Misogyny: origins of men's hatred of women

In These Times: speaking for the mind

Күн бұрын

Female hate crimes, humiliation, harassment, degradation, rape and murder have been celebrated in cultures and religions for centuries as the acceptable norm. The idea that this might be wrong is a modern one. Hence the word: "misogyny".
Previn Karian discusses the psychological origins of men's hatred of women in the profound inferiority of the male brain structure that cannot relate to life (birth) or pleasure (erotic zones) as women are biologically able to. Like no other animal on the planet, the male brain obsessively destroys its own kind and kinship group, but especially women.
This bio-wiring is a psychological sickness implanted in all "civilisations". The failure to understand this has resulted in the failure of laws and even feminism to dent male aggression and its specific targeting of women.
This discussion is a necessary starter on the psychological origins of men's hate and fear of women. Until men confront their own darkness and shadow between themselves, there can be no progress in clearing out the roots of misogyny.

@@wingnut71 thanks for engaging with this - and a lot of your observations will be opened out much more in the new channel (pinned above) which I hope you might subscribe to. What you describe as the aggregate emotional effects of rejection as a 'bitterness' is what Winnicott termed 'immaturity' which is a psychological-emotional lack of development due to either deprivation or abuse. He used it first to analyse delinquency in children after World War 2 in London who had lost either family or homes and were placed in unsupervised care homes. So 'immaturity' (as indicated in my comment) is being used technically and refers to Winnicott. How that plays out in what happens to men being rejected by women requires way more space than what we have here - hence the new channel. Hope to see you there.

@@inthesetimesspeakingforthemind "lack of psychological development" and "immaturity" sound very perjorative terms if you ask me. Perhaps this was intentional as the purpose of this channel appears to be the for the airing of misandrous content. I mean, are girls that develop eating disorders described in the same manner or are they treated with care, concern, love? But a boy becomes bitter and angry, all he will get is scorn, and this will just increase his anger and alienation. It's like telling the anorexic that they are indeed fat and they need to eat less.

Insecure men will see a woman who’s living her best life and cry about it and yet, they wonder why they can’t have lasting relationships with one. I dealt with one of this phenotype when I was 16 and while I’m not overly traumatized by the experience, I take it as a lesson to not give them the time of day. It’s pretty much men like them that I’d rather be single and celibate than deal with their bs 🙄

Our grandmas did it because they didn't have much of a choice they suffered in silence not because loved being doormats their survival depended on it, its been a gradual progression out of male slavery. Baby Boomers were like a transitory period. Millennials finally were able to take a step into the light albeit its messy as it usually is in the beginning it will take time to find a better way. But notice they didn't have the intelligence to create something of the light, something that is healing to the planet its all emotional vomit loaded with manipulation, sexual exploitation, immature behavior, threats, disinformation, yet they claim to be logical and leaders. A true leader would have lit a fire, would be creating solutions, would love the planet, and dialogue, not a whole manosphere dedicated to the demoralization of women, which only proves everything on this video, they hate us, and they hate our ascension, and want to destroy us at every cost even if its cheap dumb rebuttals.

We, as women, have made excuses for men’s behavior way too long. Years ago, a cat broke into my small greenhouse and killed one of my goldfish. When I saw that it was the lone female, who was swollen with eggs, I knew that she was the one who was killed because she was heavy and slow with the eggs. In other words she died because she was a female, bearing young. I sat on the back steps and howled with grief, realizing my grief was not because of a dead fish but because of the total injustice of the treatment of women! I had no idea I had been stuffing those feelings inside me my whole life!

