I really like that trapper, the Stagalon reminds me of the covers on an Uncle Henry knife. But I’m like you as far as the double nail pulls go, I say pick one and go with it. Cheers, buddy!

I really appreciate you doing reviews on low end price knives. I have like a lot of knife guys have upper priced knives. I personally like to find a bargain. It’s easy to find great knives at a big price but a little harder to find at a bargain price. So really enjoy your videos on RR knives. So many of these knives are such a bargain at their price point. And again I just love watching your videos on lower priced knives.

Great video Big Red! I'm eyeballing the VG10 Swayback. I may take the scales off & give it a couple of light coats of spray clea-rcoat. I'd use liquid mask on the screw holes so they would get effed up. Then remove it after the clear coat dried. It's only $16. Not like I could hurt it. I may even do some custom painting on it with enamel paint for car models before I seal it with clear coat.

I’ve always fancied the idea of better steel on traditional knives, but I like traditional pinned construction cover materials rather than the aluminium. The RR micarta work knife with a VG10 blade would be great! Copperheads are great. I’ve a few Böker Solingen examples.

I own the Peanut, Canoe and mini Trapper in Tuff Stag and all have excellent fit and finish without any gaps, they were stiff and gritty at first but after oiling they are now great. My pics from yours is Tuff Stag Trapper first then VG10 then Copperhead. I guess I am biased for the Tuff Stag as I always bought the Schrade Uncle Henry's growing up years ago with Staglon handles.

First off, I love your Rough Ryder series. Definitely keep it in the rotation. Second, I love that you are now a copperhead convert! I love the copperhead pattern. I agree that on the trappers that RR does, I prefer one nail nick. I really like the Tuff Stag. The plastic doesn’t feel cheap, which is nice. I like the looks of the Highland series and the VG-10 series, I like the steel but I don’t really care for the covers. I haven’t had one in hand, I may have to just go for it and try one. Thanks JB!

Nice group! I love it when you talk Rough Ryder! I’d say VG-10, then highland, then Tuff stag. I’m hoping for a bone handle on VG-10, but prob won’t want to pay what it’ll cost. Lol. Love a copperhead. Don’t care for the standard trapper. The Tuff stag is okay - it’s like an homage to stag, or maybe a cartoon of stag. Does it feel plastic-y? I have a Marbles with “imitation stag,” and it feels too light, and, well…icky. Keep ‘em coming, JB!

Right off the bat, I like that Tuff Stag box! As for cutting on screen. I gave up. I just can't do it. Off camera, no issues, Roll the camera and it'll snag up every time! How does that VG10 compare side by side to the Work Knife. It looks like the same frame. I'll have to add that one to my wish list but I'm more Forest green and Black. Copperheads beat the snot out of Trappers. But I know plenty of people who will disagree. LOL. I've got one knife in the Highland Series, the lockback. It was rock solid. The red liners really help the handle pop! They really expanded the series since it was first released! I like the Tuff Stag box but plasti-stag is one of my least favorite knife covers. Delrin is a DuPont TM. Unless the thermoplastic is made by DuPont, it isn't Delrin. Chances are it is a similar quality thermoplastic made in China. Schrade USA, Case, and pre-2007 Camillus all used Delrin for their thermoplastic. Staglon - was/is a Schrade TM. Camillus called theirs DuraStag. I like the Rough Ryder "Tuff Stag" name. Top to bottom, VG-10 Tuff Stag (box is number 1) Highland Tuff Stag would be tops if it didn't have the big R. Pattern wise - Sway Back, Copperhead, Trapper. (Trapper will almost always be my last choice knife pattern) LOL. Nice run down JD. Keep up the good work!

Schatt & Morgan knives as well as Queen knives of the past used both nail nick and long pull on some of their blades. One of mine is a reverse gunstock stockman. This however occurs only on the main blade and taking into consideration the S&M pulls are not match strikes, makes them a little less noticeable.

The Tuff Stag is a great looking series, the black liners make the scale pop. Wish they had gone with bone instead of the plastic. The Highland is another good looking series. Rough Ryder does know how to make awesome looking knives and are a ton of fun for the money. VG10 is a great idea, aluminum scales not so much, they give it a Mtechy-gas stationish knife look. The G10 series would have been a perfect fit with better look and feel and still staying modern traditional. Maybe they could drop VG10 in existing series too. I’d love a single blade bow trapper with denim micarta 😍. Thanks for the look at them.

The Tuff Stag looks better than the Chinese Uncle Henry knives. I have 2 Uncle Henry knives from China and I don’t like the feel of their Staglon. This looks better. I will have to get one.

Delrin was actually developed and trademarked by DuPont Thermoplastics back in 1953. I am a huge fan of Delrin, and i like the idea of using it for the scales. However, I find the carving a little cheesy. I prefer the carving they do to the bone scales, like in the Cinnamon bone series.

We all know that the majority of knives are more expensive here in Europe , I’m not complaining… I have 20 RR. Would your opinion change if the RR2202 cost $26 and the RRR012 cost $71? Would love your opinion. Thought of the day “ made for hand , backed by life”😀

Great question! I think the 2202 would still be a good value at $26 based on the blade steel! As far as the RRR012, if the fit and finish is as good as my last few have been....$71 isnt too bad when you take into account import tax and everything!

I like the vast majority of what Rough Ryder makes, but I can’t say that the Tuff Stag series is one of them. I’ve just never been a fan of the stagalon type covers, regardless of maker. It always strikes me a being too obvious that it’s simulated. But, the Highland is a really good looking knife. 👍🏻

It just kills me that RR uses 440A instead of something that will hold an edge longer. They could save money on all the fancy box art & give us some better steel. Maybe some AUS-8, 440c or 1085/95. I'd rather see a $10-15 increase for better steel. Glad they offer D2 & VG10 now.

Delrin is a trademarked name by the manufacturer of that type of plastic, I don't believe Case has anything to do with that name. I have used Delrin alot in fabrication.
