Thanks Bill, great job! My meter (looks like the same model) came with a template for the cut-out. I guess I'm old school, I still like to solder my connections (after crimping) and I just used a jig saw to cut the hole. Looking forward to the maintenance video!

Good on ya, I'm definitely NOT a fan of the jig saw. Lol. I worked with a guy who understood wire connections better than anyone I had met to that point. He designs aircraft and vehicle harness at a very high level. I had a VERY long drawn out discussion with him about solder vs crimp connections. I don't think I've soldered much since then. He presented some very good data from in depth failure analysis. To each their own I suppose. I still solder when I don't have a good die for the crimper and I'm too cheap to buy one. Having the correct crimp die is also a part of that choice too.

Mr. Riverton I would love to what data leads you to that conclusion. The data I'm seeing indicates a pretty stark contraction in the Airgun world as a whole. I hope I'm wrong, and you are right! I do plan to continue, but I've just started a pretty demanding job that in the short term, takes a great deal of focus. I'll get back to it in time. I might also experiment with additional content as well. Thank you for your encouragement!

Hola Bill, greetings from Peru... you always have good tips for your viewers. You know that I'm a Rookie in the PCP World, and your videos are very useful for me. Even though I am not an intensive shooter , controlling the operation time of my GX CS2 was something I thought to care. I prepared a basic template (in excel) where I write down the timing, including my first tests. I put my compressor and their implements related all together in a in cooler box (to make it easier portable), including my template and a pen. Then, every time I use the GX I wrote down the start/end timing. On the other hand, I bought a Tuxing Filter ($100) in Amazon plus Molecular Sieve to reduce the watering effect in my PCP. Please let me know if you have some cotton filters, O-rings or other GX's useful spare parts available to sell. I came to the US for some weeks and I'm staying in Ft. Lauderdale. Therefore, could be easy for me to buy you some stuffs for my compressor. Thanks and have an excellent weekend.

Could you also use an inline power meter between the positive cable to count compressor time use thanks

Hello Donald, that could probably be rigged to work. It would need to be capable of measuring upwards of 35A @13.8VDC which is a fair bit of current. A passive current measurement, like a hall effect sensor, could do that easily but I'm pretty sure it would cost quite a bit more. If you sort it out, let me know! I'd love to see what you come up with.

Hello Ray, yup, they just kinda hang out wherever. It is a voltage regulator and it is not under any thermal stress so it is treated as part of the harness. Thanks for writing!

What does that little black connector with the metal flat piece with the hole in it connect to its the pigtail with the black wires on looks like it goes to the fan thanks

The only connector that comes close to your description is the cooling fan connector. Thanks for the question!

Hi. Got the same compressor and the AEA HP Max .357 and I only get 250 bar in the tank. Does anyone have an idea why I can't get to the 300 bar? The compressor keeps pumping, I don't hear any air escaping, but the gauges stay at 250 bar... Thanks in advance for the helpful tips. Best regards

It's nearly impossible to hear a leak with the unit running. A drop or two of dish soap in some water will tell the tale. Use liberally around EVERY joint between the pump outlet and the gun to find your leak.

All I have is dewalt batteries. Is there a way to change a single or double battery style from Makita style battery to Dewalt without buying a converter piece?

There is a way to run an L2, the Makita powered unit on DeWalt batteries, but you will not be able to run that unit on 12VDC vehicle input, which was the point of the "Hybrid" video. Here is an adapter that will allow you to do that: amzn.to/3crBh6W

Thinking more about your question, you could probably get a GX L2, remove the Makita Battery adapter, and replace it with the dewalt part I used on the Hybrid build. That should work fine.

Wouldn't the 20 volt dewalt be to much for a 18 volt makita motor. I heard you say it was the fastest deadhead test and would not recommend long term use with 20 dewalt batteries.

@@bamoore65 perhaps I have confused you. On a motor wound for 12vdc (the CS2), 20VDC is WAY too high. The L2 is designed to run at 18VDC, that is much closer to 20VDC and should be fine.

I seen you convert a GX CS2 into a Dewalt battery compressor. I'm no handyman. How has the compressor handle the power swap over a long period of use. And do you sell them (dewalt style conversion)?

Hello Bruce, thank you for your comment. Any chance you could leave one over on the Hybrid video? So folks can see the comment relative to the actual video? If not, no worries. If you watch that video you will see I do not have long term data as I only just built and shared it. I'm hopeful that a few brave souls will join me and we can collect data on numerous units. That should yield much more useful information than my single data point. I am considering selling a complete kit (parts used in the video prewired, no compressor), where all you would need to do is drill a few holes and strip a few wires. it would come with all crimping done and just a few wires inserted in toolless connectors. Would that interest you?

Interesting question. These units never make it back to the seller on Amazon, so probably not? To me, knowing how many hours are on my machine is to valuable to pass up. You could just keep a log book next to the machine, but that takes discipline.

@@TargetForge I thought about that, using a clicker to keep track of refills, but I agree.. The manufacturer doesn't get them back usually? So are you saying Amazon just normally ships you out a new unit? I Actually decided to take a chance on this compressor based on yours and another man's reviews. I had a Coltri MCH6 that was pure awesome, and now regret selling it.. Maybe this can get me by for a year or so until I can get another higher end compressor to fill my tanks.. Entirely to much solder.. on top of crimping? I know having pride and making your work hold up is key. But there becomes a point when being wasteful becomes a disrespect to those who don't have money to keep purchasing 😊 consumables. To those who don't know how to do these things and are learning from these type of videos, you don't even have to tin the copper if your using a crimping aide. This is about as wasteful as when d.i.y.ers put glue on both sides of boards being clamped against each other... about as useless as titts on a boar 🐗 hog. Sorry not a rant to you personally. Just a note to beginners.

Perhaps you need to go watch this again? I advocated for EITHER solder, OR crimping, NOT both. My solder technique is taken straight out of the PACE solder training manual. Your advice is unfounded. I stand firmly by the techniques I show. Not tinning the wire first is NOT good practise, not my opinion, what those that have developed professional soldering training materials say on the matter.
