I agree, I like these intermediate traction tires, they are great for most applications. I'm in central Texas. I had a freakin' assegai tire on my Ibis Ripley V4 and I think it ruined the lightweight characteristics of that bike, I'm thinking a lot of people OVERtire and than pay for it with slower rolling/more tiring to climb.

Wet weather user here. Based partially on your videos, I have settled for an aggressor rear+ dhr 2 front combo on my short travel trail bike. The trails local to me have horrendous amounts of slick wet rocks and roots, with variable density mud puddles, and even in these conditions, this combo conjures up an absolutely unholy amount of downhill confidence. It feels like your bike will just never let go unless you really want it to. It’s pretty easy to get carried away, something I never felt using the stock Bontrager XR4 pair. I set multiple downhill PRs in the worst weather conditions using this combo, and it has never let me down. Climbing traction alao feels great. In these conditions, I find the aggressor both grippier and faster rolling than the dissector it’s about on par with the XR4 it replaced. The rekon is even faster, but it sacrifices large amounts of climbing and cornering traction in the wet. So all things considered, I’m all for the aggressor too - using it in 29x2,3 EXO Dual config, just for reference. The only downside of the aggressor may be that it clogs up with thicker mud easier than a dissector, but way less than a rekon.

I settled on a DHR2 up front and Dissector out back, both 2.4 on my Ibis Ripley. Absolutely loved that combo….at first. I recently noticed my rear end letting loose and/or squirming during aggressive cornering, especially in high speed situations. Upon inspecting the tire (Dissector) I saw that the side knobs were all tearing, which totally explains the drop in performance. The DHR2 still looks almost new. I corner very aggressively with minimal skidding. Disappointing because on the rear the Dissector felt like the perfect combination of rolling speed, weight, and traction for me. I’m thinking of going to either an Aggressor or Rekon on the rear. I’ll be keeping the DHR2 up front.

I have the Rekon on the Following and Aggressor on the Yeti sb5.5. I actually find the Rekon more predictable (and faster) in the foothills but there isn't much difference there. The Aggressor is a little more braapy/steezy on manicured flow and downhill trails like up at Bogus and Tamarack - lets loose in the corners and berms but predictably so. New Enduro came with Specialized Butcher tires both front and rear and I surprisingly don't hate them - they actually hook up quite well on our blown-out trails. At least we're supposed to get some rain this weekend which may help the trails some.

Curious if you'd be able to give a percentage number on how much slower the Aggressor is to the Recon. I've ridden all three as rears (4 if you you count the DHR2), but on different bikes. My "bigger" bike first the Aggressor until it wore out and now a Dissector. I prefer the Dissector on that bike for what I use it for. My new shorter travel bike (Spur) came with a Rekon. Maybe I'm riding it too much like my like my bigger bike but it seems like I'm losing traction far too much on downhill loose/dusty or loose over hard (dry NorCal terrain) - even with 2 psi lower than what I normally run. Never a problem in same areas with other two. I do find it fine on "cleaner", hard packed trails though. Spur is meant to be my long, fast, flowy ride day bike, but if Aggressor isn't too much more draggy, I might put one on. Thoughts?
@dustinbjohnson3 жыл бұрын
Yah you definitely have to ride the rekon a bit different. You can make up time in other ways. I noticed I'm not quite as confident in high speed loose stuff on the rekon. But I can make up time on the pedally flat sections. If I had to guess....I say the aggressor is around 7-10% slower ... not huge difference but noticeable

@glassbarrel3 жыл бұрын
I have ran a lot of tire combinations and he has pretty much nailed it. If you want a fast rolling bike that still hooks up, Aggressor rear Dissector Front is going to be a good hit. If you want more traction use an Assegai up front...just won't roll as fast, but is more predictable. One thing I noticed with the Dissector is it seems to want to stand the bike up when youre leaning into and out of turns. just takes some getting used to.

Really impressed with Vittoria. Agarro 2.6/Agarro 2.35 or Martello/Agarro... Started a new Ripley with Rekon 2.4 MT up front and Agarro is so much better on front or back (Feel, grip, cornering, speed)
