I'm convinced that the purpose of Zeb's cameo was to sell us on Ahsoka. Her appearance in Mando season 2 was great, but the most common feedback I heard was that she works better in CG, and I agree. The armorer telling Bo-Katan to remove her helmet fits in with her metaphor about the forge, while not being the grand forge on Mandalore, it’s still a forge serving the same purpose. So it shows growth for the armorer as well, that she recognizes that a Mandalorian is still a Mandalorian and they are stronger together…regardless of their helmet wearing beliefs…a Mandalorian can walk the Way regardless and they need to walk it together.

Din Djarin will have to go with Bo-Katan on her "door knocking" tour. He does have the Darksaber, and she said in the first episode that thr Mandolorians who left her will follow him because he is in possession of it. He still has it, she has made no attempt to wrest it from him... He will go with her. They have been growing as a partnership, a uniting of the "two worlds" in their person. They have 100% been framed as a developing team.

@Jacob Oh, absolutely. Did you see how they sat after Din finished giving his speech? Not enough space between them for a mouse to squeeze through. Gotta say, I wouldn't feel comfortable sitting *that* close to any man but my husband; for them the physical contact was comfortable and familiar. Also note thar for literally everyone they are "Din Djarin" and "Bo-Katan Kryze," but to each other they are "Din" and "Bo." No one else addresses either of them so familiarly. So that's where I can't get on board with the idea of the narrative focus switching to her, or her becoming the new protagonist of the series. I think we're meant to see them as a pair. At the very least a close partnership, and probably much more than that.

@@ShepCantDance That’s a good observation! I personally was hoping the two of them would be more akin to brother/sister than lovers. Din this whole season has come across as the naive younger brother who pesters his sister, and she helps him out when he gets in trouble. They’re getting close that is for sure. I think Bo was lonely at the beginning of this season with the fact her Mandos left her, and then the CotW welcomed her like one of their own. I think Bo wants a family and perhaps she’s found that now.

I kind of find it interesting that Paz Vizsla near the end of the episode when the armorer comes out with bo-ktan without her helmet on, he looks towards Din instead of accepting the armorers word like he did in the first 2 seasons and the book of Boba Fett even though at points it went against what he thought was the right course of action.

Hey Thor - I believe the hologram showing Gorian Shard speaking was intentional to add some detail that is seen in the real world. The mismatch of audio being spoken from him compared to the movement of his mouth is what we in the video industry call A/V Desync. I work at a software company called Panopto that specializes in audio/video capture, mainly for educational institutions. Usually, in most cases when desync occurs is due to the machine recording the content is resource constrained. So when I saw Gorian Shard speaking and I noticed that desync I so loved the detail of this. I absolutely believe this was intentional as you could probably argue that the cruiser they were in was repurposed and not exactly 'modern'. It seemed pretty clear to me that the desync was true! Another possibility of that desync could be a 'Star Wars' equivalent of a networking issue. Just my two cents :) - Nate

I'm fairly convinced that all this is leading to Thrawn - planting some beskar, a culturally significant artefact, after he recaptures Gideon, is the big draw. If you're listening to the goings-on in the Outer Rim, breeding suspicion between the New Republic and an increasingly active Mandalorian covert is an excellent way to divide and conquer. But also there's Elia, who this episode took an interest in diverting attention from Navaro, and there's also Teva's suggestion that there might be more to Gorian Shard's attack. Thrawn was never above using other species like the Noghri to do his dirty work and spare his troops, and I could totally see this all pointing to someone above Gideon, who planted Elia in the amnesty programme, orchestrated Gideon and Gorian's attacks on Navaro, kidnapped their asset, the Grand Moff, back, and has interest in stealth tactics in the outer rim. Perhaps Thrawn has a specific interest in Navaro, like he did on Wayland or Mykyr in Legends. A lot of time has passed since Rebels, and maybe I'm getting my hopes up, but the evidence so far seems good.

