By adding a check valve to the outlet side of your molecular sieve filter you can open the valve on your tank before starting the compressor, and not have to worry about when to open the valve. When the compressor and tank reach the same pressure the check valve will open allowing air to flow into the tank. When done filling the tank just bleed the line at the tank's valve and compressor.

the non-return valve on the bottle is perfect. No more worries, personally I haven't added anything. I use the original filter, a 20l can, 10l demineralized water and 10/ cooling liquid. I never exceed 10 minutes and 55 degrees. I leave the humidity filter always vertical. Never had a problem with humidity, it remains well at the base of the filter and is never reassembled. It is also good to let the air out of its bottle after have put it upside down to bring down any humidity in the bottle and thus expel it. And if necessary a filter from the bottle to the carbine. I think that the additions do not bring anything but that is only my opinion .Thank you for your feedback and explanations.Peace

@@kricketkricket6737 I don't know the exact amount of oil it takes, but it needs to reach the red dot in the viewing window. I would just fill it until it reaches the dot and consistently make sure that it stays in that area before using it. Thanks for watching!

These are SOOooo good and pretty much the go to compressor for air rifles. I LOVE the air rifle sport. It's fun, and keeps me out of trouble, and the Yong Heng has treated me right flawlessly for three years so far because I change the oil every other fill up because it's CHEAP, and I use ice cold distilled water. Distilled means NO minerals to clog it up after many times of use.

I have a dehumidifier in my basement. I use the condensate water from it, to cool the head. Also the dehumidifier keeps the humidity to 40%, so there’s less water in the air to start with. Works for me !

Great info! After When you were talking about blowing out thw water in the cooling loop, an idea occurred to me. With most of us having hard water, it may be a good idea to flush out the loop out with distilled water at the end and then blowing out with compressed air. Even go so far as flushing with vinegar periodically to help with mineral build up. I'm also planning on removing the fan cover permanently since it's only me that runs the unit, and I never leave it running unsupervised. Also, planning to bore a number of large holes throughout the motor cover to help with venting.

Great video Mark. The main cause of heat in the Yong Heng is the larger, lower cylinder. You have that covered with your high volume fan in the rear. People go crazy cooling the top and the lines, which are already water cooled. Like you, I use ice, which is a must. In the last year, prices have come down on the larger compressors. I recently saw the Hill, from the UK selling for under a thousand US dollars. I,however, am staying with my YH. It does the job at a bargain price.

Some friends and I have the same idea about the yong heng's cost, we each have young hengs, we don't need the very expensive compressor, nor the 400 dls filters, there are many options for filters now at a very reasonable price. Thank you very much for sharings

I modofied the crank shaft on mine to fit a bearing and built a chiller for it aswell. I also put a manometer an solid state relay for an auto shut off

I have the same set up, and I cut a little opening out of a one gallon milk jug Leaving the handle. and I fiill the milk jug up 3/4 of the way full and freeze them. So I have several of them in my freezer and then I put it in the 5 gallon bucket of water, I can fill a full tank an that water stays very cold and then when I'm done I just fill it back up an put it back in the freezer for next time. Works great

Yes, that's a great idea. I have an ice machine that makes it easier for me and gives me a good excuse to clean it out when I use the YH. Ice is definitely the key!

I bought the yong heng knock off for 185.00 and I just past the 6 year mark with it, but it is now ready for a rebuild its slowed way down on the fill time just this year. I'm fixing to buy another one if I can get a true yong heng compressor

I cooled mine with a medium size drum and let the warm water drop on the ground not back in the drum and I put the tank in a thick pvc pipe in the barrel to keep it cool so not to hot fill and the pipe to help in case of explosion. Gx pumps are the best I found .

Put a one-way valve (BestFittings sell one) between tank and compressor, when pressures are equal air will then pass into tank without needing to guess when they're equalised. I added cooling fins to the transfer pipes on the compressor and use a fan to cool those.

I recently bought a really great one way valve from Air Tanks Plus (airtanksplus.com/product/quick-connect_in-line_one-way_check-valve_w_bleed_valve/) that has a bleed valve and can be used on any tank I fill. It's a very handy addition. I was assuming that most won't have something like this.

Part number on the one way valve? Link? I see your car tags hinds & Madison. I’m in hinds my kids are in Madison. Great video. I love my compressor but mine doesn’t have the auto stop. Got mine several years ago and mine runs great. I run a fan on top to help cool the cylinder also. I run antifreeze in my bucket at room temperature never had a problem. I use royal purple oil in mine.

