My grandma and I used to make paper dolls all the time. We would paste the doll onto thin cardboard (like cereal boxes) and cut her out, then trace her form onto the thinner paper so you could see the silhouette, and draw the outfit on top of that. It was like a stencil. We made them for hours. I'm currently creating a set of paper dolls based off for my friend as a gift!

I used to love playing with my paper dolls that my mom made when I was a kid. They weren't anything special like the dolls today. They were simple blank paper doll, but still loved.

They say some excuse that a lot of children artists don’t have the anatomy skills to make it work and it usually looks terrible, which is just silly because most young artists, regardless of style, don’t have good anatomy skills. It just is kind of telling that anime/manga is much more complex than being bad art because the teachers usually can’t look at a reference the child has and correct it. A lot of people think people’s styles are awful because of the exaggerated anatomy and automatically assume the artist can’t draw or doesn’t know proper anatomy and the only way to get out of it is to have a Picasso card and draw “realistically.”
