The Archer for me is all about self sabotage. It's about having a perception of yourself that maybe you're not worthy and you don't deserve the love the others give to you. It's about the constant struggle (or 'combat' if you prefer) between knowing that and still do things in order to push that love away. But it's also about finding something real and ask for help in order to not repeat the same mistakes again.

This. Taylor's songs so often have the bittersweet beauty of being so layered in the situations they could apply to, too. But then "Cruelty wins in the movies, I got a hundred thrown out speeches I almost said to you." It made me think of the silence she took in the time after the Kanye drama and before Reputation. Or the silence about her split from Tom. So many times she's opted for silence rather than putting the truth out there, which many would have perceived as cruel.
