Let’s be honest, the Grammys had this whole thing planned. 1. Nominate them in at least one category for clout. 2. Promote BTS intensively to gain hype. 3. Confirm a BTS Grammy performance. 4. Push the award announcement to the premiere show. 5. Snub BTS of their well deserved award. 6. Drag their performance to the end of the show, despite the obvious snub, to keep fan viewership high.

I have just been a full blown ARMY for a year now and ive seen from their previous videos how our Boys fight off discrimination from their debut era until now. I wonder how veteran ARMYs able to cope up after all those year when here i am, 1st time to actually see and experience this kind of blatant mockery and xenophobia and how BTS and ARMY has been used for marketing and BTS being treated as trash ....and i feel so devastated..😭 We all know how shitty the Grammy is so we all put our bars low..but we didnt realize that Grammy would even go lower than expected. We all know that BTS do not need Grammy to validate their success. Whats heartbreaking is the Boys dreamed of having their Grammy award and they worked so hard to get it and even if they may seem cool about them not getting it... deep down they knew they really deserved that award.. I just wish that the boys would not allow themselves to be used again and just give up on their Grammy dream coz i dont think i will be able to endure something like this happening again. But i remember V said on their Vlive after the grammy, "lets go again next year. ARMY help us again" ...And thats what really broke me. Those 7 pure souls still believed that they still stand a chance if they work even harder. So i guess, we just have to support them prepare ourselves for another battle next year..and just hope something will change for the better.

Everyone expected BTS to win, even the nominees themselves expected them to win! Gaga was sleeping when the winner was announced. She's not even on the screen waiting for the announcement with Ari, Ari had to call her through the phone to let her know that they won, while BTS got ready at 2am with their outfits and makeup done, waiting on the screen thinking they would have the chance to appear on live even though they could not attend. I think it was pretty obvious that Grammy is hinting their win if Grammy would make them appear on the screen and invite them to perform. No one expected them not to win. Grammy themselves wanted BTS to perform more than Gaga and Ari, that's why they invited them and kept promoting them! If Grammy wanted Gaga and Ari to win, why wouldn't they invite them to perform? At least make them perform to show people why you chose them as winners! Let people see why is their performance so great how can they be the winners for group performance if they did not perform at all whilst the nominated artists get to perform? And surprisingly, group performance award was highly anticipated and it was televised on the main program in the past, so why did they decided to put it in the pre-ceremony now? And not only did they push their performance near the end, it was always "BTS coming next" but we had to actually wait for an hour to watch them perform. BTS is also the only performer without a montage before their performance. To make it worse a part of Taehyung's performance in Dynamite was cut short (17 seconds) and after the performance the host had to remind everyone that BTS built the Grammy set in Korea just to receive nothing, like that sounds so mocking and rude to me. It was a total disaster. The award show producer Ben Winston tweeted later after the Grammys saying that he was just the producer and he is not the judge so he's not responsible for BTS' loss, why do you say that? why do you cat? as if you didn't ruin the award show by giving BTS no montage, shorter performance and putting their performance at the very near end. I bet he is in one team with the Grammy corrupted board of "secret committee" to make it look like they don't give a fuck about BTS. BTS were treated so badly after all the hardwork, respect and humbleness they had shown to win this award. The unfairness is just downright infuriating. It's like Grammy never treated them seriously to begin with and they're just using them as their last desperate means to save their view ratings because so many artists boycotted and called out the award show they had no other choice. I just hope justice or karma get served for this, Grammys ratings is going to plunge down even more next year.

Seriously, how much harder can BTS work? Is it even possible for BTS to work even harder than now? BTS members sat down and talked about it before the announcement was made, and they acticipated this would happen for the same reasons we all know. It is so sad. Grammy's clocked in only 8M-ish viewers (among a record low), whereas BTS doing a short post-Grammy "thank you" for their fans' support on their VLive attracted over 7M viewers. the math looks pretty obvious. BTS shared that they stayed up late to watch the Grammy's for their own performance, but were not aware that it wasn't going to be aired until the end of the show. this isn't about American infatuation, it's the epitome of being used, after being snubbed for a category they excel in.