Just ordered mine, I'm going to see if I can drill and tap the cylinder and head on the opposite side of the existing water ports, and install 2 more fittings. This when coupled with the higher flowing water pump should effectively almost double water flow and cooling 😎

Yes, thanks for asking. I use the 827. I bought it from a dealer on EBay. The amount for 1 oil change was $18.95, so I figured not bad for a years worth of great oil.

Hey my high compression piston seems to be going to high and locking up because it cannot return the stroke. I'm fairly used to piston strokes from racing motorcycles, 2 strokes, but this thing has ne really confused and hard to find good customer support. I'm getting ready to replace the whole unit or just whole top end but I'm really interested in figuring this out. Also, the top high compression piston is tight!

Hello Mark. I want to use a compressor to transfer Helium from large baloons back in to a cylinder/tank which has 200bar. I´m looking for a cheap transportable compressor which has like a small opening where is sucks the air which it is compressing so that i can add a tube and connect it with the baloon. So it musn´t have big slots and holes regarding this purpose. Can you please recommend me a Compressor ? Can you please tell me how the Yong Heng - Compressor absorbs the air , does it have a small hole ? PLeas help me , thx !!

Wow. That's an interesting question. I wish I could help you with it, but I can't recommend something that is outside the intended purpose of the unit. The YH has a small air intake, but I have no idea how you could attach a hose to it. I'm sure it could ultimately be done, but that doesn't mean that it's a good idea. Sorry, I'm not much help with this one.

I think they do to some extent, but the filters are a necessary evil. I am not aware if anyone has quantitated the difference, but it would certainly have to add some. Thanks for asking. Maybe someone who knows more will chime in.

I think the only "essentials" besides a bucket with ice water are a good air filter like the "gold" filter and great oil. Everything else are very good extras (like the Lasko fan and a temperature gun) to monitor temperature and enhance cooling. Great oil keeps the YH running well, and a great filter keeps water out of your tank- both incredibly important.

I sold my beautiful Honda gas powered Coltri MCH6 when I moved, and now after hand pumping for only 3 shots for my big bores or a mag from my FX impact, I'm seriously regretting it. I shoot a lot.. I can't justify the $3500 for a better compressor right now. I do have a 4500 psi carbon fiber tank, but I'm between filling it with a Yong Heng, or filling my rifle with the GX CS2. both have their advantages.. I don't want to spend around $1500 for a mid range compressor that's not much better than one of these as far as I can tell, because later it will be less justified if I decided to buy a higher end compressor.. I know you now own both. Any advice on which way I should go to get me by for a year or so? Thanks..

Wow. You’re asking a really tough but very practical question. I’m having to think hard about this. Okay, looking on Amazon the GX CS2 is listed for $305.99 but there is a $25 coupon available making it $280.99- great price. You can also add $33.99 for a 3 year protection plan or $44.99 for 4 years. No brainer to go with the 4 year warranty. Since you’re only looking at needing something for a year or so, I would totally go with the GX CS2 at that price point and the fact that you would get a free replacement for up to 4 years. Seems an extremely safe bet to me. You’re good for 4 years of saving for a high end compressor if you want. Love my YH, but in this situation I would go with the GX CS2.

Why do you not want the oil to be above where you have yours? Mine is a closer to the top of the window, when I look in the tank it looks so empty. Since you have had success with that fill level I am going to roll with your assessment, just curious what happens if you go much higher than that.

We’ll, I was doing my best to adhere to the manufacturer’s recommendations of having the oil no higher than the top of the circle. That’s what is recommended in the included manual. I honestly don’t know what the consequences are for higher filling. I bet someone has addressed this question in some of the forums but I never thought I needed to fill it any higher than recommended. Thanks for asking.

as an older guy this is one of those "fit for purpose" things take a little time and it will be fine try to run it as a commercial one and you will be disappointed! I've had one 3 years now and have a similar rig to you! horses for courses and agree I'd rather another rifle than a 4k compressor that does the same work! at 50 I can take a little time to save a LOT of money :) have a great day subbed thanks for sharing :)

Tried mine out last night. filled a 7 litre bottle form 100 bar to 250 bar in about half hour of run time stopping it to cool when it reached just below 50 deg c, ice helps in the water for sure, i used a 30 litre water container too, will fill my other bottle today with plastic pop bottles filled with frozen water in the water too to cool it more. Thanks. The molecular sieve removes the water vapor/humidity from the air to help remove as much of the water as possible. It doesn't remove oil itself. Personally, I don't really smell any oily smell when I run my machine. That could be a factor of the particular oil. I show a graphic text of the oil I use for spelling purposes- Mobil Rarus oil. I tried Royal Purple first, but I believe Mobil Rarus is much better. It's specifically made for high compression engines. Thanks

I have done everything that you have done, except for the second fan on the top blowing on the head. I never run mine more than 10 minutes, or past 60c temp, whichever comes first. I run Royal Purple oil in it. I have had 4 or 5 Yong Hengs in less than 2 years. I fill a 9L SCBA bottle from 220bar to 300bar most of the time. I have never gotten more than 10 running hours our of one. Yes, I did buy another one this week. Granted, it's doing the hardest part of the work all the time. But 10 hours? It should be better than that. Question: In the 3 years that you have had your compressor, how many working hours do you have one it?

