Here's my concept. 1. It will take place in the same year when the book was published. 2. The dinosaur and creature designs will be a homage to the Charles R Knights. 3. Or have dinosaurs that are native to south America. 4. Or create Dinosaur decedents. 5. It will be 100% faithful to the book.

Considering that in original adaptation they change dinosaurs from book to better match knowledge of the time the best way to honor said movie would be do the same. Last century bring lots of information and change our perception of prehistoric life to totally different place. And more interesting one tbh.

@dondragmer24124 жыл бұрын
You mean descendants. I like the idea of dinosaurs native to South America, such as Carnotaurus (see Disney's Dinosaur movie), Amargasaurus, Giganotosaurus, Argentinosaurus, etc. May have trouble with audiences accepting Roxton stealing diamonds from the Indians' land. And I wonder about including ape-men and other mammals that were in the book. Those would demand some kind of scientific or pseuo-scientific explanations.
@mountkilimanjaro29822 жыл бұрын
Ideas for South American dinosaurs: The first drawing in Maple White’s book is an Amargosaurus in place of Stegosaurus Challenger shoots down a Tupandactylus in place of Pterodactylus Tupandactylus steals the crews dinner the night before they scale the plateau Malone first encounters a Notoceratops in place of Hypsilophodon The crew first encounter a family of Kelumapusaura in place of Iguanodon (and notice how they walk on all fours and not on two legs) The crew encounter Argentinosaurus in place of the Brontosaurus The crew discovers a nesting area of Tupandactylus near the volcanic vents and the crew is attacked The camp gets attacked in the night by a Carnotaurus in place of Allosaurus Carnotaurus fights and kills an Ojoceratops in place of the Agathaumus Malone finds the lake with the Amargosaurus, along with two Glyptodonts and a family of Columbian Mammoths in place of Megaloceros Malone is chased into the pit trap by Giganotosaurus also in place of Allosaurus The native village is attacked by two Giganotosaurus The crew brings back a live Tupandactylus as proof of their discovery Many of these dinosaurs would be misnamed because many of them were not discovered back in 1908.

Dude, I would *love* to see a modern take on the Arthur Conan Doyle 'Lost World' adaptation. The 1925 silent film is an influential classic, but I still find the 2001 BBC film more re-watchable. I don't even wanna get started on the 1960 version with monitor lizards and crocodiles! But I fear that with so many remakes/reboots today, most audiences might not take kindly to that proposition, even if it is well made and well marketed. I especially love your casting of Richard Armitage as Professor Challenger. Personally, I would cast a great British thespian like Hugh Laurie or Colin Firth as Summerlee, and maybe Nicholas Hoult as Malone but Harrington would be good too. For the role of John Roxton, I would love to see Tom Hardy as a larger than life hunter. A good mix of animatronics and CGI would be ideal, set in dark and fog-covered jungles with an eerie atmosphere. I wouldn't really mind which dinosaurs are chosen, but I would say that they can't look too modern: a feathered T. rex would not sit well in a classic 1920s adventure film. But would Ridley Scott be interested in such a film project? Hard to say, when he's invested in a project it shows, like in The Martian, but when he phones it in it really shows.

Since there wasn't a lot of fossils found at South America at the time the book was written and since then a lot of fossils were found by now. There's quite the potential in having a Lost World adaptation with just South American species. A few of many species would be Carnotaurus, Giganotosaurus, Argentinosaurus, Purrusaurus and Titanoboa. And there were also land crocs and terror birds. I also think it'd be cool is all the prehistoric critters looked at least fairly accurate.

If Richard Artimage and Kit Harrington led a Lost World movie like that Id round out the cast with Pedro Pascal as a South American explorer, Emilia Clarke as Kit’s love interest, Benedict Cumberbatch as Roxton, and Adwale as an allusion to a certain character in the book but removing all the racism. Like hes a lot smarter than the other characters and more heroic even.

Indeed. It wouldn't be believable in the XXI century with the technology we have today (besides, it would look like a JP ripoff), but the original victorian setting from the novel fits perfectly. There were still undiscovered corners of the world back then, and a fascination for primitive and remote lands. Besides, it would be cool if they go the 2005 King Kong rout: a lost land about to dissapear due to geological activity, so it dissappears shortly after the main story.

