There's a new antique show in town, and we want to see it first! We're experimenting by paying the early bird special rate, joining a handful of others who want to see what these antique and vintage dealers have as they unpack.
Early bird antique shopping is a little different, with many items still in boxes and dealers caught up in the hustle of unpacking. Will we find enough cool things and great bargains to justify the extra $10 we paid to get in early?
The first table produces our first buy, a pair of elegant sterling and marcasite earrings...but the dealer tells us we'll have to come back to see the fine jewelry tomorrow. We pick a 1930s linen rack out of a dealer's box for just $15, and find a table with silhouettes, costume jewelry pins and a jadeite batter bowl, all at great prices that we scarf up before the bigger crowds hit the show over the weekend.
A lovely couple gives us a great hands-on show of real versus reproduction Roseville pottery, guaranteed to make future collectors feel confident in what they're buying! We get to see the reveal of a lot of other true antiques and high-quality collectibles, from primitive furniture and antique toys to Lalique animals, head vases and two pairs of handcuffs with keys that we have to take with us for our collectors to see.
Was it worth paying to go early? Despite a few hiccups (dealers who were out shopping themselves or closed early caused frustration), the chance to see these items as they arrived gives a new wrinkle to a new show that we hope gains steam and interest from dealers and collectors in the Evansville, Indiana area.

Hi George, I really enjoy your channel. I would like to add to the Lydia Pinkham comment you made about her "vegetable compound". I do recall my grandmother telling me about Lydia Pinkham's vegetable compound when I was younger. I was primarily for "female trouble" such as menopause symptoms and infertility issues. One of the marketing lines for Lydia Pinkham's was that there was a baby in every bottle. Perhaps so as Lydia's compound had among other things a very high alcohol percentage,,!

I’ve been enjoying your videos and knowledge. I love seeing all the different items you pick out to showcase and the tips as to what to look for. I grew up with a mother that shopped at antique stores when they were just “used” furniture store and dumpster diving with my father to “save” thing. I bought my first antique at 12 at an auction and have been hooked ever since. I’m sure someone has told you already but I haven’t made it through all the videos yet but the green pyrex with the flowers is called Spring Blossom. Gooseberry in the US is pink and white but the pattern is different. Thank you for sharing!

Good evening, George! That boudoir clock was nice, I have one with a cherub on top, and it keeps really good time. That nude print was really nice. I liked that one a lot. I liked that cast iron pulley...no idea what I'd do with it, but I've always liked those. That Berteaux bronze was fantastic! I'd love to have that! The bit of damage to the mirror, on the celluloid-fronted mirror, wouldn't matter a jot to me. That would've likely come home with me. There was what looked like a nice banquet lamp, at the back, behind the Mission fruit juice dispenser, that I really liked. That Czech piece of jewelry stood out to me instantly. The Czech pieces do seem to stand out. That oak suitcase was fantastic! I'd like to have one of those. I'd make a stand to set it on and use it as a side table. I liked that thread dispenser. That porcelain biscuit jar was really pretty. It did have the look of R S Prussia. For $25.00, I wouldn't have been able to resist it. That looked like a really nice show! There was definitely enough there to keep me occupied for a while. Thanks for the take-along!

I really like the boudoir clocks but so rarely find one working anymore! Good to hear one of them keeps good time. The nude was really pretty beyond the obvious. I overlooked the banquet lamp, but that is a pretty piece now that I lok again. Czech jewelry always jumps out at me, it's my favorite and I'd like to fill an oak suitcase with it! Did you think the biscuit jar was RS Prussia? I really wasn't sure but it sure had style.
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS Жыл бұрын
@@TheAntiqueNomad Yes, the Czech sets in the Czech jewelry have a quality that really makes the pieces POP! It's unmistakable. I do think the biscuit jar was R S Prussia. That style is very indicative of the pieces they made, especially round the top of it.

That U.S Marine rank poster is old! That is Pre 1959 possibly WWII era. I believe it's closer to 1921 or 1926, when the Marines we dispatched to protect the U.S. Mail. Reason being that the poster was to be posted in the Post office buildings. I would have bough that if tit was at $100.

Enjoyed watching you peruse the show before the show! I loved the child’s settee! Nice to see you point out the Vistosa pieces by TST. I own a few pieces, including a creamer and sugar and find it difficult to find more. I won’t use them due to the uranium content in the glaze but they sure make a wonderfully colorful display! I have also collected Luray in the past but I gave it all to one of my daughters. I also have a soft spot for the yellow Harlequin! That shows up occasionally but I don’t think it’s a popular collectible.