I mean, no hate but Ariana and Gaga didn't even care to attend when it was PLANNED according to the US time zones and look how they bragged after winning. While on the other hand BTS recreated the whole grammy stage and background, mind you, DRESSED UP for the ceremony and waited for the announcement and stayed up all night when it was like 5 am in south Korea. I have never felt second hand heart break like this. It's worse than my own heartbreak. And when Namjoon said "I told you" after the announcement, I almost felt tears in my eyes man. Don’t worry The Beatles also were being criticized for their song and their fandom but they are truly legend now after 30 years since their separation after ten years . What I learned at this Grammy - that their main “diva” was...The Commercials...Every “10 min” was Commercial!!! And, of course, the announcement about BTS performance...(which according to their “list” should be in a middle of the main show)...and what we’ve got...about 7 hours of waiting (pre-show doesn’t count)...and Dynamite song wasn’t in full original timing..I think that if we’ll also start to point on this moments-the answer will be like-be glad that they are even performed...And just to mention-there is still no on-line version of performing from Grammy, you can find all performances in Grammy page except BTS...

Disappointed but not surprised was definitely how I felt! Even with all the achievements Dynamite has aside, they were nominated for a performance category and didn't get it. Based on performance alone, Dynamite was performed so many time, and each one was unique, they made sure that we weren't getting the exact same thing every time, especially with the set design and all that. And then to hear the host after their performance speak about how much effort was put into the performance, and that they should be awarded for that alone...that...was annoying.

Gigi girl, that was the most explicit analytical breakdown of that whole Grammys award show crap which expressed how I was feeling about them using BTS for the western recording industry's selfish self promotion before slamming this world famous, extremely humble, multi talented group down, so they should know their place. I don't know the other artists as I don't listen to them. As a 67yr old Maori kuia (elderly woman) from New Zealand, who has been a BTS Granny ARMY FAN, since 2017, I applaud their gracious acceptance and controlled disappointment, of this award loss. So so agree with your analysis, Jiji! Your argument about Dynamite, it’s nomination for western fit, is spot-on. The Grammys will never be culturally ready for the weight of works like Black Swan and MOTS 7 as an album. So let’s see how the boys and BIgHit deal with this quandary and what they focus their creative energies on, going forward. As a parallel, Parasite triumphed at the Oscars because that panel takes artistic criteria more seriously, and has evolved more sincerely towards diversity, judging by the nominations this year. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening in the music industry. Suga may just need to adjust his goals a little, because IMHO, the quality of their music will continue to mature and gain depth, but not in any way thanks to the Grammys... which may end up being an unworthy distraction/diversion.

Girl, I'm coming back to rewatch your video and I agree with everything you said. This year with them releasing Butter and Permission To Dance, who knows if those songs will be nominated this year at the Grammys. Butter maybe but not really sure about PTD. I really wish some of the artists last year who were nominated won at least one award. Take Roddy Ricch for example. Nominated for 6 awards including Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year and ended up with 0 WINS!!! That right there was a huge red flag for me. It hurts coz in Bts' reaction video on the Grammy announcement Rm said "I told you" to jhope (or the members, not sure). The boys knew how skeptical this whole nomination thing but they're trying to be positive and is still honored that they were nominated and even got to perform in the Grammys. Heck, they're even consoling their fandom to not feel sad and instead feel happy for their achievements. I'm not mad that they didn't win against the big artists, it is indeed an honor to be nominated along them. I'm mad that Grammys purposely used Bts and the power of Army for clout. I mean with the MusicCares performance it was within a few hours but it’s been a few days and still nothing? I can’t help but think they (BigHit and BTS) know how much they were mistreated and how shitty the awards were too them. The Scammys did the same exact thing last year with Ariana Grande...She was nominated in 5 CATEGORIES with thank u next being the biggest and most iconic era in 2019, they used her (the biggest and most influential popstar currently) to promote their show, they made her perform a huge medley, she slayed the red carpet...for what? ZERO AWARDS. They used her for clout, the same way they did with BTS this year. I'm glad that Ariana won this year considering the treatment she received last year, and I genuinely hope BTS will be awarded in the future, because they really deserve it.

