In my opinion this is an even better love story than Romeo and Juliet. The characters are wonderful, the story is epic and the music always fills me with feelings of both romance and sadness.

When I was in the 8th grade in 1992, I had a teacher who would teach his students about Titanic every April. This is how I learned about Titanic and have been fasintated with it since

This movie was so majestic and touching. I really rooted for Rose and when she decided to opt for Jack (and indeed herself) I was totally onboard. This affects me so much because my wife was my "Jack" and I was hers. You can see her becoming more empowered and emulating what Jack represented. The final part where they pan across the nightstand to show the life she had after making a series of fateful decisions really brings on the waterworks. I really also liked how they brought the ship to life again when old Rose goes back down there (dead or not; mostly likely dead).

Thank you for not bashing this movie. Titanic is one of my favorite films, and I hate how it's become a trend to hate on it.

People complain about the romance scene but frankly this is how people connected to the tragedy through two fictional lead. Tragedy happened around the world everyday, if you can't connect to the character , there is no way people will care about the tragedy. James Cameron does his best to get people emotionally attached to the real figure through a love story

This is a good review. I find it appalling that people don't have any respect for the souls of the 1500 people that died and want the Titanic raised. What are your thoughts about that?

This was the most important important film in Russia during the 90s,because it revived our mostly dead cinematograph and put the new beginning. In My country when Titanic was annonced on TV it was considered by many as an event. Many russian people like this movie very much(even our men like it) and consider it one of the greates films of all time. We heve our own top250,which is some kind of alternate to your IMDB ,where Titanic is put on 42 place. This film is a huge part of my childhood aside with Star Wars,LOTR trilogy and many other wonderful movies.

Did you ever think that the genius of James Cameron makes you bias, wanting more of other characters?? Titanic is about Rose and Jack trying to survive the sinking of the Titanic... during and after

Movies like this are not made anymore. This film uses extensive practical effects to recreate the sets and sinking. Today filmmakers would use CGI exclusively. James Cameron built sets and actually sank them into a giant tank that’s why it looks so real. This may be the most technically sophisticated film ever made which is impressive considering technical films rarely end up being great movies. Calling it now..... Titanic will never be reproduced in film. People will be watching this film a century from now and it will still be beloved.

Yes, the movie was way too long. James Cameron had cut over many scenes, which you can see on KZbin or buy the DVD set which features the cut out scenes. One cut out scene was Molly Brown asking for more ice when Titanic passed the iceberg James Cameron tried to make the move as real as possible and about 90% of the movie is true of the events that actually happened on April 14-15, 1912. The water in the Atlantic Ocean was around 29 degrees, which is 3 degrees below freezing and so many passengers froze to death in the Atlantic Ocean when Titanic sank. I don't know how cold the water was on the movie set, but of course they had to film at night because Titanic sank at night

Here’s how I would handle caledon’s demise. He is chasing after jake and rose with a harpoon but as he is chasing them a group of sharks attack the people in the water. Jake and rose are trapped in a room where the water is rising up at the bottom. As caledon is about to kill them, jake grabs the harpoon breaks the sharp piece of and stabs him in the shoulder causing him to scream in pain which attracts a few shark’s attention. Jack then punches caledon of the side of the edge and falls in the water and the sharks come in through a hole and attacks him as he tries to fight back he is over powered by the sharks as he brutally devoured by the sharks and dragged under water leaving only his blood and body parts behind.

I heard that Fay Wary turned down the role of old Rose and she had this to say I think to have done ‘Titanic’ would have been a tortuous experience altogether. I feel good about where my life is, now. I feel free and joyous and happy and more liberated than I have ever been.

After Aliens, this is by far my 2nd favorite James Cameron film & one of my all time favorite movies. Having an absolute obsession with the Titanic already helps but this is one of the most prestigious films and the accuracy to the real event is as close as anyone can get

The captain and Thomas Andrews actually both jumped off the bridge during Titanic’s final plunge. Edward Smith never died in that room and Thomas didn’t die in the first class lounge room. Murdoch never shot himself. So as a film it was good, but some things they got wrong.

maybe the crash of 29 made them unable to afford shooting Billy Zane's death, Or the increasing budget, or they forgot, or they just didn't shoot it. Oh well regardless of what happened his death was anti climatic.

Nah, that would have taken away from his character. Jack was symbolic for all the people full of hope dying way too young..into their "maiden voyage" if you will. Also they needed to be roughly the same age for it to be a relationship with an equal power dynamic, or else it would have been too reminiscent of her fiance

How? That’s not possible. There’s no more story to tell. It’s perfect as a standalone film. Where else could you go from there? Unless, you’re wishing for an adaptation of the sinking of the HMHS Britannic, Titanic’s sister ship, that’s a terrible idea. If you’re wishing for a Britannic movie from James Cameron, that would be the closest you’ll get to a sequel.