What if Teva’s actions were supposed to come from Cara Dune. While she’s working security for Navarro she gets recruited by the Rangers so she’s how Mando finds out Navarro is being attacked. So Favreau has to rework a lot of what he already had plotted. It would explain why some episodes almost lay a foundation instead of just getting to the story Also I think Grogu was supposed to come back either halfway through this season or maybe the next one. He feels like an extra just hanging around hitting some reactions for the audience to react to, rather than a character with a purpose. It would make more sense for him to have been training with Luke all this time and we get some glimpses here and there. It would have made his return much more impactful

About the helmet off thing. Armorer explained nicely using metafore. At Mandalore forge was for 100 hammers making the sound, it was beautiful and yet there was a simple one and both served the same purpose. That's why she accepted that was the only way to unite the Mandalorians and I actually don't have any problem with it. I can see that Din will go with Bo and wave with the dark sabre. That's how they will unite mandalorians.

When the Armorer and Bo-Katan are talking in the forge room listen to their dialog. The smaller forge serves the same purpose as the larger Mandalore forge. "Retaking Mandalore" is referring to settling Nevarro. The Armorer is interpreting the scriptures(songs) non-literally like Bo-Katan has. Its about being together rather then occupying a planet.

I think Bo-Katan does end up riding the Mythosaur. Din made it clear he has no interest in being a leader. Hell, he's not even the leader of the covert. Paz Viszla and the Armorer are portrayed as the leaders. Bo riding the Mythosaur, an ancient mythical beast talked about in the stories of Mand'alor the Great, would hold more weight as a leader of Mandalore than a 1000 year old lightsaber. This way, Bo and Din don't have to arbitrarily fight for the Darksaber, and instead we can fully immerse ourselves in how the two of them interact with an entire group of Mandalorians. As for the comment about how Episode 5 could've been where we got to by Episode 3; this is a valid point, and I think the most likely explanation for it is the Pershing and Carson Teva story arcs are the leftovers from the scrapped Rangers Of The New Republic storyboard. Yes, it has diluted the story of Din Djarin more than it should have, but I don't think it's detrimental to the series overall. These bits from Season 3 could birth a spiritual successor to Rangers where we get to see Captain Teva and the failings of the New Republic more in depth. I think Season 4 of the Mandalorian is where we start directing Mando's path towards Thrawn in a more personal, direct way.

I remember hearing Jon Favreau saying he's already done with the wirting of season 4 when he was in post prod of season 3, and he mentioned something like the whole season 3 and 4 will be a continuous story, like a whole long season in and of itself. With a little imagination, it's easy to guess where it's all headed, with the whole retaking of Mandalore with Bo Katan as the new leader as the climax of season 3, then season 4 would be the reorginazation of the planet, and either we get back to the adventures of Din and Grogu, only with the new galactic paradigm that he's now pal with Tatooine's crime lord and Mandalore's ruler, or it's gonna be the Space Game of Thrones between all the mandalorian clans. With that all in mind, I'm perfectly ok that the whole first half of the 3rd season is only a buildup, as the end of season 3 is only the "first half" of that Mandalore arc. The longer the buildup, the better the payoff.

The reason that Yoda's flips looked better was because that was entirely CGI generated, back in the day (and that was back when CGI wasn't yet what it is now!). The reality may just be that practical effects have a limit to them. You simply can't have Jedi do some of the things that they can do in animation. And I think last episode demonstrated that.

