Trump wanted the cruise ship off Oakland CA to stay out at sea so our numbers wouldn't go up. Not only is he dishonest but he has no compassion or concern for doing the right thing. My work has told us to work from home if at all possible. I feel terrible for those that have no choice but to work with high populations of folks. I heard an interview with Uber drivers this morning and how hard it is to know if their clients are sick. Students are just as at risk for infection and spreading the virus to others. Also, we only have big data from China, where for decades they've had a one child policy. The number of adults 30+ are obviously many more than under 30 and Chinese parents will do anything to keep their child healthy so you can't compare the two societies. But even in China from 1000 deaths recorded, nearly 200 were below 60 years old. If it's true that only 8 in the under 30 age range died then that's still an extremely large number if compared to the flu. Can you imagine 52,000 young people in the US dying in a single outbreak of the flu? That's what you're looking at with a 2% infection rate.

I saw my Doc today. When we finished up he said, "I'll see ya in six months...well, I hope we'll see each other in six months." Then we bumped elbows and I left. He also said not to go to the hospital for treatment of C-19 unless I was having trouble breathing. All they can do to treat you is ventilate your lungs to help you breathe. That's the only treatment available currently. I feel better about things after the exam. At least I know my doctor is thinking what I'm thinking.

Okay, so I was a RAS just when the Internet was exploding. We had to take a couple of days and go to a seminar in the library about analizing sources for trustworthiness. I didn't realize just how valuable that little seminar was going to be twenty-mmmphm years later. I STILL ask, "Who is this source? What are their criteria for publication? What is their reputation? What is their motivation?" whenever I read/hear information. Do they still teach these things in school? Maybe we need to teach it EVERYWHERE.

Strangely I equate the messaging that the administration choose for this pandemic with the messaging around, manufacturing & coal jobs coming back to US. Being optimistic is good, but not allowing people to understand the truth and take precaution is insane. The people in trump administration know that the trend for manufacturing work in US (and in the World) is to decline and the impact on people with +45 years is very hard to avoid because their skill set is very hard to change now. But that is not true for their sons and daugthers, those have the time to acquire skills that made them have a better change to have an rewarding professional life. Lying about this will ruin the lifes of many of them, although they will only understand that 10-15 years from now. With the virus the impact is immediate, hopefully the death tool will not be extremely high but we will lose lifes that we did not needed to.

Sorry about your friend. When I was 69, I was really sick and repeatedly hospitalized for complications from diabetes and high blood pressure. But I was able to recognize that I could take steps to recover. Two years later, I am still a diabetic with high blood pressure but my weight is down, I exercise vigorously on a daily basis, I feel like I did in my 30s, and I haven't had any issues that caused me to seek emergency treatment. My point is that it is possible to wake up, recognize one's situation and take corrective steps. But the crucial step is to WAKE UP and see things as they are. Sorry, I don't do cult of personality and if Sanders is elected it won't change the status quo because the progressives haven't done enough ground work getting their people in office and outreach to the average person. They just talk to each other and pass the bong or wine, or both depending on income level and age, but I'll say this, if Bernie gets the nomination I'll be there on election day, not because I believe in Sanders capacity but to get Trump out. I owe that to America and the world.
