Best game I ever had in Kenshi had me quickly lose my left arm. I acted as a one-arm bandit from that point, stealing anything and everything of good value to purchase clothes, food, and ranged weapons. I eventually replaced my arm and amputated my legs with mechanical upgrade that had me move at insane speeds throughout Kenshi. Only time it sucked is when I went through Holy Nation territory I had to take off all my prosthetics and be carried by my loyal friend so we wouldn't be attacked as they considered me a hated robot with all my augments. Thanks for resparking my interest in the game. Redownloading it now.

I've recently found it's very easy to just run out of Rebirth thanks to food. Surprisingly there's quite a bit of food just laying around, all you have to do is pick it up and eat when no one is looking (usually sneaking out of your cage at night). Just grab a bunch of bread/foodcubes/etc. Let your man eat and overtime he'll be perfectly fine nutritionally. That's when you sneak out towards a gate, the guards will catch you doing so, but at that point you're able to sprint full speed. While the guards are fine nutritionally, their armor slows their Athletics, while your character, assumingly, isnt wearing any sort of thing. All they can do is watch you sprint off into the distance.

He had no idea how long he'd been there. He didn't really think it mattered. His pride as a warrior, the one thing his race held in the highest regard, had been broken utterly. Mindlessly, he dug and carved and carried for his captors, who hadn't needed so much as to threaten anything to get him to comply. Then he was given to the Overseer of Rebirth. Then, then he met Sand. He hadn't thought much of him at first, a willful fool at best. A spy placed to ensure loyalties kept at worst. Then Sand tried to escape on his own. He failed, of course. With at least five guards per gate, to say nothing about patrols, he really had no chance. He was punished, and everyone lost some rations, nothing out of the ordinary. But then he tried again. It was a month or so later, true, but he tried again. At first, Park was incredibly confused. This human was beaten badly, had lower rations than the rest almost constantly, and yet he still tried to escape not even a month later? Was he trying to kill them all by ration-induced starvation? It was only later, when he was mining on a shift with Ribs, one of the more veteran workers, when he finally found out why. "Saw how you were lookin' at Sand." She whispered next to him, picking away at a copper vein. "Yeah," Park grunted quietly, "What's his problem?" Ribs shrugged. "Dunno, they brought him here bout twenty years ago, sneaky bastard hasn't given up on gettin' out." Park risked a glance at Ribs, raising an eye ridge as if to say 'Really?' Again, Ribs shrugged. "Hey, the guy steals some food from the guards every now and again and gives a good portion to the rest of us, so we try not to knock him too badly-" One of the nearby guards smacks the hilt of his weapon on the stone nearby. "No talking, beasts." Thus left to his own thoughts, Park tried to reason it through. He couldn't, and it wouldn't leave his mind. Days, months, perhaps a year later, it happened again. And again. Like clockwork, to the point where he could learn to tell which month it was by another of Sand's escape attempts. Then, almost suddenly, they stopped. For one reason or another, Sand stopped his attempts. For a while, Park decided that nothing was coming of it. Of course, that was before he was woken in the middle of the night. "Hey, Park, get up!" Came a harsh whisper, startling him from rest. He then heard a small click as the shackles on his legs came off. Dumbstruck, Park could simply ask quietly, "How did you-" Sand shushed him, before untying him. Sand then whispered, "Come on, this time we'll make it! I know it!" Park looked at him, then decided to follow. He... Was not stealthy, to say the least. He could barely see Sand move in the dark, but they managed to get to the gate, where Ribs met them. Then came what he regretted dearly. the mad dash out from the fully manned gate. Needless to say, they were thoroughly beaten. But, by some miracle, they were left laying on the crags where they fell. Ribs... Didn't get back up, and Sand was too far ahead to know what happened at first, but he had been bandaged and shackled. Without guard. He took his chance and ran, the last cinders of his warrior spirit reigniting, and went to find Sand... (/\) So, how do you think of this little lore bit? I would've written more, but this was getting to be a bit much for a comment, eh? Sincerely, Hunter Redflame.

Everyone's whinging about Rycon setting his run speed to Jog, but even with 16 athletics Sand wouldn't have had a hope in hell to out run the Holy Sentinels which have a base athletics level of 40. His run speed is like 17 to maybe 18 MPH, theirs is 20 to 21 MPH. Rycon setting Sand to Jog doesn't really matter.

@darthplagueis133 жыл бұрын
Kind of a late response, but actually it really would have helped. Since there are no running attacks in this game, the AI tries to get infront or next to you and line up a hit in order to catch you. You can actually dodge those attacks quite well and even end up getting some distance if you aren't quite as fast as them, so a small difference in speed of like 3-4 can still be compensated for. But with too big of a speed difference, it becomes much harder to escape.
@Eralen003 жыл бұрын
@@darthplagueis13 yep, sprint mode still would have given him just a little more distance/speed to juke the attack, even if his run speed isn't higher than the guards

that beginning chase was rough cause you had Sand on "jog" instead of "sprint" oof. Also when you're juking, it's best to juke towards the swing rather than away as swords have a good reach. Also enemies have to move in front of you to attack as Kenshi doesn't have a run a slash sort of mechanic, so it's also good to run in reverse at times as well. It's a little tricky to get a hang of but it's possible.
@Quilly_DM6 жыл бұрын
@UCf9s2nMNW1Fe1zL2EKY2NMg But also check his running indicator, it's set to jog as well. So either way he was still going slower than he could've been. Not saying he would've gotten away, but would've certainly made it easier.
@Quilly_DM6 жыл бұрын
@Sebastian Tully Slashing does exist but what I was referring to is a running attack. There isn't a system in game where a character can chase you and hit you from behind while running. They have to intercept you from the front, stop, then attack. That's why it's pretty easy to dodge a cheese NPCs