That's interesting. I'm a little surprised, but I wonder if it all has to do with the fact that you're primarily filling a 9L tank. It would be interesting to see if the lifetime changes if you only fill a 6.8L (45 minute) tank instead. That's what I do, and I'm positive I have a lot more than 10 hours usage. I'll have to go back to my log book and add up the times to see what my total time is at this point. I would agree with you that you should be getting more than 10 hours. With this next one, you may also want to try Mobile Rarus oil to see if it makes a difference. It would be a good experiment.

@@jmarkreed Yes, I would be interested in seeing how many hours you have on your compressor. If oil is the problem, I have no problem buying whatever oil is best. I have tried a few different oils in the past. Royal Purple is a good oil. I have ran it in my supercharged car and transmissions, rear ends, etc. Atone point, the compressor supplier said to run it. I will look into the oil you are using.

I think that's a fantastic question and one I have not thought about. Some of the additions would be appropriate for any high pressure compressor, not jus the YH, including the copper and gold water filters, so I won't count those. I upgraded the water pump for $19, the Lasko blower for $66, the high speed computer fan for $38, and the anti vibration springs for $34. That comes to $157. Overall a lot better than a high end compressor, but I don't know if any of this will ultimately make any difference in longevity or not. Only time will tell. Thanks for asking and for watching!

No, definitely not. I just do incremental fills myself. I don't let the tank get too low. I'll usually get it down to around 200 bar before filling it back to 290 bar. I don't want to make the machine work too hard or too long.

Well...my YH is the type that cuts off automatically at a certain pressure, and although I tell it to cut off at 300 bar, it wants to cut off at 290, so I let it. No sense in making a big fuss over 10 bar. It's happy and I'm happy.@@recklessjunkie

Thanks for asking. The microbore fill whip was purchased from airtanksforsale.com- great quality. This particular one has two female ends. The moisture oil separator was purchased on Amazon at the following link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077SX5G9V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It shows that it is currently unavailable and was listed as a Toauto 30Mpa High Pressure Air Filter External Water Oil Separator Filtration for Air Compressor Air Pump. OK, I do have a question for you Sir while I am waiting for my pump to get here. It concerns the cooling liquid you use. Just as you said, everyone has there own opinion of what to put in and the first thing I read was plain ol tap water. Where I live there is a lot of calcium in the city water. Does that change the equation? I have read to use straight anti-freeze, then anti freeze mixed with water,. (No ratio yet for the mix). Then use only distilled water, then mix antifreeze with only distilled water/ or only tap water....You have 3 years of running your compressor. I trust your answer for that very reason! I do know yet just for sure what ever coolant I end up with, only that it will be chilled with ice before it goes inside the pump. That much I do know.. Just need your feedback as to what you personally use. As always Thank You Sir for your time and also our willingness to share your knowledge!!!

One thing I know for sure is not to use distilled water. That has been shown to be a problem. Multiple posts in the forums address this. You would also not use antifreeze alone. I believe those who use antifreeze keep a reservoir of water that is used over and over. I don’t do that, but I don’t have a problem with that either. I use tap water and ice which are replaced with each use. That’s just how I do it. I believe a lot of others do that too. I don’t know what to tell you about the calcium. I’m not sure that’s a problem or not. Thanks for asking and for watching!

I wonder what a real thermometer would have read at the hot end, and not one of these IR guessing devices. They don't work well at all on blank metals. ;)

Thanks. I actually use a good Fluke 62 Max Industrial Infrared Thermometer gun as well as the internal temperature gauge (digital) and they essentially read the same when I'm measuring the hottest part of the metal. I'm sure neither are an exact measurement, but I bet they are pretty good reflection of the actual high temps. Obviously, the main point is to keep it as low as possible and never let it get out of control. Thanks for watching!

And they all have problems focussing on a small piece. How did you use the internal thermometer? By theory the air must be A LOT hotter than this. I'll try my own measurements soon! ;)

A little late to this video but I wish I wouldve never bought one of these junk let alone 2 ,the first one completely fell apart and has to be rebuilt constantly and the second one out of the box wont air past 3000psi ,I suggests not buying this crap.
