Julie, I'm an AZ nurse. Born & raised. I get it totally. Born at St. Joes hospital, 4 decades of nursing, LOVE AZ, moved from a beautiful property in the Arcadia area. Bought on my own. Single mom. Moved to Old Town Scottsdale 15 years ago. Big mistake! I miss my property & fruit trees. WHERE WAS KZbin 30 years ago? I'm still a nurse & Eucharistic Minister. I take Communion to patients at hospitals & rehab. I wish l could help you! All my funds went to my son & raising him. Its hard, but l dont want hurricanes, bugs, mosquitoes, snow. We just have to deal. Huh sister! God bless you 🙏🏻 and many prayers 🙏🏻 ❤️

Give your corn stalks a Shakey shake to get those silks pollinated! That few stalks will have a hard time getting pollinated if you don't.

I just found you. I watch Justin and Rebecca, Jess from Roots and Refuge, and many other similar sites. I used to live in a house with a yard south of Tucson but the owners raised my rent and priced me out. I ended up homeless for a few months and struggled to find a new place. Now I’m in Phoenix in a senior apt complex, but they’ve raised the rent four time in two years. So I’m continuing to search for affordable housing and looking for ways to get food and keep me afloat. My apt complex has no porch or back patio so no place to grow food. I love to find ways to get food and build a storage plan to be prepared for all circumstances. I am a senior (76 years old) and don’t know people here. I love to follow people and feel like I have some “friends” that I care about. I do have friends and family in California, but it costs too much to live there. I pray that you and your family continue to be healthy and happy. Blessings come your way. Julie

Thanks for the tour, you have a beautiful place. Here in the UK we have an association called 'Pasture for life' that farmers can become accredited to when they pasture raise their livestock. It's not just about pasture feeding stock though, it's also about regenerating the land, and encouraging wildlife back to it. It thrilled my heart to see such a diverse mix in your pasture for this reason. I think for too long the word 'pasture' has meant just grass to people, and it's why our soils are dying. Many of them have stopped feeding those large round bales in one place too, and now roll them out to take advantage of fallen seed, and left hay being mulch. It makes so much good sense. Your milk has to be so much better for it too. As for mess; no-one is ever going to lie on their death bed and wish they'd swept the porch lol

I am not a homesteader, but have watched this channel since about the time y’all were preparing for the shed to house to be delivered to your property. And I have learned a lot from watching! I am a prepper, not necessarily for a SHTF situation, but more of a whatever comes. During the Pandemic we didn’t suffer from not having toilet paper or anything else! Same during Snowmagadden. We are an older couple (I’m 72, hubby is 82), and although he still works part time, we don’t know how much longer he can. But whatever comes our way, we will survive! (At least we pray through God’s Grace we will!) Thank you both for sharing your journey and being so open about it. May God bless your family abundantly. ♥️ from a fellow Texan

Hi from the UK.As a newcomer to your channel (i also watch Jess and Jill etc) it is lovely to hear your story and how its grown since you arrived. You have done some amazing things to improve your land and how it works for you. We rented a small plot of land about 3yrs ago, put up a polytunnel and started to grow. We soon realised we had a water problem and have spent alot of time finding ways to collect and use water. We put drain pipes off the polytunnel which runs into big IBC containers. We also have to use water bottle/wick methods for some smaller areas. We still have so much to learn but are enjoying the journey. This year we have alot of high wind and no sunshine issues, so its going to be another learning curve for us. It is my happy place and just love to watch each seed sprout and so look forward to the growing season ahead. I am going back over some of your older videos, but i look forward to your new videos. I learn so much from every video i watch. xx

A humble suggestion to make a stupendous meal: When the corn is mature and ready to pick for dinner, fill up a stockpot with a couple gallons of water and put it on the boil. You'll need at least two people to go to the corn patch -- one to pick & shuck the ears, and the other(s) to run them into the kitchen to get them in the pot ASAP. Serve with a tossed salad, or whatever the family's in the mood for that will keep them from wanting to have all the corn for themselves. (OK, I'm exaggerating, _but not too much._ )

We're in central Texas too! We're about 30 mins North of Austin. Hoping we do have a meet up! Please 🙏, let us know if you're having a chicken processing day or pig processing day that y'all want help with. I have 53 years of life experience but no homesteading experience and I'm anxious to learn before we do these things ourselves. What a beautiful property y'all have.🥰 Hoping for something just as beautiful, y'all worked really hard.

No nightshade leaves for animals or people. That includes potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants. Sweet potato leaves are good to consume. Cook down like spinach with garlic for a side dish. Animals eat them as is.

I appreciate seeing this tour. I just bought 3.19 acres of raw land in Arkansas, literally in the same city as Jess from Roots and Refuge. It is shaped like a football field and sometimes that rectangular shape feels restrictive. Do you all have an aerial shot of the land?

Your cows could get sick and die from potato leaves. On top of that, there’s no way normal white potatoes can grow in your hot summer, so I hope you got that mixed up. The cows can eat sweet potato leaves, as can your family.

We are empty nesters and I have two people here very sick with their immune so I buy plenty so we don’t have to go to the stores even now in 2024 if we go go to the stores, I take my own sanitizers and I sanitize all the buggies All the handles all that all the things that you would touch on the buggy because I don’t wanna risk my love wants to get sick or catch an infection from the we try not to go to the stores so I am a boat buyer. I buy cases of corn cases of green beans, but I’m hoping to can my own green beans this year, and as far as produce, I’ve been successful not having to produce while I’m growing a small backyard garden and a little bit in the front you can think of garlic onions, potatoes herb every I’m already on my third batch of potatoes. I do a lot of succession plans and so I’ve gotten sometimes the cucumbers are so, I’m gonna make pickles, but I always give my neighbors some all my neighbors have some kind of tree or plans that we all share to start making mayonnaise prices at the store outrageous. We just hit the Joeys, which is related to H-E-B‘s and we stocked up on so much you get more bang for the buck and Jovi the point or the trick is you gotta go super early in the morning so you don’t get the crowdbut you get a whole bunch of stuff for not much money there🌱🌱🌱 There is a Hispanic suit called Caldo and the other day I had almost every vegetable from my garden in the soup 🥘
