Derek is a genius for making the game from scratch. Brilliant concept, brilliant execution, brilliant everything. But being the creator he quite honestly sucks at it lol.

@p4trickb4tem4n6 жыл бұрын
He didn't make it from scratch. The first one was made using game maker and he had someone else do most of the programming for the second one.
@sumflee45413 жыл бұрын
@@p4trickb4tem4n he's still kind of the creator of this one, Andy Hull is kind of a co-creator, and this version is a remake of the game Maker version, there's hardly anything new besides some new areas.

Derek is indeed an intresting guy who's done a lot of great stuff, and we'll be doing more with him in the future on Rev3Games that delves into that. This video was about answering questions that I got in comments on my review and introducing people to the game by showing how Derek plays it. Remember that not everyone is as entwined in that scene as you are. Judging by response so far, a lot of people found this video useful. :) -Anthony

Great video, Anthony! Here I was, thinking about how cool would it be to have Derek on studio talking about the game (as we all know you're an indie game connoisseur, and you probably already knew Derek), and voila! Magic happened! :D I love how you're open to test different formats and ideas within your show! Keep the awesome work up!! PS - When will we see Jon reviewing one of your reviews?? Having the two of you back together, on camera, would rock! :)

I second that without a doubt. Spelunky is certainly successful enough to be something Sony would desire. I agree with WingedDrant, unless there is something extra special about the gameplay you just have to highlight while in discussion. You know either you or the dev is like "OH like this part it was so blah blah blah..." But they flow just fine as they are right now.

They have to port it to the PC, test it on a variety of hardware and fix bugs resulting from that. The company is small and not rich so they can't buy every PC in the world. Also, some games have more bugs than others, specifically games like Spelunky, The Binding of Isaac, Minecraft, Sims 3, etc. where there is a variety of different combinations of items and lots of different conditions. When you make a game on consoles you test it on one piece of hardware, in this case, xbox 360...

Actually if you observe the layout of the levels there is a lot of areas in the levels that have the layout identical , it is not 100% randomized, there is always certain challenges that give you certain ways to solve, so I think you should play the game before saying anything about it.
