I've played on both PC & PS1, mostly PS1 though. I have love for both, PC for the better graphics and expansions, PS1 for the easier intuitive controls. Now that the Steam version lists full gamepad compatibility (PS4 controller support)& I get a 20% discount for owning the original Steam versions I guess I'll be sticking to PC.

Same here. I've played the steam version a bit but never done the expansions. Only ever fully played the games on PS1 or my PS3 digital copies. Never played 5 actually and was trying to play 3 again but the darkness on PS was really just getting irritating. Cannot wait to have controller compatible PC versions of these games with proper resolution and crispness. I'll play them all with the HD graphics though, I think. Played through them all enough times. I've played 1 and 2 pretty much every year since I was 4.

Maybe if this is a success they'll do the LR and Chronicles. I hope they seriously consider a remake of AoD. Imagine that. A story based game like that continued as long as it was supposed to be with modern graphics and lighting, it'd be so good. You could have the Sanitarium like some Outlast tier shit. Honestly would be great.

If they are doing it because they seriously want to unify the timeline, they'll need to make 4-AOD accessible somehow. AOD would also be the latest story so any new game would naturally have to be a prequel or continue on from AOD.

I don't care what other people think. I'm so happy to see the return of the real Lara Croft and I hope this collection succeeds so a message can be sent that people want the real Lara Croft back. No weird reboots that butcher the character for the sake of a writer's therapy sessions about her dad.

I agree. I love seeing emotional depth added to characters, but I signed on for Lara being a gun-toting badass with a hint of sexual energy. She's like the original Bayonetta, and that's the character I want to see back. Maybe its not the most 'mature' or 'realistic' depiction of her, but it's what she was originally designed to be.

This feels like a minor miracle- and it's genuinely interesting to see how much fate genuinley seems to have played a role in this being a thing. Aspyr were originally the team behind the Knights of the Old Republic Remake (announced in 2021) - but they were taken off that project in 2022 & it reportedly moved to another company after Aspyr seemingly got out of their depth on it. Around the same time, we got reports that Crystal Dynamics, who had previously been "helping out" on Xbox's Perfect Dark Reboot while at Square Enix, had been promoted to lead on that project. And then, Embracer signed an agreement for Amazon to publish the next Tomb Raider game from CD (along with funding additional Games & Films of Tomb Raider) - were Amazon happy with the direction of CD's project? - Or did they have their own vision for the franchise across different media? Either way it seems easy to see how these events could have easily seen the CD Tomb Raider getting pushed back (both to refocus the game to align with Amazon's vision for the franchise & to account for additional development resources going into Perfect Dark). Couple all of this with the fan community raising questions about the Underworld DLC being brought to other platforms (after Xbox confirmed they only had a timed exclusivity right to that content) around the time Embracer first acquired Tomb Raider & Crystal Dynamics - to the point were the community manager at the time came out to say there wasn't any development resource to port anything, but Embracer certainly heard the message and kept it in mind. If all of those thing's hadn't happened, it's possible these Tomb Raider Remasters wouldn't have been put into production in the first place. It was potentially a case of Embracer having a team (who are experienced at porting / remastering) unexpectedly finding themselves with nothing in production & a need for the group to keep Tomb Raider in the public eye while Crystal Dynamics worked on Perfect Dark - they knew fans wanted certain products to be unlocked from specific platforms only, and had a team looking for a project. Finally, we need to consider that if Aspyr had lost Knights of the Old Republic a year later, they could well have been shut down given Embracer's current financial predicament. Proper "threading the needle / stars aligning" type coincidence for this to exist - hopefully now this does well & Aspyr are allowed to bring other Tomb Raider games to different platforms (by remastering / porting) - Last Revelation & Chronicles, Angel of Darkness, Legend Anniversary & Underworld (including DLC's) - the way I see it that's 3 more projects, to fit between gaps in releases made by the Crystal Dynamics - Amazon partnership. A bit like how Capcom handle Resident Evil.

It's primarily the fact that you've got the 3 games ported to current gen consoles with either the original or updated graphics, probably lots of issues like the inability to play multiple sounds at once smoothed out, lighting in TR1 heavily improved and obviously the improved character models which is cool to see what the NPCs were meant to look . It also gives every fan on every console the chance to play the three expansions. I've never played them as I was always on PS1 but now look, I can play them on anything. XBOX, PS4, PS5, Switch or PC.

As a kid when these games came out I couldn't get a good handle of the controls, I went back to them a few years ago and practiced until it clicked - now I can say I absolutely love everything about them, the methodical and deliberate movement is so satifiying, paired with really well designed grid based levels makes for an experience I haven't found from any other game. Suffice it to say I LOVE OG TOMB RAIDER and I'm HYPED for these remasters!

I think the reason is that these games are all level based. Last Revelation is a much more openended and thus they need to figure out how to program the game so that we can explore the entire areas together without having them segmented into different loading areas. If they ever gonna end up doing that I think is gonna be absolutely incredible

TR 2 was my very first pc game, played in the very 1st pc we owed. I got to know TR 1 when I was visiting my cousin and he had rented it for his PS. So, it's going to be nice to play all the extra stuff I've still got the CDs for, without having to borrow a CD reader from a friend. As for playing it "legally"... sure is good! But since I own every physical copy of it, I never thought I was doing anything wrong, tho...

It looks cool, but also I'm sort of worried about the environments. Big blocky areas fit well with low res textures and big blocky characters/creatures. It was due to limitations, but it's also an aesthetic, now more than back then. Some areas work reasonably well (a room is naturally squared, it works), but I find some stuff jarring, like the very geometric rock ramp with dynamic lighting and the smooth, curvy high res Lara and snowcat in the TR2 screenshot. And I fully understand why you cannot change that without basically amking a whole different game, because the blockiness of the environment is tied to the control scheme.