@wingnut71
@wingnut71 8 ай бұрын
No smoke without fire as they say. What are you doing to make them think that you are a gold digger? Could it be that men are just waking up to the fact that all women, (or nearly all, coz there are always some exceptions), are essentially "gold diggers". After all you seek out men with money and status then get offended when men notice that you are really only interested in them because of the wealth they have. We are not blind. We see that women want a man with money, and given that you describe yourself as poor, it may be very obvious indeed that you are after a rich man to change your lifestyle for the better. I'm not disrespecting you, I mean no one wants to be poor. Besides it makes sense for a woman to seek out a man who has the best chance of supporting her and her future offspring. That is just the nature of sexual selection for women. Naturally men will criticise women for it, because to them it seems "shallow" and contrary to the idea of " true love" that we have all been fed since childhood. Of course the reverse is true as well. How often have we heard women criticise men for what they see as superficial obsession with youth and appearance? But again this is just what men want from a woman from a sexual selection point of view. We don't care about what money you have, we only care that you are fit and attractive and willing to have sex, but we don't want to marry the town bicycle either. We get a lot of crap from women about "double standards" but the fact is sex is different for men than for women. A man does not want to have a woman who has given herself to lots of men. Why? Well it's obvious is it not? How she behaved in the past is an indication of how she will behave in the future. If she is always looking for the next guy to bang then she is a bad bet for a wife. Besides, if she has been with a lot of men in the local area and has gotten herself a reputation, this will diminish his status in the community. Why would he want that? It is just a simple matter of both sexes having different priorities when it comes to finding a mate. It is what it is and it is not going to change anytime soon. Men and women will both complain but it is just reality. No point crying about it.
@wingnut71
@wingnut71 8 ай бұрын
@@Thereferencepoint Nah, that's not how projection works, sweetie. Go ahead, look it up. Projection is when you accuse someone else of the exact thing that you are doing. So why would a rich man accuse a poor woman of being after his money when that's not what he wants from a woman. The fact is men know that women want their money. Sometimes it is just super obvious and other times it's more subtle, but we all know it, and that makes you mad, because you know it's not a good look. If a woman is really poor but is pretty and humble and pleasant to be with we may decide to give her a chance, because we are not after her money. However if she lacks these endearing qualities or simply makes it too obvious that she is looking for money, she will most likely get the boot. We men are not as stupid as you seem to think we are. It's not " insecurity" it's simply self preservation. Who wants a gold digger? Doesn't matter how pretty she is, she is bad news.

as a woman who's constantly confronted by misogyny off and online, the content of this video was very cathartic. the hatred of women is so normalized to me, it's nice to be reminded i am actually a person and deserve the same respect as a man (this alone is revolutionary to maybe 90% of the men i interact with online as well as all the important men in my life). there have been and continue to be so many attempts to take something as basic as my humanity away from me and, every time, it's disgusting and pushes me further from men to the point where i truly believe my life is better without them.

As women it is our birthright to safely walk the Earth in peace. I notice this too. I watch a lot of sports videos. A woman can be an amazing athlete and there will ALWAYS be comments about men being better athletes. It's pathetic when you see a woman lift a lot weight and you can count on men saying that's light weight for men they can lift so much more. Yeah, men have more capacity for muscle and biological advantages, we fucking know. That doesn't take away from the fact that the woman is strong. She is working within her strength potentional as a female, and excelling, and are still disrespected for it like it means nothing. They don't even think about how a woman lifting this much is the equivalent of a man lifting more because she is working within her strength capacitiy as a woman cause they drool at the chance to put them down.

In ancient times, women were goddesses. In many cultures, the women reigned. Christianity decided we were inferior and began the teachings that we now see, their god only, man before woman, women as property. We are the vessel that brings new life to this earth. This really explains why my channel is able to exist and why I have been peacefully single for almost 3 years. When I think of dating, I feel drained, scared and like it is bleak. I feel it is very unlikely I will meet someone I will actually like or who will genuinely like me as a woman. Essentially, the genders are coexisting for convenience of sex, finances and children. Otherwise, after so many years, do we really like each other? I'd say no which is why half marriages end in divorce and many of them end within the first 7 years of marriage, when the sex begins to wane and things get a bit more routine and boring. I think we, humans, have been lied to with the fairy tales. We all know they aren't real, yet, women are still looking for their prince while males seem to be looking for a 1960s housewife stereotype. As I study this and continue to realize this, I become more comfortable with my Singlehood and find happiness in so many other things, including hobbies and finding meaning/purpose in my life and that keeps me fulfilled and busy with life.