Regarding the Armorer asking Bo to remove her helmet and all that. I viewed that as a potential and purposeful move by the armorer to lower Bo's status in the eyes of the others. She obviously has a history many of them are, to whatever degree, aware of. She shows up and joins them, leads the hunt to recover the youngling. Now she is given the opportunity to plan and lead the rescue mission against the pirates. So immediately she is showing herself as very capable. However, if the Armorer knows her story and believes that Bo would be a terrible ruler given past examples, maybe she gave the new quest to go gather the tribes and remove helmet as a means of immediately Othering her to the Children of the Watch and for now taking the Mythosaur secret out of the group. She's sent off to presumably gather whoever she can off-screen or maybe even on, while Din and the rest get down to business on Navarro and wherever else their adventures take them this season. During which time I think more of the mandalorians will come to respect Din a lot more. We see an example of that already in how Vizsla has done a 180 with regards to Din, and in this episode you see him looking to Din in one or two scenes before speaking or otherwise reacting, checking first what Din was doing as if to suggest he views Din as the leader - or thats how I took it. Especially the scene where Bo approached the ships without helmet and Vizsla looked to Din. Bo being removed in her search for the tribes also leaves the remaining group, or at least whomever the Armorer opts to tell, to learn of the Mythosaur within the living waters. In the grand accomplishment of seeing the Mythosaaur first, it would still pale in comparison if someone else came along and interacted with it or potentially tamed it, be that Din, Grogu or another. Also I feel like just based off the armor, Din has a more colorful destiny. Bo like all the others have very colored and personalized armors. Din looks like he just came out of the factory, so to speak, and has nothing personal in the display of his armor aside from Mudhorn clan emblem. I reckon he, at the end, will become Mandalore and either still have that same colorless armor (maybe a new helmet though) as a showcase of not belonging to any one tribe but of all, or alternatively will get a new set of armor with color/finally customize his current set in whatever colors and art it'll be to denote the new rulers house and clan.

If it wasn't for Bo-Katan flying after that raptor, the warriors would have no idea where Ragnar was taken. Now with Bo off to gather the other clans, how will the foundlings & the trainers get to Navarro? Interesting that the other youngsters remained safely on the planet, but Din took Grogu with him into the battle. I suspect Grogu was supposed to still be training with Luke but at Disney's insistence forced Jon to reunite Din & Grogu earlier than Jon had planned. Also suspect Pedro actually wasn't on set this season, but filming HBO's Last of Us. In both seasons prior to this one, Din has removed his helmet. But so far, not in this one.

The thing with the Grand Inquisitors was that his species in the movies were NOT CGIed. There’s behind the scenes footage showing actors wearing the head west and clothes. So Disney likely having the documents on how to make the correct face mold for the actor yet deciding on cheap make up for their 90 million fan series of Kenobi says a lot. Also considering Deborah Chow’s role in the uncanon Kenobi show, her being shown in this episode is not a good sign.

Also in my opinion, this was not a great episode. From magically turning a broken droid in the middle of no where into a republic tracker of sorts, to inconsistency in writing. Do not forget everyone for last episode was saying that it did not appear that the Armorer took Bo’s claims of seeing the mythical breast seriously and now she suddenly without evidence treats her as a prophet and allows her to do something considered consistently harem for some reason. As well to my understanding it was implied that the Moff escaped already by episode three, yet here it’s treated as recent. Also on the Nevarro someone pointed out that despite being a sizeable town, it’s shown to have just a handful of people. And somehow this planet magically turned into a utopia without the logical work building behind it. Realistically having a lack of a State with security forces already is a very bad sign, and somehow it was not takeover and exploited by warlords or privates the moment resources were found. This episode was at best Ok or meh. Note: I’m not watching this show and I’m getting my information from online. If you don’t like this show, I strongly suggest you don’t want it. Even critic or hate watching is benefit-able to shows like this that require viewer ship.

Regarding the “Who is the ‘Mandalorian’ of the title?” thing, my guess the that the Armorer will state, in her profound way, that once, in eons past, the singular and plural were BOTH “Mandalorian,” signifying their unity as a people. So the show can be about all of them or any one of them. Or something.

Bo might have seen the Mythasaur but was the Mythasaur seeing her or Din? I can see Bo going to raise the Mythasaur to prove here worth and it going all rage beast on them. Then Din turning up with the dark saber and it recognising the true leader.

I can't remember if Morgan Elsbeth was killed in s2's The Jedi. If not she may have been part of the Gideon extraction from The New Republic. Or the mercenary Mandalorians may have been hired. I'm glad to see some things coming to fruition from the setup. Did introduce some more mystique to the story as well. I'm sure we'll see Dr. Pershing again. I'm still curious about where the Elia story is going. The practical Mossbeard did look better this Chapter. I'm hoping the next few chapters are longer. I thought the person sitting in the bar at the beginning looked odd, I should have known it was Feloni.

