I suspect "Darwin" is Seraphina's simulation giving her time to upload herself into Forge's consciousness. She's had the thousands of years of life experience to qualify as such a large backup, and as a technopath would be similar to a strong telepath's large backup. Side note, I don't think Alpha Laura lived those thousands of years in the vault in the traditional sense. I suspect she was mostly or entirely in a stasis pod.

Synch only ages when he uses powers that he has "memorized" and the other mutant whose powers he is duplicating is not within his immediate presence. He doesn't age when he duplicates powers of mutants that are physically close to him.

Honestly I think the whole reason they developed his powers that way was so him and Old Woman Laura wouldn’t look weird when they eventually reunited - cause we all knew it was coming and “normal” Sync has the body of man in his early 20s.

Been a MINUTE since I've read a comic so excuse my ignorance. However, how does Darwin die? I thought his whole deal was he couldn't, bar that one scene where they manage to kill him in the beginning of that one movie that shall not be named.

I don't think he did die. I think he was just turned into data. He's existing as digital energy now.

Blerd, I thought Synch's body ages quickly only when he utilizes another mutant powers when the other subject is out of reach? If the mutant is within viewpoint then Synch would not age abnormally when he links with them.

They should just use Madison Jeffries' brother Scramble, the guy who can manipulate organic matter, to merge the two Lauras together.

Not a bad idea but we'd be assuming they'd want to be merged. I was thinking they COULD technically back up both, combine the two files, insert them both into whoever dies last (or take out both and regrow one with both sets of memories). The implications on Synch (aside from their willingness to do it) could be uncertain though.

They did something similar in Guardians a while back. A variant Moondragon from a perfected alternate universe travelled to the 616 alongside her wife Phyla-Vell during the Infinity Wars event. The couple wound up becoming permanent residents of the 616 universe and ended up joining the Guardians. Eventually variant Moondragon encountered her 616 counterpart and discovered that her Phyla had died, and that she had given up heroics, and had been in a state of self loathing depression for quite some time. So, being a superhero from the perfect superhero universe, she sacrificed herself and used some psychic metaphysical hand waviness to merge their two souls and minds in one body.

@Blerd Without Fear A Quick question about what you said about Synch's "degeneration issue". I thought that he only aged faster when he used powers outside of the proximity of his "plug" so to speak? This is specifically referring to the newly gained "muscle memory" upgrade.

I was/am under the impression that Darwin WASN'T resurrected because of the reasoning that they were under the impression that he was simply a captive.

Couldn’t you actually argue that the X-23 and Alpha aren’t the necessarily the same considering Alpha is hundreds of yrs evolved and therefore a future aspect or basically the same situation as young Cable and OG Cable or to really confuse things like Iron Lad, Kang, and Immortus lol

What if it was Darwin piggybacking on to Forge that caused the huge jump in zeta bytes of data on his backup, and now Darwin is in the wind, BUT it's not what we saw Forge witness. That was a false memory by Seraphina, and the real Darwin is still out there, no both figuratively and literally in the wind. I can totally see a scenario where Darwin more or less makes that data form of himself into a form of psionic energy and gets into his own head to realize what all is going on.

What I love about characters like Destiny, Mystique, Forge, Xavier, Storm, Magneto, Exodus, Cyclops, and Emma Frost is they want a prosperous world for their people... what that looks like varies but more often than not it has nothing to do with prosperity at the expense of humans, just a world where mutants are afforded peaceful, happy, productive lives.

I honestly don't see why they can't just update their backup with BOTH Laura memories, then they both kill each other. The resurrected Laura will have memories of both Lauras.

I'm curious to see how long we'll have to wait to hear the Quiet Council's stance on having two Laura Kinneys up and about. I'd skip ahead past the likely suggestion to kill one off (despite it not being either's fault) and assume the "fair" rulings would be: 1. Alpha Wolverine takes precedence, Beta would no longer be backed up but would be allowed to live out her life 2. Both would continue to backed up with the understanding the next that dies won't be brought back; then if/when the second dies, the resurrected Wolverine would receive a combined backup of both. Question is, with them formerly being so resilient, why's it so common, now that there’s resurrection that everything kills Wolverines so easily? Whatever ruling, the actual outcome shouldn't be realized for some time to come.

