the jacket looks so cute!! I feel like you don't seem to realise how genuinely talented and hard working you are like. you designed drafted and made a whole ass jacket all by yourself. that's pretty incredible

I did a costume design program back in the early 2000's. Your late nights gave me some nostalgia, I remember late nights at the studio. The security guard used to come check and kick people out at midnight, so we would turn the lights off and hide (he wouldn't come in unless he saw the lights on). After we saw he left, we'd turn the lights back on and sew all night. Anyhow, I enjoyed watching you build this jacket, it's very cute!

This jacket and video were so insanely creative!!! I wanted to ask, when you sew down the patches (ex. the leaf/stem cutouts), did you hem them in any way to reduce fraying at the edges over time? I've seen people use this style of sewing on tiktok recently too and I think it's so cool, I've just always wondered if there's anything being done behind the scenes to reduce the potential for fraying. (If you answered this in the video and I missed it somehow, I am so sorry. I think you might have mentioned something about using certain types of fabric that fray less?)

thank you so much for your support omg!!! so i did not actually hem the patches - i asked my teacher if i should and she said due to the netting on the back, that i would be fine just sewing them on. so yes!! this was in part due to the type of fabric i used (upholstery fabric haha which is meant to be more durable!!) and in part bc i didn’t mind it having a bit of a frayed look. if you look really closely there is a bit of fray but the layers of the fabric keep it together. if you had a different fabric i would recommend using a fray check/fray glue if the patches/shapes you’re doing are really large or maybe hemming it with bias tape or something easier than turning the fabric over on itself, if that makes sense. anyway i hope this helps!!! lmk if you have any other questions i’m happy to help!!!
