BYD has literally gained a leading position when it comes to automotive technology in what? 4 years maybe? Simply unbelievable.
@ykdz3115 Жыл бұрын
behind that is a long struggle of BYD over 20years on battery and automobile research and over 30 years of long run national industry policy and countless engineers hold by state owned companies and institutes. like we always say:卧薪尝胆,三千越甲可吞吴。the story of King Goukou of Yue shines upon us for 2000 years.

Yangwang has BYD best tech. I think this is the Brand's reason of existence
@tren133 Жыл бұрын
One key aspect of BYD branding and styling has been to incorporate elements of Chinese culture into its cars. You have the dynasty series of the cars with dragon styling motifs for instance. But this is further concentrated within Yangwang. Its badge, for instance, is the ancient Chinese symbol for "lightning", as seen on oracle bone text. The "Yun Nian" (DiSus) suspension system is named after the carriage which emperors used to ride in. And the distinct front and rear light signature on the U8 SUV is supposed to represent the Chinese character "Ding" 鼎, which refers to ancient Chinese ceremonial bronze cauldrons.

True, and I really like when Chinese companies embrace Chinese culture and history and utilize it in their designs. I first saw this with Geely, and I'm glad that BYD is doing it as well.

You know I have this idea. You know how at goodwood festival of speed where they have the track set up so that everyone had to do a U turn at the end of the track? And then since the U8 and the U9 both have 4 motors and probably even the same motors. If they attend that festival, while everyone else is doing drifting and all that, this U9 just shows up quietly, do a tank style 360 turn, and then jump, and then just takes off. It would be so special.

when we are talking about “两秒级”, I believe it refers to 2.x seconds instead of sub 2 seconds.

Compared to a similarly price Model X, the U8 looks like a relative bargain in China. It will be interesting to see what the U9 does on the track (Maybe enter it in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb or similar?). Wondering if they come out with a Rolls Royce sedan competitor next.

That'd be a good idea.

Spoke with Elliot about it recently and he's definitely happy to come film with us! But keep in mind, we film these pretty far in advance, so it might be a bit before you actually see a convo with him appear on the channel.

I think the LFA is the Lexus you were thinking of. V10, sadly a very short lifespan on the market and definitely the only Lexus that stands out, from design to performance, especially if you consider the fact that they usually make "regular" civilian cars.

7:45 didn't get the bit about air suspension... I'm not sure if it's even standard English. What did he want to convey? Can anyone pls tell?
@wheelsboychat Жыл бұрын
I'm saying that a rep from a company told me that air suspension is standard on their cars because the hardware it requires costs as much as a single tire.
@crazydrifter13 Жыл бұрын
@@wheelsboychat wow that's crazy to hear. Thanks. If this is true I wish more cars in the electric era go for air suspension. Perhaps AI can help in cutting down tuning costs of suspension in the future.

@@crazydrifter13 Suspension tuning is about achieving a certain "feel", and if there is one thing AI does NOT understand, it is the concept of feel. Malcolm Gladwell once asked a BMW engineer why their cars, at least up to the 2000s, had that "ultimate driving machine" feel while equally priced Mercs and Audis did not, and the engineer simply replied we tune them for longer. Problem is the amount of time to get the last few percentage points takes an exponential amount of time. It might take X amount of time to get 90% of that feel, and most car companies would stop there. Then it will take maybe another 2 times X amount of time to get to 96%, where Merc might stop. Just to get another 3% of "feel" to get to 99%, it might take 4 times X in terms of time. That's what BMW used to do for their cars to get that feel, by putting in that tuning time.
@crazydrifter13 Жыл бұрын
@@tren133 there's nothing a good inertial sensor, gyro setup can't feel imo. Speaking of feel and abstract nose I don't think there is anything about art and AI is already mastering that

Ethan butchered the pronunciation of 辇. It is Nian, not Nan. I'm pretty sure he didn't know the meaning of the word 辇. Every Chinese know the very very famous painting from Tang Dynasty called 步辇图.
