the Genesis. It was the one machine of Robotnik (I do the princess Toadstool thing with his name calling him Robotnik in older games and Eggman in newer ones much like Mario fans do with peach's name) *2bcont.*

This is another case of where Sonic's insta-shield comes in handy; you can use it on the mainframe and have a much easier time hitting it. I feel you on some of those warp rings, though. Most of the time I don't use them, because I can get through the stage quicker without them, and collect more rings to boot.

The miniboss's laser never goes to the edge of the screen. If you stand there you're always safe.

@7chaoemerald *Continued* to destroy and takes up the majority of the classic Genesis slash Megadrive games in terms of how long the plot to destory it was then it had to be a pretty powerful to withstand a lot. Which is why I think its something that really should return in a traditional Sonic game and why I really think it had to be powerful if it takes up a majority of the series when a lot of people agree that those were Sonic's golden age games.

phase 2 of miniboss: cheese-y way of defeating him, you can get on a platform, hit him from underneath, and then ride till he runs out of laser, then repeat.

@7chaoemerald I mean I find that to be a pretty epic tale since the Death Egg was the hardest thing for Sonic to destroy and try to keep out of the Sky I mean all Sonic could manage to do was make it crash land (the Japanese story of Sonic & Knuckles which now rules out the American one said so so the part in Sonic 3 played alone with it exploding doesn't really matter) and taking until the end of Sonic & Knuckles (or Sonic 3 & Knuckles) to destroy *2bcont.*

I always loved the music of the death egg so much! It's probably the last good level in the entire Sonic franchise, not including Sonic CD. The Miniboss is just pathetic. This level is just one of my favorites.

@dk64bestfan I think he knows where everything he put in his own orbiting Doomsday Device Space station is since he built it and I guess he probably has some kind of device for himself that deactivates the traps to let him pass freely. Plus I guess he had some time to deactivate the traps to let himself through in order to get to the area where he would be expecting Sonic. I mean you would probably guess if you had a hero who stopped your plans you'd expect him to come to your giant *2bcont.*

The easiest way to defeat the last boss here is to simply stay on the platforms. The lazer won't hit you and when the lazer stops you can simply jump, hit him again and stay on the platform to avoid the lazer once more.

*Continued* And besides the Egg Carrier just isn't as deadly and epic a weapon as the Death Egg was, I mean the Death Egg was more humongus, its also probably Eggman's biggest space weapon I mean I'd have to say its about half the size of the Ark. I don't know its just the Death Egg has always seemed to be the most powerful of Eggman's flying/orbiting inventions and I'd like to see him make another that appears in a new non-spinoff game.Cuz like I said the Egg carrier has appeared enogh already.

You actually CAN'T fight Mainframe (without infinite rings cheat, and/or Super Characters), without paying a heavy cost. That cost is usually: almost ALL the lives you gained, not having enough lives to take on Act 2; and Game-Over-ing in Act 2(Death Egg and Titanic Monarch)

The Death Egg is one thing I miss from classic Sonic that I wish would come back (along with Hyper Sonic and the Super Emeralds, and yes I know that there was another in Sonic the Fighters but that was still in the classic era, and I know one made an appearence in Sonic battle but I never played that game and besides I mean I want to see it in a traditional modern Sonic game not a fighting spin off) I mean I think we've had Eggman make enough Egg Carriers already *2bcont.*
