I honestly assumed it wouldn't matter if I broke adjacency during that movement as long as I was adjacent when I stopped. It made sense to me that if the monster moved away, it would cancel my attacks, but it seemed kinda silly to me that my attack would end because I stepped out of range even though I moved back in. It seemed kinda useless in most scenarios if breaking adjacency at any point during movement ended the attack. There is also the precedent of pursue where you are able to move back into range to continue your attack after a monster had moved away. Or atleast thats how I've always played it. I saw drawing the extra HL as emphasizing the cruelty of the survivors since that is a big theme in the smog singers fight, which is the only place I've encountered it.

Pursue is worded specifically to avoid this. "Pursue: An effect that allows a survivor to give chase during an attack. Gain movement, which must be spent immediately to move towards the monster. If you are now adjacent, draw another hit location." I also mention the king's man cards, they read; "Turn to face the attacker, then without turning, move the monster 2 spaces directly away from the attacker. If the attacker has King's Step, they may follow the King's Man and move 2 spaces forward. Otherwise, cancel all hits now out of range." There is no need to mention that all hits now out of range are canceled if the rulebook mentions when you check for range. You would know when you reached Step 8 you would check for range. This is the same with knockback during a reaction. When is it the hits are canceled? We now know it would be Step 1. I always played it that knockback instantly canceled the remaining hits. These things have always mentioned when to end hits and attacks. They do so outside of when Taste has informed us to check for range. Had this always been known, these things would not need to be referenced.

@@BraMithra Those are good points, I honestly kind of forgot about the indepth breakdown of the attack phase in the rule book until this video mentioned it and always looked at things from a narrative first standpoint. So if I was knockbacked after wounding a location or if the monster moved away and I didn't have a method to move after them I wound end my attack because that made sense as an interruption to the flow of combat. I guess basically I assumed the correct interpretation not because of my understanding of the rules but because I tend to think of things as narrative first. If something makes sense from a storytelling perspective I don't check the rules unless challenged by someone else.

Last comment from me: how rad would it be if those gear cards were foil 🤩 the BK rulebook has got the premium finish, it would be awesome to have those were differentiated from more common KDM gear cards.

Imagine if boardgames were created by programmers. Coding the board game first - and generating rulebook from the code. You write tests and can read the code to know exactly what the rules mean.

@@BraMithra jokes aside, the problem you're discussing would be obvious if rules were code :P they'd have to be deterministic and cohesive.

I know this is very time consuming for you to do, but would you consider showing the steps on the real gameboard with models? This is just very hard to follow without having a visual representation
@BraMithra8 ай бұрын
I will try to remember to do that next time, or in a rules video, or when I make them and use them.

Tbh this doesn't make any sense ... It makes more sense for the movement to happen after wound attempt either wounds or not. Also... Does consecutive spaces count within the same attack? Or are they counted for each time it triggers during the attack?
@BraMithra8 ай бұрын
The movement needed to gain the bonus is only counted after each wound attempt. So you can repeat squares the next time you move and still stack strength.
@SinamonX8 ай бұрын
Maybe I should have said this is counterintuitive rather than doesnt make any sense. Perhaps I didnt quite follow through , but was this really clarified as happening right after rolling the wound die and not after the "wound the monster step"? Regarding movement of spaces. Havent played with him ... but this is super weird. If the monster doesn't move (except 1x1 monsters) you can stay in the blind spot for all your wonds attempts. I guess this is just one of those quirky things that just happen because.
@BraMithra8 ай бұрын
@@SinamonX Correct, you can always stay in the blind spot. Correct, it is done after making the wound roll, step 3. Correct it was clarified that the wound is done later in step 5. It is quirky lol.
