Tactical tips for future plays: Early Game it's not worth upgrading movement Tech as you are spending on ships that don't benefit from it eg: colony and mining ships so that 20 points is better invested elsewhere such as 2 colony ships early game. Also its of great benefit to get to ship size tech 3 as soon as possible and unlock cruisers as they will be your workhorse combat ships and can do the advanced explore upgrade which makes life a lot easier when exploring. Another tip is on the economic phase it is worth putting shorthand notes on what tech upgrade and ships you bought in the CP boxes as you can then track back through your history what purchases you made to tell the story of your empire growth and track back any errors that may have been made

At 9:03 you talked about moving your ships 2 movement due to your upgrade to movement 2 technology however this is not allowed for existing ships until they have returned to a Ship Yard and upgraded to the new technology by paying 1 CP per hull size of the ship. You can find the tracking sheet for technology on the back of the economic sheet you are using. There is a variant in the basic rules that says that anytime you have a tech upgrade this is automatically passed on to all existing ships so you could just use that if you wish. On the economic sheet down the bottom you will see ship maintenance upgrades - this is where you pay to upgrade ship technology during the turn. The losses section is where you track any casualties during the turn. This is also why you shouldn't carry over your spare CP until the new economic phase because you may have had to reduce the leftovers when paying for ship upgrades. BTW great to see you playing this on your channel as it's a fantastic game and I highly recommend getting all the expansions

Secondly. at 11:57 you build a second shipyard at your new colony however ship yards can only be built and upgraded one at a time per economic phase. So that Colony can only have a maximum of 1 ship yard put there this economic phase. On the next economic phase it can expand to a 2nd Ship Yard

Thank you....I thought it was just me as I cannot see any difference between the white & blue colors you keep mentioning so for future plays a different player color choice would be so much appreciated 😵‍💫

Thanks! Yeah - it's crystal clear in real life but the bright lights (against the rather black game board), really make it hard for the camera it seems...

@@realjplay But I always play blue, Markus, and so I like that you do too. You could always get a felt tipped pen and make it a deeper blue on the chits Somehow I think you will say an emphatic, "NO!" lol