I've been hoping this would happen at some point. Been playing the original Tomb Raider games on a PS Vita which turns out to be near impossible at times due to the poor controller layout. My PS2 has packed up and I only really use my PC for work so seeing these being released on modern systems is a godsend.

Here's my wishlist for these remasters: *Tank controls so faithful to the original games, that I can play the levels using muscle memory as if nothing has changed. I don't want input lag ruining my fun like in Crash N'Sane Trilogy. *Appropriate sound effects for when Lara runs barefoot on The Deck in TR2. This always bothered me in the original game. *More stable handling on the snowmobile in TR2. That thing could go crazy in the original game if you weren't careful. *Fix the "you should have picked Nevada first" problem in TR3. *Additional cutscenes in TR3 to flesh out the story. I believe the original game suffered from time constraints during development in that regard. Bring back Judith Gibbins to voice these cutscenes. *Improve the awful controls of the kayak in Madubu Gorge. *Improve the sound effect for when Lara pulls the giant plug in Madubu Gorge. *Increase the availability of ammo for some weapons in TR3; particulary the rocket launcher. *Fix the invisible wall bugs in Lud's Gate in TR3. *Reduce the amount of wasps that spawn in Lost City of Tinnos in TR3...by a lot.

Dirty lil' confession: I have never truly finished the first 2 TR games, even though TRII was the game that got me into gaming at age 11. Excited to finally play them to completion instead of using step left, step right etc. I am grateful for that cheat code, though. TR4 and 5 weren't included most likely IMHO due to technical differences, TR1-3 use basically the same engine so you can easily port and remaster all 3 games in one go, where as TR4-5 use completely different engine so they'd have port and remaster them separetly from scratch.

This is so exciting. I’m loving everything I’m seeing, but I wish there was some proper cover art. There seems to be no key art and they’re just using the logo as the cover on all storefronts. I would also think physical copies would be up at announcement too. But there isn’t anything. So a lack of key art and no pre orders for physical leads me to believe there isn’t anything, which is a shame. I’m still excited though. Just wish we could’ve gotten some new art ):

I have played Unfinished Business, Golden Mask & Lost Artifact on PC but to finally play them on a console will be a dream come true and I will have to get this on the Switch as I don't have a PS4 or PS5 but as I am planning to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Uncharted 4 and Uncharted Lost Legacy I will need to get a PS5. I played Temple of Osiris for the very first time on Switch and I enjoyed it so much.

Regarding the FMV Cutscenes. Nightdive completely redone the Quake 2 and Star Wars Dark Forces openings with their InGame Engine "Kex Engine" If something like this could be done for TR it would be amaizing

As an old guy who played TR 1 in software with a S3Trio, then with a Voodoo1, and later the great Ati CIF port for modern computers, I want :) But manytimes, those old games look better while playing them "period correct". That's why I love the Ati port CIF, it's still TR1. Too often, they change textures, and even if it's nice, it's not the original game any more.

It might sound ridiculous, but one thing I really _hope_ they sneak in is the first person mode from OpenLara. It sounds bonkers until you try it, but I loved it. A bit like playing Mirror's Edge in a way. Felt like a totally new way to experience a game I love, and very surprisingly it didn't make me feel sick at all. The way they did it was just perfect really

This is the best news of the day for me as when these games originally came out on ps1 I just couldn’t get into tomb raider as they were to hard however now in my 30s I’ve done all crystal dynamics games and all of square Enix tomb raiders I played angel of darkness also and while I liked the basis of that game I didn’t complete it as it was buggy as hell I can’t wait to properly play the original trilogy of tomb raider now I’m a wiser gamer and hopefully this will pave the way for a angel of darkness remaster as it was meant to be with the proper development

So steve, with your comment about Crystal Dynamics running her into the ground and not listening. Is that in regards to the survivor trilogy, or how they ahve basically done nothing but weird crossovers with things like Call of Duty? Or both? The idea that LAU will be ignored does sadden me as I adore that trilogy. The posibility that they remaster/finish AoD though would be huge as the whole nephilim occult angle was soo cool, and the Hall of Seasons might be my favourite puzzle room behind St. Francis Folly.

It just felt like her popularity was kinda dropping off in the public eye since Shadow. All she'd been doing recently is cameoing in other games whilst other 90's icons were getting revived or getting remasters, so it kinda felt like the franchise was in limbo.

@@SteveOfWarr Ah, I'm with you. It did feel like a let down, especially when the 25th anniversary came and went and all their Facebook page put amounted to saying "Happy Birthday". It did feel like a waste of one gamings most famous characters and IP.

I'd assume that if they're still aiming for a unified timeline then they're hoping to remind newer, more casual fans of the series as a whole of the original timeline.

I played the originals back in the day, so the nostalgic part of me wishes for actual tank controls. Then again we‘re not used to tank controls anymore. I hope they don‘t completely change the controls, that wouldn‘t make sense for the game. But I also wouldn‘t mind if they smoothed out the movement a little…

LTTP but when I originally saw this on the Nintendo Direct I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing. Classic Tomb Raider fans have been shafted for years since Core's demise and finally we are getting exactly what we wanted. I'm over joyed that even console fans are FINALLY able to play the PC exclusive Gold levels. I'll be picking this up on Switch and Steam for sure. Tomb Raider 3 is going to be a feast for the eyes I'm sure, really looking forward to seeing the texture work finally being cleaned up!