There was an unnamed, unseen character similar to Serafina hinted at, way back in the late 80s or early 90s run of the X-Men, by Prof. X. Said the mansion was always being looked after by a mutant that lived on the property that was undetectable by any known means.

There is something that is never explained that I think is pivotal here: who was the third mutant Forge incorporated into the suit?! When Forge and Sinister speak at the beginning of the previous issue, they only say the mutant's powers are psionic. I think this will be important to the entire encounter with "Darwin."

Darwin could've piggyback on Forge and stayed in the vault at the same time as he mentioned he liked that he could be in multiple places at any time due to his evolution into code. This was a great review of my favorite Marvel series!

Generally I am actually excited about the possibility of Serafina evolving so far that she is possibly starting to question the children of the vaults motivation. I mean it seems like they are so focused on plan A and Plan B… nobody has discussed what plan C going to be? They want to conquer everything but what exactly is their endgame? And maybe Serafina, is first asked that question. Honestly in the world of science fiction it has not been the first time and entity or an individual had had countless time to change who they are. I think the best example was from an episode of justice league unlimited. The league was fighting what was clearly a robot made by Lex Luthor and when it was going to explode Superman took the explosion and everyone thought he was gone but it turned out the energy for the explosion set him hundreds and thousands of years into the future. With no yellow son to give him strength he was slowly becoming a human being and had to resort to being a normal warrior working hard to feed himself and close himself just like a caveman. But in that world he also finally gets to meet vandal Savage. Immediately he wanted to attack him but found out that hundreds and thousands of years he is no longer the same person he was. The reason why was he actually succeeded in one of his plans and as a result he ended up killing everyone on the planet leaving him the only one alive because of his immortality. It was because of his isolation he had a type of nervous breakdown which caused him to become more humane and humble. In fact the whole reason why he wanted to help Superman go back in the past…. What’s the tell him to stop himself from succeeding so that the future will change. And Superman does go back in time and at first we don’t think he succeeded but then when he starts to fade away with the rest of the world he is relieved that Superman succeeded and stopped him from doing whatever he did in the past that caused the end of the world. So you see he ended up changing from the insane tyrant he was to a more humane and humble person because he was driven insane by his isolation from any one he could talk to. So maybe she has not just evolved physically but maybe mentally she’s starting to wonder what the long-term game plan is.

reminder to people that legion of X basically proves the whole souls wandering into their cloned body upon revival with how the new banshee was able to interact and warn nightcrawler of what he should be doing after he was killed by sinister and before they resurrected him, of which also kept his changed mutation horns. clones are just able to develop their own souls if they are left to run on long enough to deviate from the original and if original is still alive, madelyne and gabby are examples of such clones that are now seen as their own individuals.

Considering some of the powers and some of the villains in the MCU... it makes sense.. like how the movie MORGAN could take place at a weapon X facility and the girl Morgam is a clone of Magic with different powers... same guy from Logan, before he turned bad and lost an arm..

Not gonna lie, I don't like that another male character of color is being put in a relationship with a white character. It only highlights how few characters of color there are in the comics universe or how few are prominent enough to be associated with another potential partner of color. If you don't create more characters of color to pair with other characters of color or hire actors of color to play the love interest of another character, WHEN ARE CHARACTERS/ ACTORS OF COLOR GOING TO BE CREATED OR HIRED. Affirmative action makes people uncomfortable until you realize that without an intentional counterbalance the system is not going to change naturally or in a timely manner.

The fact we have at least 2 original plus resurrected mutants proves my point that this idiotic story of Resurrection Protocols is just a cloning program. We lost many mutants along the way just to have clones running around. Let's see if they start deteriorating. That would explain the erratic attitude we see many displaying that doesn't fit with the original characters' personalities.