I'm glad you've found contentment, that's the important thing, no matter what. My theory on why the divorce rate is so high (based on personal experience, I guess and what I have observed in others as well) is that people are put under enormous pressure to be with a person whom their friends/family agree with, as opposed to someone who actually meets their needs. My husband and I (I've been happily married since 2016) are both quite stubborn, assertive people & so when people had their little whinge that we didn't quite 'match' or 'look good together' (or whatever other petty concerns or jealousies they all carried on with), frankly, we didn't give a s**t. As far as we were concerned we were (and still are) very compatible together (in every way) and if the world doesn't understand that well f**k 'em. My husband was even disowned by his family for marrying me and when we got the email from his Mum as to why it was basically "well you wouldn't change your wedding for me on two days' notice so I don't like you anymore". People meddle so so much in other people's relationships! I saw an article recently where people were whinging online that a woman married to a basketballer was "too overweight for him" - and everyone was getting upset about that! Who cares!!! I think if we just let people choose who they actually want in the first place (even if it's someone who's a little overweight, or a different skin colour, or *gasp* do what I do and marry a geek [I'm quite sapio so I've always loved geeks]) we need to just let people be.

Respect and love are earned, not automatic. In my 70s, I have just realised through life experience, that men in general are more distanced from Life than women are. As a woman, I feel my connection with Earth from moment to moment, and this feeling nourishes my wellbeing like nothing else. But men on the whole seem to live in the head, abstracted from Life. Men are not in touch with the cycles of Nature, the times and seasons, whereas as a woman I am at one with these things. Because men in general are disconnected from their own source - Nature - they go haywire and behave in destructive ways. The antidote to this is for men to consciously develop their own relationship with their Source, with Nature, as the indigenous original Native American men have consciously done.

How they teach their boys to not respect women through the behaviors they exhibit to mom. In traditional homes anyway. I've experienced it growing up, my father was misogynistic. He also hated on my brother emotionally, all his life and ruined him. When raising my own. The man who helped me wasn't their biological, the bio was addicted to porn and did things without concent and by surpise. The second, raised by a Mormon father, but had divorced parents, had issues with anger and more. His step father was into incest, but also touched my SIL when she was only 14. My brothers daughter got raped by someone in day care before age three. Myself, I watch my uncle abuse my cousin at young age with physical abuse, that same cousin came for summers to my house away from his parents and sexually abused me by age nine, told me if I told he'd kill me. Honestly, I was more afraid to tell because I didn't want him to get hurt. Told my mother at age 26. There are other females I know who also have been sexually molested. Males do seem to have an issue, we wouldn't have more than 64,000 pregnancies from rape in the USA (in states who banned abortion isnt counting the state which women did get raped and had abortion) and those are only the reported rapes, not all may end up in pregnancy. Definitely the symptom of a larger problem!!

Apparently the wickedness of women goes all the way back to Eve in the Bible. Jordan Peterson has an interesting 3 mins video on why men are terrified of women. It's quite a good intro to the attraction-rejection thing....He uses Carl Jung to talk about the power of women. I'll be using the Jungian model to talk about men.
@Liisa3139

Finally!!! I have been expecting that somebody would say that men have to solve their problem - aggression, violence, disrespect - among themselves. I actually commented this to Jordan Peterson once when he said something along the line of women causing a problem in society by wanting to make a career and this resulting in boys performing poorly in education. I pointed out that men still have most power in the world - in all parliaments of the world, in most big companies. They are overwhelmingly more powerful than women. So my question was, why are men not solving the problem of young boys. If boys are unhappy at school and fail to find interest in their own future, why don't men go and help them? Why aren't they interested in becoming teachers and to get involved in the development of young boys? Men have the money and they have the majority in the parliaments. Why don't they change things? They have the means, but clearly they don't want to. It is a lame excuse to blame feminists. They are very few; some of them are loud which may make it seem that they are more than actually is the case. Feminists have little money and few seats in parliaments. Note that woman is not a synonym with feminist. Most women are not feminists. Most women know very little about actual feminist theories or ideologies. Men have resources to change how things are done in schools and universities, but apparently they rather whine about feminists than take the task of becoming teachers at school. Too boring, too tedious, too low status. There you go...

My two cents as a farmer who has dealt with quite a few mammals and their mating habits. Very rarely if ever is mating violent towards females. Cows, horses, sheep all have mating that are dangerous for the males and they carefully dance through their various behaviours to make sure they can mount safely. Stallions can get killed by mares. I’ve seen far too many bulls with broken (yes, there is a bone) penises. Rams ask really gently if the ewes are receptive and they never pressure the girls who aren’t. It’s not in any species best interest to damage either sex.
