Thank you for being so open and honest!! I decided to texturize my daughter's hair too. It has been such a painful struggle for us too! I finally decided to use the texturizer because my daughter said to me "mom you want my hair natural but I just want my hair to stop hurting me". I was crushed. I finally had to see it from her eyes. So we are going to start this new chapter of hair with the texturizer and I hope it is ok, but most importantly I don't want her hair to be a source of pain for her anymore. Thank you again for sharing your video, it makes me feel like we are not alone in this struggle.

Omg yes!!! That’s the exact reason I was the one who wanted her hair natural but my daughter was the one suffering. It was definitely a hard decision but I have no regrets. I felt this comment 😭😭 I’m there right now. My poor baby has long gorgeous hair to her tail bone but she also has the tiniest pencil curls. I’ve yet to find anything to help comb it out easier. She’s always in tears and it breaks my heart. I’m sooo against relaxers but at this point she hates her hair and that’s no better! My daughter is 10.

I am LITERALLY here because my daughter and I are both at our wits end. She begged me yesterday to just cut it all off and I can’t bring myself to do that as it’s been 9 years of me caring for it naturally through protective styles and with help, and it’s waist length when straightened. But it mats so quickly if it’s not in a protective or straightened state. All she wants to do is to be able to wear curly styles without us having to block off a whole day to schedule hair maintenance. So I’m researching and fighting some of the same feelings you expressed. We clicked on this because your daughter and you are adorable and it looks like you have similar hair textures to ours. Thank you for this. You have no idea how helpful this was for both me and her personally. She just turned to me and said “She’s a good mom- just like you.” 🥺 Your daughter looks so very happy. Good job mom ❤️

Honestly, I'm really glad I came across this video. I was just having this conversation with my 9 year old who has a mix of 4B and 4C hair. She hates wash day and is extremely tender headed. She never wants me to style or wash it. She cries everytime and I really want to give her a texturizer. I have texturized hair and it made my life so much easier. Seeing you and your daughter have this conversation has encouraged me to go ahead and do it.

Thanks for sharing. This is so my story. My ten year old and I had the discussion after her most recent braided style and when I saw the pain she went through when the stylist was blow drying it-it brought me to tears. And still does not hen I think about about it. I feel the same way you did-like I’m changing her what she was born with-and I know I will be. I just don’t want her to feel tortured and me me feeling the pain as well. It is a long process on wash day. She wants to wear it down but I know the tangles will come back immediately. I’ll be taking the leap as well. Again, thanks for sharing. It’s a huge encouragement.

My daughter is and was diagnosed with autism. She would cry to a point of nearly passing out because it is SOOOO extremely thick and curly even before the diagnosis. Her father would have hold her down and sometimes we would just send her to school with her hair tangled. She would yell, kick, fight and scream even after I was done. I cried and he felt bad he had to hold her. I felt that on top of what she is already dealing with I was adding to the problem. I didn't cut her hair, she did. She would not let me braid it or even touch it No matter how I tried to bribe her. So I asked my husband can If I could texturize it. I graduated from Barber/Styling school so I was aware that the chemicals would alter her natural curl pattern but I also knew how to apply it. I looked for the pressing comb in a jar that they no longer make but then decided to go with the Just for me texturizer. Thinking about what other women would say (because men don't care about all that) I was reluctant to do it at first but I asked myself how would it benefit HER. Does the looks and voices of their opinions outweigh the tears and screams for help from our daughter? Ah NO! So I texturized it. Period. She still cried but it mainly was because of the previous times I combed it. I guess she prepared for torture. Is it HER hair YOUR hair just because I made a decision to texturizer her hair??? No! ITS STILL HER HAIR! Just like we have to take care of natural hair, same MUST be done for chemically processed hair. That's the thing with SOME of us African American women. SOME think ppl like us are trying to be like them. That's not so. Ppl like us are trying to do what we feel is best. If someone of a different race want to make their hair a Jerri Curl it may not be because they wanna look black It may be easier for them to manage ESPECIALLY when they are older. My biggest advice is if you don't know what you are doing,GO PRO! This stuff has to be applied at the times it said. No more. You have to be fast with applications smoothing and rinsing. GO head sistahs with the movement . I did what would help MY baby and make the diagnosis she was given less stressful on her. AGAIN, ITS STILL YOUR HAIR! Ppl will know we are black whether we wear our hair natural or processed. Do what HELPS you. Shoot we alter our natural beauty by putting chemicals on our faces so what's the difference that's why we moisturize our skin before and after applying makeup. My advice is do the same with your hair. Even more after the texturizer or relaxer. Just my OPINION. GOD bless you Woman of GOD

Awww I know it’s such a hard decision. Especially because being able to embrace our natural hair is not ingrained in a lot of ethnic cultures. It’s important to embrace our beautiful natural hair types. I know exactly how you feel!! I will say that we don’t regret it. My hope is that when she’s a little bit older she will want to be completely natural and want to learn about how to take care of her hair. For now I want her to enjoy it with minimal pain and struggle.

Hi, thank you for your video. My 6 year old daughter has same beautiful very curly hair like your pretty little girl. She doesn't like to wash it or brush it.. she never likes to leave it naturally down. Only wears ponny tails which stays ok for max two days. Her hair gets very dry. I can't understand her us much as my hair is ,,just,, wavy and comper to hers is very easy to manage .. I am definitely going try it. Thank you very much for encouragement. You both are very beautiful 😘 stay safe xxx

Thank you so much, my lil girl is 6 and I’ve been debating on taking her to the shop or do the texturizing and she’s terrified of going to the shop because of how she says and I’ve been researching so I’m gone step out and try it

Thank you for sharing your story! I’m definitely going to try this to my daughter because I go through the same thing and my daughter is 3 yrs old. I’ve tried everything ! I even put Aloe Vera in my daughter’s hair but nothing works!! And your daughter is too cute by the way !!! She looks so much like my daughter. That’s why I was bugging out when I first saw this video! Thanks again ❤️❤️❤️

I just did my 3yr old today. Her hair is super hard to maintain and she does not let me brush it....whenever we try I always think my neighbors are going to call the police on me because of the screaming so today I finally decided to do it

CAn i si this on my 2 year old Or I have to wait till he’s 5?
@NaturallySade3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure to be honest, but I think 2 might be too little for his scalp and skin. If you can wait, I’d wait until he was at least 5. I’m not sure what the box says about age.

Having breads is not a torture, it's part of the blac culture
@NaturallySade4 жыл бұрын
Yes you’re right. She loved having braids in her hair, it was the detangling that was torture for her not the braids. Her hair was super kinky and coily that it would just tangle right back up and she’s very tender headed. It’s much easier to style and braid now.