The only part that annoyed me this episode was when the Mandalorians are fighting in the Courtyard and they say they are surrounded.. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m pretty sure they have jet packs they could’ve just used to get the high ground before Paz come in just to look cool. Other than that..Good episode

First ZEB wow he was and looked amazing. A really great episode, this is what this season should be about The Mandalorians should join up and remake Mandalore. This episode also shows that the series works fine without Grogu (love him but he should have stayed with Luke) Bo-Katan has shown leadership and will be perfect to rule the Mandalorians. Paz speech was also good and the armourer, when will we get to know more about her

I enjoyed it, 7/10 Only problems I saw were the continuation of ruining what Luke leia Han and the rebellion fought for. Why didn't the pilot just take zeb and some of those other pilots to go help 🤔 clearly the new republic wouldn't know nor care it seems. And I didn't like that the mandos struggled with the pirates at all. Other than that I'm hyped for the next episode unless they screw it up again

Hi Thor, weren’t the dark troopers Moff Gideon used made out of beskar? Or perhaps I am remembering wrong. If they are made out of beskar, I would think it’d make most sense to send the dark troopers on a quick recovery mission to retrieve Gideon, and either purposely or not leave the Beskar there to frame the Mandalorians.

Bo only told the Armorer about the Mythosaur, she never told Din. That's rather shady...🙄 I still don't trust Bo. She smiled (smirked) deviously at Din and Paz Visla at the end. Wonder if the Armorer is testing Bo by sending her on this "mando reunion mission"?... 🤔

The action choreography is just so off for these shows. Nothing has stakes or seems real anymore. Andor might’ve not had all the WOW moments, but it did have emotion. This is just childish at this point and it’s depressing with how intense the mandalorian lore is.

As far as episodes and time is concerned, us consumers are getting short-changed. 8 episodes instead of 10 where not all are an hour in length. Therefore, there should be more substance and less filler.

This is my favorite this season as well, but still not impressed. Loved seeing Zeb tho. Great action, but the story is still weak and keeps kinda ruining the S2 finale. Grogu going with Luke. Undone. Din taking off his helmet. Undone. Gideon being captured. Undone. It feels like a reboot. It's not BAD, just uninteresting. Holding on for it to get more interesting tho.

How small is the star wars universe??? You can travel within 1h to every fucking Planet and back and nothing happens in the meantime?.?. And y are there just 50ppl living on an entire planet??? This is so silly.... And how in the world do you find a single ship floating in space. In space, do you have any idea how unbelievable huge space is???? What are the odds to find a single ship floating in space.?..

That's some fine theories, but how about the beskar simply being planted, we know that Mandalorians are not the only ones who are in possesion of it.. Like say the imperials.. But honestly i dont expect anything that deep to come from this writeing.. One of the best ep's but sadly full of terrible acting. And also best ep is a really low bar..

I hate to rant, but this episode was not doing it for me at all. Very disappointing season… How is it that three mandalorians can take down two Star Destroyers full of Stormtroopers, but a whole tribe struggles against drunken, unarmored pirates? Then the armorer gets the idea to conveniently drop her zealous attitude and *lets Bo take off her helmet* Then Din just stands there and accepts it like a sheep. His character is so bland and uninteresting anymore, and he doesn’t even use the Dark Saber. I completely forgot he had it until I saw a clip from Mando 2.5. I’m just waiting for Thrawn or somebody important to show up at this point - the only thing salvageable about this show is the cameos.

I really don't get what people see in this ep personally, but glad some people found something to enjoy this season. Even if the ep tried to connect all the divergent plotlines... the main one with resolving the pirate conflict on Nevarro bored me as much as it did in the premiere, and how the Mandalorians are just there to be strung along because reasons. I've lost a lot of respect for the Mandalorians because of the actions of the past episodes because they are so moronic.
