Let’s try the warm and cool Neocolor ii sets, my thoughts and demo

Welcome to another video! This time I am trying out some water-soluble crayons by Carand’ache, the two sets I show in the revue are limited edition curated by the artis Beya Rebaï I’m very excited to try them as the colours look very vibrant and as I like watercolour pencils, I’m hoping I will like Neocolor ii just as much.

You can put the shavings into a watercolour pan ( or one of those daily pill containers, cheap from the chemist), add a little water and stir with a wooden skewer, and then you can use them like a watercolour

I don’t understand this tip many people make. If I want to paint from a pan I have plenty of palettes like that already. Is there something special about these colors shaved into a pan?

@@LCLand no, nothing special. It just means that if you sharpen your neos you don't waste the shavings. Also, by having a little palette of them, like a travel palette for instance, you’ve got a small handy box of them that takes up less room on the go. Personally I hate wasting any paint, so saving the shavings is a great idea 👍

@@LCLandThey are also more opaque like gouache and several artist cut off small pieces and put in a half pan and even mix colors to make a palette personalized for them. Like having dried gouache that rewets and is thick and creamy and still very opaque where when you dry real gouache down it isn't always that way it's more transparent. It's on my list but I haven't personally done it yet. Cutting off the neo2's takes courage I'm working on building up to it. 😂

Aw, the little dandelions are so cute (couldn't help myself). I have a palette tucked away that I keep my Caran D'ache shavings in. They rewet well and can be used much like other water soluble paints would.

Thanks! I found both sets online in Amsterdam but they don't ship to the US! I've tried ebay and everywhere. Caran D'ache itself is sold out. Oh well. @@washedoutwyvern

Hello, the small brush I use is a proart prolene brush (I think it’s a 03), the pink and black ones are betty hayways brushes, hope this helps! 😊

Hello, I used the sharpened neocolor and a fine paintbrush for the details. I worked from lightest part to darkest to try and keep them as clean as possible! hope this helps sorry for the slow reply 😊
