Going to rant..... People get married for the wrong reasons, and to the wrong spouses, all the time. But they have genuine intentions. I find the idea of a fake marriage for clout and money extremely offensive. It’s mockery. First, marriage is a sacred institution in virtually every religion. Second, the right to love and marry in secular society has never been a given. Gay marriage has only been nationally recognized in the USA for less than 5 years; gay couples fought for decades for equal rights and respect that marriage affords. Under slavery rules black people were not allowed to marry. And interracial marriage was illegal in many states until 1967 when the US Supreme Court ruled on Loving v Virginia. Whether you believe in marriage as a personal choice (I don’t think marriage is a necessity for individuals or even couples) I believe getting married just because you want views and ratings is akin to hate speech on the beliefs of others. It is simply disgusting to treat marriage as a disposable commodity and shows a lack of a social conscience and respect for others. If this marriage is fake, I think every civil rights group should speak out.

As a person in a same-sex relationship, who remembers sobbing the day that marriage equality was passed in the US in all 50 states, I hate fake marriages.