1. Don't pick Fox. Fox is a terrible choice to make The Lost World. They already fucked up in 1960 and in 2013 by dubbing over the Dinosaurs in the Walking with Dinosaurs movie. 2. Don't you DARE make The Lost World a horror movie! Don't. You. DARE!!!! Do you WANT to shit on Doyle's grave like the terrible 1998 insult of a film did!? DO YA?! Dinosaurs are already scary enough, no need to piss off paleontologists. 3. Get a paleontologist who ISN'T Jack Horner to consult with for the film. 4. Don;t have Ridley Scott direct the film, he's pretty hit and miss these days. I mean, Robin Hood, Prometheus, and Exodus aren't really looked well upon by filmgoers. My opinion, pick and up and coming director, someone new, someone who can make a name for himself by directing a Lost World remake. 5. Do NOT have a dinosaur rampage through London, it's been done to death. Plus, Challenger wouldn't be STUPID enough to bring something that dangerous back to London. Unlike Carl Denham, he's a scientist, not a showman. Just have the ending from the book where a pterosaur escapes. 6. Agathaumus wasn't a real dinosaur, so don't use it.
@baranguirus7 жыл бұрын
Hewy Toonmore About some of the points; 3- I'd prolly get someone like T.M. Backer as the consultant paleontologist. 5- I think a rampage through London could be done if they did something new with it; imagine if they took a creature to the zoo, where it would escape and release more animals as it wreaked havoc. 6- With the Agathaumas... I would "cheat" by having it be an evolved ceratopsian, and making the rest of the Plateau's creatures slightly evolved too.
@jackmills77587 жыл бұрын
The 1998 film failed because its poorly executed, its not because its a horror film. Back in the very early 1900's the audience wants entertainment. They want thrills and fun. What if they were to make a tour or a event to showcase a large Allosaurus? think about the money grossing if it were to happen! but it's also to prove a point that dinosaurs still exist.
@kevinobill48187 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, the whole dinosaur aspects still be birds and we need a British Paleontologist or a new American one like Phil Currie, Kent Carpenter or maybe Phillip Manning. The Agathaumas will not be appear in this film but I have an Idea that this dinosaur will be appeared in my futuristic film called "Godzilla Farou Island" an upcoming monsterverse movie after the events of Godzilla V Kong and to give you an idea that does Godzilla live on an Island and is that Island His home similar to Skull Island filled with Ice age Mammals, Giant Reptiles ( both land, air and sea), Birds, Fishs and of course the Dinosaurs? That was my idea of my future film and I think this is a perfect combination of the Kaiju film.

Agathaumus can be a new species of ceratopsian. Have you ever heard of speculative evolution? If peter jackons can get away with it in his King Kong remake, then why not. 4. I’m actually developing my own novella “remake” of “The Lost World” set in modern day times. The World itself is in the Bermuda Triangle and is sorta like “Lost” with prehistoric creatures (haven’t seen the original movie, but I definitely will as it is free on KZbin). Here’s what I have for ideas: Company: Okay, granted, I started working on this as a novella, but this is a hypothetical scenario, so rights go either to Fox or Universal Director - Jordan Vogt-Roberts or Jon Favreau Cast: Jeremy Irons or Ben Kingsley as Challenger Martin Freeman as Malone Lee Pace or Hugo Weaving as Lee I don’t really bother with appearances lol Effects: WETA Digital Creatures: Instead of using T. rex and Velociraptor and whatnot, I’m going for a bit more realistic route in that the animals have been evolving into different species. I got a whole list of the fauna lol. For example, instead of T. rex, there’s a carcharodontosaurid called Diablodraco caesar (Emperor devil dragon). In addition to dinosaurs, other prehistoric reptiles and mammals will be included. Score: This category I added myself, seeing as though scores are really important to me lol. Anywho, only one man for the job... Michael Giacchino ;)
@dondragmer24124 жыл бұрын
Commendable ideas. Note though, that the Latin for "emperor" is "imperator," not "caesar." It is a common misconception that Julius Caesar was the first emperor. He was not. He was the last of the official dictators of the Roman Republic. The first emperor was Octavian, who named himself Augustus Caesar, thereby setting the precedent for all subsequent emperors of the new Roman Empire to call themselves "Caesar."

Hounstly when it comes to dinosaurs and other creatures that inhabit the plateau I don't think they should do too well known dinosaurs such as Tyrannosarus or any larger raptor species not just because those are too overused but also those animals never existed in South America during the late Cretaceous because there was no land bridge between North and South America at the time. I would go for something close to the novel and have some prehistoric animals that where featured. Like for the main predatory antagonist dinosaurs we go for is the Jurassic carnivore allosaurs because that was the main antagonist dino in the novel as well as the 2001 TV film and some what 1920s film despite there was also a T-rex. But you could make a exception and go against the novel and use the more unique Carnotarus because that is an animal that we have fossilized evidence that did inhabit South America during the Cretaceous. It also be interesting to see 1920s British explores reaction to carnotarus because fossilized remains of the dinosaur where not discovered until the 1980s.