Ahh, awesome to see you playing Kenshi, you are one of my favorite youtube gamers. And I just so happen to have been experimenting with what I call "asshole slave" training methods. Its a good way to train your character as you will basically be kept alive and fed by your enslavers. What I do is a get them captured, if they are low on laboring and/or strength I let them work for a while while carrying the heavy shackles like you did. Then when I am satisfied I also started sneaking to train that. The guards might get angry, but if you get beaten up, then next time you are send of to work you can just go to a camp bed and sleep to heal up quickly, they might yell at you but mostly leave you alone. You can sleep until night, they will not get angry if you don't return to your cage so use the opportunity to sneak around and steal stuff like food to build a stash and keep you healthy. Oh, and if you stay in a cage near a barrel you can put your shackles and other stuff in there and steal them back for thievery training (or just drop them on the ground if its stolen items). If you feel like being a real dick you can head over to one of the mounted crossbows for some turret training and start shooting your guards, do it right and they don't really get that its you, they will just run around like headless chickens and heal themselves. Next step is starting to knock out your fellow slaves while working to train assassinations (just quickly sneak, knock them out, stop sneaking and back to work), your guards are likely to skilled for you yet, after a bunch of knockouts I start knocking out my guards and removing their stuff (you could do that, hide it, and justify it as building a stash.). A hilarious thing is to then put your slave clothes on them, they will never pick up the stuff you took of and will remain in slaves clothes. If you put shackles on them and put them in a cage they will become slaves too if you want to be a dick to them (have been thinking of locking up a whole mine just to see what happens). Did that with some of the slavers, but the game tends to get really confused and start treating them as both slaves and guards and they will do the slave routine while still attacking you if you escape. Actually, I wonder if I could kidnap the phoenix, give him slave stuff and stuff him in a cage and see if he will become a slave to holy nation then. Once I have replaced all the guards armor and weapons with nothing I start to fight them for toughness and martial arts training. If you use stolen weapons then of course it also trains that. Why now? If you do what I did then you have no weapons and armor, you won't train your fighting skill much if you get knocked out in one blow, so disarming them works well. You can keep doing that until you are satisfied with your progress and escape. Basically, being an asshole slave I have found I can train all stats, and most combat and thievery skills. Only skills I haven't found a way for is mostly crafting skills.

The editing in this video is brilliant. You really captured the feel of this game in the first 10 minutes. I am hooked, and looking forward to this series. Kenshi is such a unique gem.

Man, I gotta say, you are a criminally underrated channel. If only someone would signal boost you. Can’t wait for the day you go viral, man. Then I can tell everyone “Ha, I knew about Rycon *before* it was cool.”

Damn Rycon. This is cinematic like whoa. So good my man. Thank you.

"What is Kenshi you might ask? It's a little bit like a Real Time Strategy mode blended in with a kind of Adventure/RPG styl-" "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!"

I don't know if it's intentional, but I'm getting a really heavy Mad Max vibe from the opening of this, and I absolutely love it. If it's not intentional, then damn good on you for making such an amazing introduction, the writing of it is phenomenal, as is the delivery. If it IS intentional, then I again commend you for adapting such inspiration to your own uses, and doing so in a frankly flawless manner. All in all, you've made me comment and subscribe in less than 5 minutes.

Great mix of narrative and gameplay. This Roleplay makes it so much more enjoyable then to watch through the whole set of a standard gameplay. Quite an eye opener :-)

It's been over 4 years since I've watched this series that helped spur me to buy and play Kenshi, and now that the Kenshi bug has gotten to me again, here I am back for a rewatch.

You don't have to run faster than the Holy Paladins, you just have to run faster than your fellow slaves...

Yay! I'm literally in a cafe commenting before I've even watched this because I'm that excited that you're taking on Kenshi!

Finally got to watch, and wow, you sure didn’t pick an easy starting point. However, I have no doubt that Sand will prove as resourceful as all your other characters, and I’m really looking forward to seeing this world through his eyes. And I’m glad he’s not alone; I imagine having another with him, and a Shek at that, will drastically improve his chances at survival. And, selfishly, I’m glad to have another series of yours to follow!

Oh thank goodness. I've wanted to play this game but have not found the time. I've tried to watch people play it, but they failed to capture my interest for long. Finally my favourite You-Tuber has started a series on this awesome game. This game is perfect for your unparralled talent. All the thumbs up!

I finally remembered why this first episode feels so familiar to me! That intro, with the way your voice sounds all gravely and that accent, it sounds like were entering the mad max Fury road universe

Lmao, I love that you when attempting to ensure you're running full speed, you set it to 2/3rds speed, jogging, instead of full sprint.

For your big escape at 28ish minutes, you can click the block button and have a ton of extra defense as your running away... also if you click passive, i believe it makes them target other people first, so i believe they would target the other two. Either way, sand just wasnt fast enough... Poor starving little guy
