This is why I get tested regularly. When I told my friends I was getting my first STI test they looked at me oddly. I wasn’t worried about having an actual STI, it was the point of getting into the routine of getting regularly tested. Not only that but I thought it would be good to get it out of the way now, so if an emergency was to arise, I would know the procedure and in general, just be a bit calmer. I also got tested around the time I became official with my boyfriend. Either way, I’m super glad I did it and I will continue to do so every year, despite the odd comments

“Casual sex is an important part of being single”. I feel like by using the word important here you’re almost shaming those that are single and not having casual sex. If you’re single you can do what the hell you want and shouldn’t have to feel like what you’re doing is wrong. Just a thought....

Since I only had "relationship sex" I always had the opposite feeling, that casual sex is the magical type of sex. Like it's so wild and hot and just woowww! But I just don't think that would be something for me. To each their own I guess.

I was extremely lucky here in Portugal because in the school's I was in, the sex education was great. We had our school's concelour talk to us about consent, feeling comfortable/ready, the classic banana, of course, and she invited us to her office for any advice we needed or any questions we didn't feel comfortable asking in front of the class, and even if we needed condoms (this was in seventh grade). Then in high school we had a more serious discussion about domestic violence, rape in relationships, sex as a way with coping with pain, and most my teachers were open to any worries we might have had.

Ana Carolina Rodolfo sex as a way of coping with pain? That is incredible, I wish I’d learnt about that! And rape within relationships, would’ve saved me one hell of a 2017!

skyrimdragon yes that’s why birth control is soooo important I know it’s not 100% but many many girls go years without ever having an unplanned pregnancy so those are good odds it’s extremely rare when you use your birth control correctly

I think when it comes to anyone who is underage, as in before the age of 18, a good rule of thumb is 'don't send/post/say things you don't want your parents hearing/seeing/reading', as putting things online can make someone particularly vulnerable, at that age especially. But it doesn't necessarily apply to adults tbh! It's a standard I kind of lived by when I was young, even though I didn't know I was living to that motto. Personally think the Internet is a more dangerous place now? Idk?
@queenlucysroyalmaid1

Also, side note: I was not mainstreamed as a disabled youngster. I was in a school specifically for disabled children, and provided NO sex education. This has SO MANY ISSUES. I think disabled people are in a position where they need consent discussions as a PRIORITY.

@kcv0605

Sex doesn’t create a long term emotional bond in itself. It’s just a mechanical act. If you’re having sex with someone you find physically attractive or that somehow turns you on, but that’s it, then there’s nothing about sex that will *automatically* elicit psychological bonds. The release of oxytocin post-orgasm isn’t a magic button, and it isn’t everlasting. People often bind incredibly tightly and passionately with people *without* having yet had sex with them. Sex can be incredibly bonding, but whether or not it is is dependent on a variety of factors, one of which is basically chance. The short version is that having sex can and very often does strengthen existing emotional bonds, but it doesn’t actually create them in itself.

I want to add something at 6:08 : Not everyone thinks this way. A lot of my friends believe sex is like half of the relationship, sometimes more, sometimes less, which is obviously absolutely fine. Whoever it can seem a bit difficult to find someone who also thinks it's just a "nice addition".

@soymilksweetheart
@soymilksweetheart 6 жыл бұрын

I think HPV is just as common in the UK but literally no one talks about it. We get an HPV vaccine at school but it is only for the main cancer causing strains - most people still have HPV without knowing!
@eleanorecn

What is hpv?
@elba2666
@elba2666 6 жыл бұрын
human papilloma virus - its a largely undetected virus spread from skin to skin contact (condoms won't necessarily protect you, hence why so many people have it and often don't realise). Some strains appear as genital warts (which we are taught more about than hpv itself - in the UK at least). And some strains cause cervical cancer, which is why there is a vaccine!

I’ve never understood why being single is a bad thing????? Like why do ppl look down upon single ppl???? why if you didn’t date when u were a teenager is that considered bad??? Why if you’re in your twenties and you’ve never had a long term relationship is that bad???? If you’re 23 and you’ve had 2 long term relationships but are single now then why tf are you somehow better or more mature than someone who hasn’t and is single??? Y’all are both still single LOL. Idk I’m just over what the general public think. Why be in a relationship if it’s not gonna be amazing?? Don’t be scared of being single, be scared of being in a shitty relationship!!!

I do enjoy it alot, and I'm in on the pill atm which is making me have a higher sex drive, but alot of the time after we do stuff I get kinda anxious about it. Girl, if you'd only know how sex education looks in Poland. Oh well, wait. Sorry - there is no sex education here. When you compare it to uk or usa for example, sex education in polish school is a one, huge joke. In middle school all I heard on the lesson called "Rasing to live in family" (yep, that's how its called) was that we shouldn't use any kind of birth control CAUSE IT'S BAD. Now I'm in high school and we don't have ANY lesson on the topic (except the one time when our teacher told us that 'holidays start, hormones are in the air so we shouldn't go to bed with anyone and come back to school with a bump, but also there was some girl who graduated pretty well and she was pregnant so generally that's fine...') Thanks for the video, it's really great!

ok, so, idk if this is weird, but for some time I've been questioning my sexuality, concretely whether I might be asexual, since I am not only uninterested but entirely repulsed by sex and don't even really get when a guy is "hot" and stuff like that. but I'm only fifteen, so there's always the thought of "maybe I'm just a late bloomer", so I just wanted to ask: when did you guys start to experience sexual attraction or how did you generally feel about sex at my age?

I think it is GREAT that you talk about sex. A lot of the things you mentioned made me really nervous when I was younger as well. I especially like how you worded things, it felt very inclusive and positive to me. One thing I noticed: around 3:46 you said "If you have a womb you could get pregnant and anyone could catch an STI." I think you should have added that if you have a penis and testicles you could get someone pregnant. It otherwise really shifts the responsibility to the person who is able to become pregnant. Of course, the weight of the responsibility often IS put on the person that is/can become pregnant, but it definitely shoulnd't be. If someone is able to impregnate another person, they have to be equally as responsible, careful and thoughtful about it. Thanks for the great video, I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next one!

It's really important to be safe and test for STIs, but I also think we stigmatise STIs way more than other kinds of infections. Most of them are treatable, also even if you've only had one partner or you've had 100 you may get one or not. And I feel like we shame people a lot for STIs instead of letting people know that you're not "dirty" for having one and it's not a shame you need to carry. My partner has herpes, it comes and goes but he takes antiviral medication when it comes on we use condoms then. I've never had any symptoms of herpes, although I likely have it since I've been with him for 6 years. It's not a big deal, it's fine. Does he wish he didn't have to deal with it? Or course. But it's honestly not a big issue and he felt really ashamed of having a break out when we first started dating.