I am a 50 year old Korean American kpop fan. I stopped watching Grammy years ago. I thought by now, radios would play bts Korean songs since Psy's music paved the way in 2012. I'm not at all shocked about how they screwed over my boys. They are bunch of users and conceited folks who won't change their old ways. I'm just glad that Korean pop is this popular in my lifetime.

I second every thing you said, but also: I am truly heartbroken over the boys' reaction to this. These stupid western industries are constantly giving them the impression of not being or working enough. Yoongi saying first thing that "he'll work harder" was such an enormous punch in the guts. It's as if BTS are the ones that need to meet other's standards and have to give more. But the Grammys can lean back and just enjoy their money flowing in from the clout they got. If they just gave the award to BTS things would've been fine!! We would've been happy, it would have been a giant moment and step forward, even if somewhat performative and we would've probably never given a damn about another Grammy again. But I suspect that that's their issue. They realised the profit BTS gives them and thought to themselves... "Let's make them come here every year" But you know what? I am done. I'm happy you posted this. These are my thoughts too after the Grammys. Like, really no hate on Dynamite..but when I saw their tweet said they got the nomination, my first true reaction was.."Really? Dynamite?" Not even Black Swan or On..or even MOTS 7 got nominated but Dynamite? or even Agust D D-2? But I was so happy for them because they were so happy when they got nominated that I really wanted them to win. Such a conflicted feelings. You know what, if BTS still care about winning Grammys..it will be the song that BTS wrote, BTS produced and BTS composed and in Korean. I am so glad to know that I am not the only one who had the same thought as you in regards to the song Dynamite. After all these years, I thought it was not like our boys to keep the demo song completely. Between the lyric and the song itself did not feel like them totally. Although, I enjoy the song very much but I felt it did not have that core element and level of quality that defines BTS productions. I too, felt that Dynamite was like a bitter sweet journey in regards to how it is exposed and accepted. It just hurts me to think how much our boys have to put up with. Although I celebrated when Dynamite became BB#1, I also felt sad it had to be that song compared to their other masterpieces. You're definitely braver than I to be able to lay it out as it is. Nevertheless, I will keep being their hope and support them 100% no matter what. BTS and ARMY FOREVER!💜

Grammy's failing reputation has justifiably diminished over the years, as it's become infamous for their snubs and pathetic feet-dragging attempts at "diversity", and that continues to turn a LOT of viewers off in general. and when it comes to BTS, the predictable snubbing couldn't be more brazen and obvious in the opting to use BTS as bait to prop up the Grammy's ever-decreasing show ratings. sadly, the xenophobia and not-so-subtle hints of racism against BTS is also undeniably evident. on a side note, i've only started following BTS late last year (their music - lyrically, melodically, thoughtful messaging, etc. - along with their generously upbeat, genuinely sincere natures and enduring professionalism that come through in every excellent performance, made 2020 so much more bearable, to say the least!) and find their range of artistry to be nothing short of brilliant and well deserving of the broad accolades that they receive from fans and other notable industry awards organizations worldwide. that all said, this may be another frustratingly familiar barrier that's being laid onto BTS's path, but these very humble and uniquely talented guys nonetheless give reasons to have faith in the their astounding abilities that this, too, is a barrier they can break, if they so choose. if BTS wants a Grammy to add to their mountain of hard-earned awards/acknowledgments, they'll continue to receive support from the ever-growing masses whose lives they've touched so deeply...and that support is bigger than any trophy. on another note, their Grammy performance was off-the-chain ICONIC (yep, got all giddy just seeing Suga/Yoongi back in the game, btw - happy he was there for their historic performance!), proving once again, just why they're so adored, and how they ARE the BEST pop group performers on the planet, by far.
