Civ V is the series that got me watching Quill's stuff, and he's why I watch let's plays in general. It's been a long time and I've enjoyed quite a lot of the content over the years. I'm glad to see Civ V again!

Yessss!!!! Ty for a new Civ 5 game, still my favorite game to play and watch. I hope you don't mind if I give you a few tips since it's been a while for you. 1. Don't bother with barb camps the first 30 turns or so. It's better to spend that time finding goody huts and meeting CS first for extra gold. 2. Always look to steal workers early from BOTH CS and AI, Do NOT waste hammers building them. Especially try to grab unescorted settlers (like the one England parked on your border) and I would hang out near Babylon and try to snipe their great scientist before they plant it. That would slow them down massively. Super early wars against the AI are beneficial to the player because the AI can't really do anything yet, and there are no long term diplomatic repercussions as long as you don't conquer a city. There also is no penalty for warring CS once, 3, When taking liberty policy tree, it's best to take the production boost policy first and then the free settler + 50% faster settler training. It really speeds your building and development early and again you can get workers for free elsewhere. 4. when trying to conquer enemy cities, you will need multiple ranged units plus a few melee something like 5 comp bows and 2-3 warriors should do the trick against akkad. Thanks again for CIV 5 I hope it doesn't sound like I am nit picking , I just have a lot of experience with this game.

I've just recently hit 5000 hours put into Civ 5, but still never played Civ 6, mainly because I've never had a computer which would run it properly. I found your channel way back in the day when I was looking for Civ 4 LPs, and I've watched all of your Civ 4 and 5 series, plus Beyond Earth. It's great to see you go back to these older games.

@@markmorris7123 I've found that a lot of the updated grand strategy games (civ, europa universalis, Victoria, crusader kings, etc) have become "more accessible" with each new release. I don't like accessible games

My dad started me on Germany in civ 3. The first civ game I watched on KZbin was Quill’s Rome play through on civ 4. I really like the civilization franchise, and quill in particular is really good at showing off the good parts of each game. Thanks man!

As my experience, I normally pick honor as first for Bismark(Ger), as same as montezaca (Inca), Bourdica(Ireland???) since they tend to kill as many barbarians as possible. Honor give you bonus vs bar and extra culture when you kill one

Civ 5 is my personal favorite and I have way too many hours on it over the past few years, but I enjoy that civ 4-5-6 all can be fun in there own unique ways

Love the civ5 playthroughs, pretty sure thats what I started watching you on :D have you tried the mod vox populi>? It is quite insane and changes the game basically in everyway imaginable :D Plus, makes the AIs actually impossible to beat on the higher difficulities :D

Is there something else going on with the main menu screen or is that a component of newer versions of EUI? The menu background is usually static instead of shifting through the world wonder artworks.

From what I know and read is 5hat Egypt didn't have slaves until the new era, however when they were at war the captured military forces were put into servitude and not all were treated poorly. Basically refugees joined egypt and the ones that didn't were either imprisoned and worked for there freedom. Kind of like a prison sentence reduction. I'm not really sure this is what I read or concluded. Plus they had a reward system for loyalty, like a job promotion system. Sounds like what the early 20th century use to be like. Still need to do research.

I keep going back to civ 5. I like when I conquer new cities that I can puppet them and my builders Will automatically improve tiles and build roads. That's the tedious part of the game for me in civ 6

Man, my last game of Civ 5 before the release of 6, I was three turns of winning an Immortal game. Now I have to play on Normal because I've lost all that 5 skill. :( Such a good game, and what got me addicted to (not real time) strategy games.

I kinda miss the more detailed/vibrant backgrounds in the leader screens. Civ 6's are fine, but I like seeing the leaders looking like part of their setting. Adds as much 'immersion' as a 4x game can have.

i have tried to go back and play this at least 10 times in this last year and every time i do it makes me want to go play civ 6 everytime the civs the tech shuffler the moding the map customization its just a better in civ 6 i put 3k hours into civ 5 and i may never play it again in favour of civ 6

@@userac-xpg have to hard disagree civ 5 has nothing going for it over civ 6 anymore the victory conditions are cooler the tech tree is better districts are better wonders actually being on the map is way cooler and actually requires you to plan a city better not to mention you can basically settle as many cities as you want and not be a net negative with 5 cities civ 5 is just a worse game at this point i mean can you genuinely name 1 thing civ 5 does better at this point?

How is it a debate that Egypt had slavery? It is a historical fact that Egypt had slaves, although the Egyptian word doesn't align to the word 'slave' in a one-to-one way, and used them. It may not have been slavery in the same vein as 'modern' perception of slavery, but it did exist. It is debatable whether they used slaves to build the Great Pyramids or not, or rather what kinds of slave labor they used, but even that shouldn't be contentious...

Oh boy... this is both VERY nostalgic and equally annoying. That... ringing/dinging every time it selects a unit for you. BURNED into my brain. Though... maybe this is just me... I much prefer the graphics of 6? Specifically the maps. Idk, the map is too detailed and a bit too... messy? I don't know how to explain it. Very nostalgic, again, but I think I do just prefer Civ 6's map a bit more.

I was screaming at my screen for you to go with jungle is culture pantheon. Going liberty culture is the most important thing to focus as you don't produce the same as you would tradition. What you went is in my opinion never worth it as it only effects your capital and it's yield is not enough. Only useful early game though if you aren't going for a religion you can say the pantheon will get overriden so I guess it's ok. I never really pick it. You do you though love the playthrough.
