True, but it has to be stored in huge tanks/natural "tank" structures. Once they're full, where do you put more? There are natural limits to drill-baby-drill, and they're not under ANYONE's control (OPEC, trump, anyone). To increase demand for gas, the price has to drop -perhaps a lot, especially from tariff-fueled highs - to get people to start driving again (think during/after COVID). The US oil barons won't be happy about having to lower prices, so they may not side with trump on this one. OPEC+ attacked the US fracking industry twice by flooding the market, in 2014 and 2020. That final flood was ill-timed, as American storage capacity was topped off as demand plummeted due to COVID. The effects on UAE's and KSA's economy for that 2014 flood was significant... with UAE no longer subsidizing gasoline prices and adding a 5% VAT tax to all goods and services. Dum Dum Donny is cutting millions from the workforce on day one, the massive worker shortage is going to in what way produce capable workers for all the additional shipping, pumping, refining, storage, (don't bother with safety as that is gone with the EPA being shut down). Ready, Set, Nope! Where I live, the rail-transit runs on 100% locally-generated wind-energy. My home energy is also generated 100% green and local. The fossil fuels industry isn't entitled to one cent of my money.
@victoriajohnson-parratt697512 күн бұрын
Where do you live with that kind of mass transit Tim?
@WBS00112 күн бұрын
Damn, I _wish_ I had that option, but I live in a modest townhouse, and have no place to put solar let alone wind. All I can do is make my stuff as efficient as I can inside the walls.
@ERAforALL12 күн бұрын
@@WBS001THAT is a huge part of the multi prong solution to our energy usage, reducing energy consumption. We all need to practice it better. As someone else posted, something like 40% of oil goes into the production of plastics. We need to reduce use of them, as well.

Much of the oil produced will be from fracking, the area that trump has been talking about is all about fracking and much of the oil cannot be accessed because the equipment to reach that oil supply has not been invented yet.

But, but, but... he is super smart, and has a smart brain, and the best words; surely that's.... _enough_ ... no?
@oldarchillies16312 күн бұрын
One word - plastics. Thirty to fourty-five percent of oil consumed is plastics. Want oil production to decrease, then stop using plastic packaging.
@kingrayog12 күн бұрын
Unless you are a CEO of multiple monopolies, you have no idea what you're talking about. Even if the average person stops using plastic, we have nothing to do with companies using plastic when they ship goods. 🙄
@cho4d12 күн бұрын
while i agree that wasteful use of plastic is bad, plastic its self is an insanely useful material. I don't care about oil production per se i care about how we use that oil... and using it to make plastics is probably the best use of it.
@whygohome17212 күн бұрын
Demand is decreasing because people are buying electric vehicles. My friend just bought one for $40,000 with a $5000 rebate and 3 years OF FREE CHARGING!
@CricketsBay12 күн бұрын
Free charging where? Like, the local gas station has a little depot with charging stations for Tesla cars, no charge to the customer, ever. Very few people seem to use it though. The local electric company across the river installed not so free charging stations outside their headquarters. Those get used 24/7. Most everybody seems to charge their electric car at home though.

But isn't our oil heavy, sour, and more difficult to refine and Saudi oil light, sweet, easily refined?
@michaelgreaves237512 күн бұрын
Yep. It's great for complex distillates. It fractures well for certain industrial chemicals. It's just not the best for gasoline.
@florencejessup243212 күн бұрын
No, it is the opposite. US oil is mostly from shale and is light, sweet. US refineries mostly process heavy sour because they were built decades ago when heavy, sour dominated the oil market. The upshot of this is that US oil is not used to produce US gas.
@WBS00112 күн бұрын
I wasn't familiar with the sweet/sour terms (looked them up), but appreciate the education. Perhaps we could convince Mr. smart-brain best-words to chug some and tell us the difference in taste (didn't he tell us to drink bleach and disinfectant the last time around? It's directly in-parallel with his own suggestions)

Don't the oil companies decide how much to drill? Is it even trump's decision?!
@WBS00112 күн бұрын
Yes they do. No, it isn't. Last time around, trump gave them hundreds of drill-permits; none were used; all were "banked" for future use when prices would (presumably) be higher. That's why Biden *tried* to pull some of them (unused permits) back