I'm gonna do it. Have no idea how I'm gonna get funding, but Im gonna do it. All dialogue, creatures, and a large number of incidents, shall be ripped straight from the book; the script will be a copy of the book, with slight alterations and embellishments. Brian Blessed, should his health permit, will play Challenger (unless anyone could possibly think of a more worthy, vivacious choice), alongside Sam Neill as Summerlee, Taika Waititi as Roxton, and Robert Pattinson as Malone. Filming will take place within Australia (assuming the role of South America) and New Zealand (assuming the role of the plateau). The creature effects will largely be practical animotronics, with limitied, if any, CGI, achieved by WETA Workshop. The apemen will NOT be recycled Orcs. As for remaking the mediocre 1925 picture, at the end of the book, Roxton proposed to go back to the plateau in search of precious stones, and there lies the promise of a sequel, a sequel that was never written, and could well be compelling. Thus, "Return To The Lost World" shall be the true remake of the 1925 picture, following most of the same incidents to the letter, save that the aspect of stone hunting, the advancement of the apemen, and dinosaur poaching will be ggreatly expounded upon. The filming will take place in the Antipodes, but will also extend over to Java in the sequences within a "world within" wherein Roxton and Co. will proceed on their hunt for stones. No need to worry about some highfalutin robberbaron spitting out an inferior imitation, for this story deserbes the best, and non one in my experience seems to know it better than myself. Believe me, it will happen.

if i may say something as someone for whom the lost world is one of two most loved novels, the other bing dracula: 1: thus far the 1925 version is the most faithful to the novel, althought the bbc is pretty decent. 2: the most important aspect of such a remake is faithfulness to the novel. the greatest current obstacle for dinosaur movies today is scientific accuracy. dinosaurs are related to birds, and many are believed to have feathers. would that be compatible with the vision of them from 1912? 3: the novel has women only in a marginal role, which is why hollywood always created new female roles for it's film adaptations. eityher they choose to be faithful to the novel, or create a convincinf female lead- someone should first and foremost study the novel. 4: i wonder if we'll ever get to see the crichton jp novels adapted faithfully for once, perhaps as a tv series?

Honestly, with the 2001 BBC miniseries why would anybody want a big budget Lost World film? The BBC series is about as perfect as it gets and a Hollywood blockbuster would only fuck things up with feminism and the diversity quota and all that.

I wouldn’t mind a remake the original is a classic but it’s not perfect so I honestly wouldn’t mind if they did

I'm in. I'd like it to take place in 2012. 100 years after challengers expedition to the lost world. I'm hoping it to have the descendants of challenger, summerlee, mr malone and everyone else do the same thing their ancestors did. I'll hook with you on gmail if you're interested.

He should look like Charlton Heston, or Michael Rennie, or Basil Rathbone. I am thinking Daniel Day-Lewis (but I'm sure he's too expensive and wouldn't do it anyway). Tom Hiddleston, roughened up a bit, would be fine. And there are some other eagle-nosed actors, Brits mainly, whose names I can't think of at the moment.

Daniel Day Lewis is retired, I think.

The plural of "dino" is "dinos." No apostrophe. What is it with this rampant error of inserting an apostrophe just because a singular word ends in a vowel? Especially if it ends in "o?"

Jurassic Park 2 is the loose remake of Lost World. Doing a direct remake would be seen as a Jurassic Park cash in. The market is oversaturated with dino films.

the remake maybe take place in the 1920s or 2017
@Jacobhull046 жыл бұрын
I think it should be made by at least 2025. 100 years after the first movie. Like an anniversary special. It takes place in 2012. 100 years after challengers expedition to the lost world.

here's how I rank the lost world films, 1925 and 2001 film great, 1992 film and sequel decent ,1960 film not bad, live action and cartoon series okay, 1998 film f#cking atrocious with the exception of one good actor, king of the lost world 2005 even more atrocious nothing good about it no seriously not one good thing about it. that's my opinion and list hopefully you will agree.

King of the Lost World is a much worse film than the 1998 Lost World by far!

One thing about dinosaurs. If you wanna make this movie serious you can´t just take few random dinosaurs. 65 milions years of evolution make wierd things with animals. And isolated places like island or, in this case, plateau made stuff even wierder. In order to do so should people making this remake hire someone for invented new dinosaurs. For this I propose Joschua Knüppe, Mark Witton, C.M. Kösemen, John Conway and Darren Naish. Another thing is apemen in South America also doesn´t make sense. I suggest two alternative solution: change location to Africa or (which I prefer) replace their role with sapient dinosaurs.
@dondragmer24124 жыл бұрын
Sapient humanoid dinosaurs is an intriguing idea. Or the ape-men could be convergently evolved anthropoid creatures from capuchin or howler monkeys.
@dondragmer24124 жыл бұрын
Good ideas. Yes, 65 million years is plenty of time for new dinosaurs to evolve.

Will I guess the reboot monster movies for Universal Pictures was a hit. like the two of my first science fiction movies was The Invisible Man, and The Lost World will not only that I was gonna make more monster movies where King Kong, Godzilla, Dracula, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, the Mummy, and the Wolfman with the reboot Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman movie, and the reboot King Kong vs. Godzilla movie, and instead it was called House of Frankenstein or House of Dracula it was called Frankenstein Meets Van Helsing even though like Willis O’Brien, Ray Harryhausen, Steven Spielberg I also do to make dinosaur movies like besides the reboot The Lost World movie are Journey to the Center of the Earth, Off on a Comet, and Valley of the Mist, with the reboot Valley of Gwangi, and the Land Unknown.
