Have you considered a Daihatsu Copen, very stylish for a youngster. Cheap to run and insure but you need the 1.3l Toyota engine for reliability

@ Carbon Buckets works well for me as my wife refuses to drive it and hates being a passenger 😂 they are very comfy though always a special occasion.

I learned the hard way, Richard. Boys are worse. But girls too will crash their first car. Polo is good. Crash protection is strong if you get the mid-20-teens onwards versions. More power I’m afraid probably means a harder hit. I crashed my first bike (though not my first car). If it’d been faster, I wouldn’t have had children 😮

Hi Richard, like you I love my daughter dearly, on that basis I would not buy her a Fiat 500. The weakness with this car is the size, irrespective of air bags how do you think it would do in a big potential crash with a truck or tractor on your country roads? I had a Mini F56 saloon that my daughter used to sit in the rear off,again hardly no real distance to her back seat should we get rear ended. We do a lot of town driving and we like smaller cars so we swopped to a Mini Clubman, now our daughter has moved away we will be going back to the saloon around town. I do have a SUV for long distances and always prefer to take that long distances because of the enhanced view and safety. I know that Fiats are easy to park and insure but safety is always my priority - please think again. A few years ago it was reported by the head of European car safety, when he retired, was that he would never drive his family in a small car as they risk of severe injury is much greater. NET 0 this is a ridiculous flawed policy, a perfect example of this is India have agreed a 200 billion spend over the next 10 years to build 20 new coal fed power stations combined with China and Russian continued building programs for the same coal fed power stations its just total INSANITY that a tiny Country is pushing head long into NET 0 which is doomed to failure, I feel we need to look at this more now than ever and understand its all about money and I fear the public will wake up to late. I would love your thoughts and thoughts of your viewers too and how we bring a halt to this madness.
