A friend of mine - John Witt designed this product in the early 1980's. Sadly he was killed in a car accident soon after the product was launched. He would be so proud that it is still selling and helping people after 40 years in Halfords. Good on you John.

One tip I might offer: put a couple of inches of (clean) brake fluid into the container before you start. That way, if the one-way valve fails - or doesn't work at all - the vacuum from the pedal release will pull brake fluid back into the system, and not air.
@Toms_Short_Movies Жыл бұрын
I used to think that; however, you always start with air in the tube, which would be sucked back in, so save new fluid and trust the valve or the two man method.

I've had one of these for a lot of years I also bought mine at Halfords never has let me down when I need my brake and my clutch great little one man tool
@dielaughing733 жыл бұрын
I have had one of these for years and used it a few times on a motorbike and car. Works a treat and doesn't require compressed air, etc. The only issue is my retaining clip has failed (split), but there are two ends to it so I have just switched ends. If the other end splits too I would try to make a replacement part but it is a cheap enough tool to simply replace if that proved difficult. Because it retains fluid in the hose, you need to be careful to avoid dripping brake fluid on the calipers, wheels etc. Either protect with a cloth when connecting or drain a little out.
@christopherlogan931511 ай бұрын
This is a really helpful review, thanks for that. I will be getting one of these for when I change my front calipers.
@JMUDoc3 жыл бұрын
Update - got mine and used it a few times, worked perfectly; I put a layer of old fluid into the container beforehand - just in case - but it wasn't needed. One potential fly in the ointment is the black hose end... it already seems a looser fit by the fourth use than it was on the first.

Getting one of these today - seeing mixed reviews, but mostly positive, and it's cheap enough for me to not go mental if it doesn't work :) I tried one of the "gun" type vacuum kits but couldn't get a decent seal on my bleed nipples, so the gun pulled air in as well as fluid.

Never thought of using a bungee cord on these types of systems. Always end up putting the pot on a brick, and as soon as I pump the brakes, the force knocks the pot off the brick....

Awesome little device , but i cringed when I saw 5 litres of brake fluid, unless you’re a shop don’t buy that, dot 3,4 & 5.1 brake fluid will start absorbing water the second you open it, should be chucked out after a year you only need a small bottle.

Justin Drew thanks mate not a bad tool for the price 😊👍, I failed to mention in the video that brake fluid is hygroscopic, I don’t buy it in big quantities but a friend asked me to do a brake fluid flush and turned up with the 5 litre unopened and left with me for that the same reason, luckily I was able to use 3 times in a week but I have to say I still have about 3 litres left which very likely will ended up in the recycling centre 😀👍👍👍 Cheers

If that much fluid is coming out, he's pushing the brake pedal down too far probably to the floor. Aside from the fact that he's probably damaging the master cylinder as its piston travels into the corroded end of the bore, he should top up the fluid after five of those strokes so that the master cylinder doesn't go dry.

Is it worth removing the old fluid out of the reservoir first and putting new fluid in so you don't have to pump all the old fluid through the system?
@alanfrancis92254 жыл бұрын
No, because you are taking the chance of the master cylinder going dry. If refreshing brake fluid is required, use this bleeder on all brakes ( from rear, furthest brake line to front ) keeping brake reservoir topped up as you go. This will refresh all brake fluid in the “lines and reservoir” and avoid exposing rubber seals in master brake cylinder.
@kayumkhalifa27522 жыл бұрын
you should remove 3/4 amount leave a quarter in there to bleed through to make sure it don`t go dry

Cars Exposed Last two summers i noticed that the brake pedal goes to the floor when i press it very slowly... Toyota dealer suggestion was to replace the brake master cylinder which costs 200-250€ .They and many other garages don't think a brake bleeding would make any difference. Before one month i went for a service in a garage and told them to bleed the brake system since 30,000km passed from the last time Toyota did this job. In winter months brake pedal seems normal but i feel like pedal is a lot harder..Now I'm patiently waiting for the hot summer days to check if problem fixed and Toyota dealer were lame at their job skills or i have to replace master cylinder.
