Yes! It makes sense that 11 should feel like Gen13. I think Jim Lee was a big influence on J. Scott Campbell and I wouldn't be surprised if Campbell referenced this cover when he was doing his pencils. Good catch! That Magneto cover is an icon, good choice. Thanks for the comment!!!

Great video! My favorite of all is X-Men #5. I know there isn't any blood on Wolverine but the energy of that cover is amazing! They are fighting so fiercely that it seems they are about to burst out of the cover. Great choices though.

I bought #1 (all 4 covers) through #8 back when they first came out. I don't remember why I stopped at #8, but thirty years later I absolutely HAD to get #9 and #11. Great call on #9 for top of the heap, but #11 is an A.

Hot take 🔥: Jim Lee does not even make my top 13 comic book artists. His anatomical design is so “by the numbers” as every character is a bodybuilder. I hate his portrayal of Magneto as he puts Schwarzenegger to shame. I prefer artists that contrast character body types. I would place the following artists ahead of Lee… Neal Adams John Byrne John Buscema George Perez Michael Golden John Romita Todd Mcfarlane Jim Starlin Barry Windsor Smith Paul Smith Alex Ross Alan Davis Paul Gulacy Jose Louis Garcia Lopez

Lee is one of those artists whose style has changed dramatically over the years. I much prefer his earlier work like in Punisher War Journal. He still had a flair of style in his Uncanny X-Men run too. It was hard for me to get excited about his later DC work (Batman Hush and Superman). Most of the artists you list I would agree with. I would put Art Adams, S.Platt, Liefeld, and Texeira (and others) on my list above Lee. Thanks for the comment!!!

@ Thank you for your videos. Your channel deserves far more popularity as you are a true comic book fan and your lists are awesome! We have nearly identical tastes in comics and creators. However, Liefeld would never make any list except the most overrated artist. 😂 I also forgot about including Brian Bolland to my list.
